Random AADSAS Questions: 2018-2019 Edition

If you have two minors how do you enter both of them on the application?
I put one of my minors with my major (the one I petitioned for first), and then I put the second one/newer one under "Experiences" as "Academic Enrichment", and then described it a little in its description box.

ADEA verifies it themselves, and the process starts as soon as you've paid 1 primary application fee ($249). They then start to match your inputted course history with that on your transcript, and verify that the subjects you selected are correct. They then will create a whole list of GPAs (like 40-50, or maybe more, it's just a bunch), which your schools will see.

What if you make a mistake while filling it out, is there any consequences?

Also, if you have been on the Dean's list multiple times, do you just put it once under achievements? That's because they ask what date you received it, however I received it multiple times, so what am I supposed to do?

I mean I don't believe I have any other awards that I received in college, so I mind as well fill up space?

It slows down the process cause they will tell you it is a mistake and you will have to fix it or something.

There's no consequence besides them requiring you to fix it and your application being delayed, as @tiper15 said. That's why it's so important for applicants to really take their time when inputting their courses.

You should put it only once, and describe when you got it in the description box.
Something like deans list- awarded when _____. Received fall 2014, 2015, 2016, etc

Is being a first generation student considered being a "disadvantaged applicant?"

This is kind of a weird/specific question but wanted to see if anyone had any input.

I volunteer in a dental clinic and did one shift per week in the spring, but now in the summer I do 6 hours per week. So in the experiences section where it has "hours per week" and "number of weeks" it doesn't really work out in a way that makes sense. Should I do two separate entries or just do one that makes the total hours multiply up to what my approximate total hours are?

The way I did it was to make the number of hours work. So if you have 4 weeks at 4 hours and 4 weeks at 6 hours. I would then make it 8 weeks at 5 hours each..... If that makes sense.

Quick q!

If you have held multiple positions with a club (like you were a general member and then you became a board member), do you put your most recent title as the title under experiences or do you list the two positions separately?

I will be going abroad for volunteering in July and August (two countries), and it will add ~1000 hours of volunteering for me. I already have ~500 hours that I've completed.
Can I put future volunteering activities when I submit on June 5th?
NYU told me that there will be a place to put future activities in their supplementary and Indiana told me to put it in when I apply if I have similar activity before (and I do have volunteering activity abroad 2 years ago).
Should I put it in when I submit?? Volunteering is a strong part in my application!

I just read all the posts, and no one gave a clear answer.

For the freshman intro course, what do we label it as on our transcripts? Like under orientation or special topics, or something else?

Two more questions. Like for a placement exam that I took, what am I supposed to put under grade? I can't put "CR" because I didn't receive any credits for it.

Also, some of my courses are just pass or fail, under grade, do I just put "Pass"? On my transcript, under grade, it says "S", which stands for pass, but what should I write there?

Can we submit our application before June 5th and pay on June 5th?

Should I submit my engineering license?

One more question:
Should I add my certifications under achievement or licenses?

For the pass/fail question just put down whatever is on your transcript. If you don't they will say that you did it wrong. If the test shows up on your transcript add the course in like normal and put 0 credits and then follow what the aadsas says.

"Advanced Placement: Credits granted by a college or university for a performance on the College Board Advanced Placement Exam are considered “Advanced Placement.”
"Other Test Credit: If the applicant has other test credits including International Baccalaureate (IB), CLEP, DANTE, REGENTS, or Institutional/Departmental exams (courses a person “tested out of” at the college), click “yes”."

One more question:
Should I add my certifications under achievement or licenses?
I have read elsewhere that the AADSAS says to put certs (like CPR, etc) under achievements. Certifications I think are specifically for things like dental assisting, nursing, etc

The AADSAS is pretty specific about the fact that all of the materials you include have to have been completed or in progress at the time of submission. You cannot include future plans. It might be something that you include in the description that you are going back but I don't think you can include the hours.

