This is why engineers should never be allowed to make jokes. :p

I'm teasing you; I actually have a lot of respect for engineers. I think if I had to do it all over again (and if I had gone to a college that offered engineering), I'd have totally been into that. I'm definitely an applied science kinda girl.
word. engineering is fun. :)

Hey, S&M! Did you hear from another school? What's the good news?
hey, since i know you don't like going through old posts (i don't either!! :p), i just wanted to tell you that i got into Robert Wood Johnson for the MD part...the MD/Phd committee hasn't made their decisions yet.

As far as UIC goes...they are sending out letters April 1. :scared:

Woohoo fellow mudphd HO!

I can't remember if I told you this but I was good friends with a lady who graduated from the UIC MD/PhD and she was an absolutely excellent resident. And really nice person. :)
excellent! v. good news. :)

What??? RWJ still hasn't decided? When do they decide?

:luck: to you on April 1 if I don't see you before then.

i know, these decisions are coming so late!!

RWJ said that I would hear from the MD/PhD program after the MD program reaches a decision on my application. There, as in many other schools, you must be admitted to the MD program before the MD/PhD program. So it should only be a matter of time now...

I'm not sure what the deal is with UIC (why it's taking so long). I think they extended their interviews to the end of Feb. and for whatever reason their adcomm meeting is happening sometime this month.

You're going to be ok. Worst case scenario, you go to med school at RWJ and transfer in. It's a lot easier to go MD to MD/PhD than it is to go PhD to MD/PhD.

wow, it's hot out today - anyone else planning on skiing/riding anymore this season?
I don't know how to ski. There isn't much call for that in FL. :p

So what's your story, bigserve? Did you just graduate from college, or are you a nontrad? BTW, I thought your posts in the lounge thread about religion were pretty good.

Q....you need to get yourself on a mountain sometime soon.....it's absolutely the best, no feeling like it (though I suppose being in florida has its own rewards). New England mountains are ok....but I got a taste of the west coast powder, and have been hooked ever since.

My story...well, I'm a couple years out of undergrad, finished my master's in biochem (haha, and I still hadn't seen your diene joke before) and am now working for a pharma in NY, and lucky enough to be working on a a project very dear to me from grad school (HIV vaccine). Gearin ready to hit up the med school application circuit pretty soon. I guess you could call me non-trad in that respect.

My religion posts...wow, yah, I haven't had time to follow them up in a while. But thanks for the compliment. From what I've gathered you're a pretty well respected member of the SDN community.....it's good to hear good things from people like urself.

So ur the resident expert on all things chemical or otherwise on this board? If so, I'll have to beg for your services when the time comes.

the season is pretty much over. I didn't go at all this year :(

yah, I guess it wasn't a good season for certain areas of the country. I was hoping to go at least one more time if it got cold again. But I doubt it'll happen. I got spoiled already this season anyway, got to go to WolfCreek in CO. "Most snow in the US"

450 + inches a year!

I tell you, weekend off + good night's sleep + sunshine + windows open + parents visiting + NASCAR in Las Vegas really does incredible things for a person's mood. :D

Yah, spring clean time. My room is littered with MCAT debris. :D

My apartment is littered with pathology residency debris. Though I will be adding to it soon with my $1500 book fund. :D (I actually am REALLY excited to start building my own pathology library at home!)

The only path book I have at home now is Robbins, which is great, but I could use more for reading in the evenings.

where in the country do you live? Or canada perhaps?

Getting close to being done. :wow: Time is really flying. They're already making plans for second look weekend. I remember going to second looks myself, like, a week or two ago it seems. :p
Welcome to medical school. Where the pedal is always to the metal.

Big NASCAR fan huh? Tell ya what, I give racing it's due....but I've only gotten into F1. Can't really get the NASCAR concept. Maybe it's the engineer in me, but I am always taken aback at the sheer delicate beauty of an F1 car taking the Casino turn on the Monte Carlo at 2 and half G's! Just absolutely stunning. I hope to make it to all 17 F1 races someday and to make it down to Brazil for the championship.

What is it about NASCAR that get's u going beary?

You're the second person who has said that to me this week (about being respected). Interesting.

So you *are* a nontrad. I suspected you were; I can always tell! Come hang out with us in the nontrad forum. :)

Maybe I'd try a bunny slope. It would be fun to try skiing just because. But I'm not promising anything great will come out of it. ;)

I don't answer questions as much as I used to, but if you have some urgent ones, feel free to post them in the subforum and someone will help you out. When do you take the MCAT? Are you applying this summer?

I like F1 and IRL but am not really into them (I watch the Indy 500 every year but that's it). I love the NASCAR culture - really a "family values" sport. And the 43 drivers racing each other every week, all the drama, different types of tracks (restrictor plate vs. 1.5 mile ovals vs. short tracks vs. road courses etc.), I don't know, it's hard to explain. I just really enjoy it every week. :)

I can't believe A is going to be an M4. When I first joined SDN, he had just started med school.

I know what you mean Q. I can still remember way back to the first random thread when he was just posting about his first and second year classes in the basic sciences. Now he's almost done with 3rd year and before you know it match day will come for him.

And its not just him. Some of his classmates who went to USF and other people I knew who went to USF and started med school when he did are now almost done. feels like yesterday they were starting med school. same with some of the M4s who I knew from my hometown and are now almost done. Time passes so fast when get out of highschool and finally move away from home.

I have skiied Wolf Creek as well! A couple of times. Tons of snow there. Where did you stay?
