Welcome to Part 6! Everyone did a bang up job by hitting 10k in less than 12 days--11 days 19 hours and 18 minutes to be exact. A new record! 😀

For those not familiar with what we do here, Molly has been kind enough to put together a nice description.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

Nothing in the mail today. 😡 🙁

The deadline is this freaking Sunday - obviously mail won't come then so their deadline is tomorrow!!! Talk about waiting until the last minute.

How hard would it be for them to call the EDP applicants to let them know one way or another??? They only had a handful of them.

I'm going to cry. I just wanted this stress to be over today. 🙁

oxeye, remember when i was waiting day after day for my step 1 scores to come in the mail? trust me, i know what disappointment your feeling. it sucks but hopefully you'll know soon.

So I was perusing the Spring 07 Schedule of classes and I need you guys' opinions:

MUST TAKE:

Physics II
Orgo II

WOULD LIKE TO TAKE (for easy A's per other students currently in these courses)

Microbiology
Nutrition (online)

I'm also going to be studying for the MCAT (taking in May 07), but these courses would be a nice GPA booster. I know that people in these courses that got a low B in BIO I/II are acing them, so I'm fairly confident I could pass them without as much effort as physics and orgo.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

totally doable, the microbio will even help you become stronger for mcat bio so thats just icing on the cake 👍

Microbio an easy A? 😕 I say go for though, as it might come in handy on the test-that-shall-not-be-named.

my patient was awake this morning, still intubated in the CCU but he could communicate with me through hand signals and recognized all of us. totally made my day. 😀

presentation was ok, it was a group one so the pressure wasnt all on me which made it nice. my last 3 weeks of this rotation should be cake now, everyone gets assigned presentations to do so i'm just glad i got mine out of the way early.

Yup, I actually thought about you and Step 1 when the mailman left and I didn't have anything. 🙁

i am so happy to hear that your patient seems to be doing ok. i was thinking about that earlier. and that rocks that all of your presentations are done--now you can just chill. i always end up doing all the work in group presentations but i'm sure it's different at med school

awww oxeye, in 2006 you'd think these med schools would get their act together and just have online notifications with hard copies sent out as well. to i just dont understand why they dont do that, schools already have secure web servers when it comes to grades so there is no reason why they cant do that with the admissions process also. i sooooo soooo soooooooooo hope you get your notification soon.

we did it in a jeopardy style game with a jeopardy board as our main powerpoint slide with 5 catergories each ranging from 100 ---> 500. all of us divided up the categories so it made it easy to spread the load. pretty nice way to make the presentation interactive, if you google "powerpoint jeopardy" you'll see the templates. we made the prize a half dozen krispy kreme donuts for the winning team. :laugh:

no no no, you do that by writing on your windows with a black dry erase marker. that my friend is how you do it if you want to show off smartness. the least you could do is use that big wall mirror most bathrooms have as a board with the dry erase marker.

👍 I'll still have the priv prac plus the 2 hospitals.. so I'll take OChem II plus lab, study for MCAT, and MAYBE take a bio elective.. but we'll see how things fit into the schedule.

BTW, I'm not even vicariously pissed. I'm really pissed. I made sure I could get to a computer in Houston just to see if you got in and they have the audacity not to tell you today 😡

No, she's more than a friend. But at least she likes me and I like her (a bit); the last girlfriend HATED me. Like she smacked him one time because he was out too late talking to me.