Also when it asks for experience dates, if I can’t remember the exact day I started a job should I just put my best estimate?

Hi.
Under evaluation, what should be the status of my letters? For me one is showing accepted in red and the other completed in green. I checked with my professor for the one that is showing accepted and he is sure that he answered the questions and uploaded the letter

I've just been putting best estimates as some of the experiences are 5 years old.

But there is another option to choose here which is other. Can’t we choose that one for CPR certification?

I dont think they will get angry, and I personally didnt ask. But since it is labeled licenses not certifications I think that is what they are going for. On another thread I read that someone called and asked and they didnt consider certifications licenses.

Had a question about the experiences. When it is asking under supervisor for the title... do they just want Mr, Mrs, Dr. or do they want like DMD, MD, etc or do they want like club advisor, general dentist, OMFS etc

Sorry if that was confusing but I have no clue what to put.

Thank you!

I asked about this and they told me that it is mainly for if a school wants to contact the person. They told me extra information (dmd, phd...) is isn't bad to include but mainly it is so they know how to address the individual.

For placement exams, I did put 0 credits. But for grade, what do I put? "CR" or what?

Hey everyone! When adding dual enrollment course I took in high school, what should my academic status be?

Only options available are:

Freshman
Sophmore
Junior
Senior
Graduate
Post-graduate

Whatever it says on your transcript for a "grade". If it doesn't accept that, then I would call or email the AADSAS and ask what you should put. It might delay your app if they don't like and tell you to fix it.

A friend of mine is putting them as freshman courses since that was technically his status at the time he took them.

It just has the word "T" for it on my transcript. However, it has the word "T" for my AP courses as well. But it says to write "CR" for AP courses.

Sorry I think I misunderstood. I would think that CR would be the appropriate grade (especially if the test is one of those listed under other test credits), but I am not 100% sure. It might be best to call them and check.

okay thank you!

Also... I have a question about my transcript. I went and paid for an official transcript from my school. Some of the classes on it are sort of abbreviated and some are not. For example, on my transcript is has:

Human Anatomy and Physiology 2
Humn Anatmy & Physiology Lab 2

What should I enter into aadsas ? Should I just put it exactly how it appears on my transcript or should I just fully type out what it is supposed to be ?

Thank you

AADSAS describes Achievements as academic awards, honors and scholarships. If you were trained through various health related activities that were on-the-job, AADSAS instructions says to put it under Experiences in the appropriate category. That's what I did for my CPR certificate. Like Bingwen said, I think certifications are different than licenses. I would contact AADSAS though directly if you really want to know.

One more question:

So being on the Dean's List, is that an achievement or a certification?

And if I do research at my school for credit, what do I put it under on my transcript, do I just put the subject as "biology"?

I hate to ask again but I haven’t found a solid answer anywhere, so does anyone have any idea of what category a pre-dental day would fall under in experiences?

I put deans list under achievements. I’m not too sure about research but I would just put the subject as whatever department it has listed on your transcript!

I put mine under dental experiences though I think you could throw it under academic enrichment as well.

Is it really worth it to put things like Impressions Day on the application? Like won't schools already be able to see if you went to their Impressions Day?

Depends on who puts it on. Midwestern's for instance is an ASDA event so admissions would not necessarily know you attended. Plus no other school would know that you did it.

would it look like you have a preference for the school who put on the event? and would it come off as a resume filler in any way?

I don't think it shows any preference, as most people go to one that is near by. For most students it's a chance to get more exposure to the dental field and to dental school life. I think that is how most schools would view it. I don't think it will make or break your app by any means but I think it can provide more evidence that you are interested in the dental field.

I would say it can't hurt to include if you did it.

I'm planning to enroll in a master's program this fall. Should I include it under 'college attended' even through I don't have any coursework to input yet? I am thinking about listing it as degree in progress. Or should I wait until 'academic update' in December?

If I retook a class and got a better grade on the second time around, do I still need to input the first time I took the class?

Yes. All the coursework has to be listed
