Urgh, I got my boots from Ebay in the mail today and they charged me GST and a stupid $5 customs handling fee! WTF! I've never paid duty on anything I bought from Ebay!

how is med school going? you guys on break yet or do you end Friday when NJMS people and Fl. med schools end for break?

Hey Randomites!

It has been a ridiculously busy week . . . ugh! Our office Christmas party starts in a half-hour . . . I don't think anyone is working right now . . . Why-oh-why must it start at 1pm? Everyone's hungry now!

Congrats to everyone who's done before the holidays or almost there! :hardy: One more day at work, and then I'm taking all next week off! Woo hoo! The thought of not having to go to work in the morning is completely fantastic. 😎

Congrats also to Meg and Funky! :luck: with those interviews!

Gradu8 - so sorry to hear about your friend. What an awful time of year for it to happen too - it must be so rough on his family. I'll keep them in my thoughts.

I hear ya . . . but at the same time, I'm kind of glad nothing new is on. It will give me a chance to go online over the coming weeks and catch up on everything I missed this season because I've been too darn busy to watch all of my favorite shows. Hooray for online streaming!!!!!!!!!! 😍


Conan writing his own material might be fin to watch, though . . . I think I'll tune in for that after the 1st! (If I can stay up that late, that is . . . if I'm watching tv at night, I usually fall asleep on the couch before Conan even does his monologue . . . 👎)

Because my friend that passed away was extremely close to my best friend from home (she and I are about three years older than her baby brother and the boy who died), she's coming home from South Carolina to attend the services. Phong was her baby brother Aaron's best friend, so she wants to be here for Aaron during this time.

That's a blessing in disguise... I haven't seen her since graduation in May (and before that, it was almost a year) and I'll get to see her on her birthday. I hate that this is the reason we're gonna see each other, but I'm excited to see her.

Glad you'll get to see your friend, Gradu8! I know how it is - I haven't seen my best friend since my wedding, which was a year and a half ago. I'm about ready to invent some sort of excuse for her to come visit me . . . or vice versa. (Of course, I'm hoping I'll get an interview in her city . . . I only wish I could count on that!)

Took the first Physics EK 30 min & made a solid 10. Ten on ANYTHING in PS is fairly amazing to me. I think we're actually making progress. 👍

Back to randomness... the rain is over (abt 3.5 inches later) and the house is clean!

Cleaning is definitely a workout!! Especially if your place gets as out of hand as mine does at times, and then you try to clean it all in one long whirlwind session! Time to take it easy and enjoy the holidays!


A coworker forwarded some helpful "holiday eating tips" - I had to pass a few along a few of my favorites. 👍 :

  • [FONT='Arial','sans-serif']Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls..
  • [FONT='Arial','sans-serif']If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat..
  • [FONT='Arial','sans-serif']As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission..
  • [FONT='Arial','sans-serif']Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog..
  • [FONT='Arial','sans-serif']If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again. .

school is going...well, it's going for sure. 😛
we have our last exam tomorrow (cellular and genetic mechanisms...it's mostly genetics this block). thank goodness for pass/fail.

how are things going for you??

Agreed CultureDoc. I usually don't let it get so out of hand, but i've just been too busy lately to care.

Dad brought a ham home from work. A 16 lb ham.

Perks to owning your own business and doing a LOT of business = tons of free food. Who wants ham for dinner? 🙂

I just realized it's finally Friday... which means I get to see my sister and brother in law today 🙂🙂🙂..........

I'm going HOME tomorrow!! (Sat)

Which brings me to the conclusive point of being waaay too excited to sleep. Bring on Christmas!

One more stop for me.... PetsMart. My poor beta doesn't have any vacation feeders left and I'm about to leave her for a while.

I'll probably pick up something else for the puppies too... since they love unwrapping presents so much.

My husband and I realized yesterday that the only "people" we have finished shopping for are our pets . . . *sigh.* They're just so easy to shop for! :laugh: In all seriousness, I can't wait to give Ginger, our dog, her presents . . . she loves new toys and we don't get them for her very often. So fun!

I think I might steal one of my co-worker's fabulous ideas, though . . . she bought herself a new pair of shoes, wrapped them up, and has put them under the tree with a tag that says "To Maria, from Job" (Job is her dog) BRILLIANT! :idea: Ginger should definitely get me some new shoes . . . she knows how much I like shoes! it would be a very thoughtful gift! And maybe the cat should get me something too . . . oh the possibilities! 😛

Another boring day, today, in vacation/holiday land. I knew this would happen. I've become so twisted by medical school that I've forgotten how to relax. I don't know what to do with myself. 😳 I keep looking for something to study. There is just so much...time. 😱
