Despite the threat of being banned by certain evil Randomite moderators on power trips, I couldn't resist posting a nice set of breasts.

Happy Thanksgiving Randomites!

Hey gotta question to the mods on here. What happened with the PM? How come we can only have up to 250 cuz I thought it went up to 500 and then 1000 for a while?

Just curious.

BTW what's happening with everyone.

Spice,

Congrats on getting the new dog. My friend just got a new dog for her mom for christmas.

Spice,

Congrats on getting the new dog. My friend just got a new dog for her mom for christmas.

Just played in the snow (we ended up with THREE INCHES!!!), went to the furniture store, grocery store, sams.... came home and identified some IR spectra that I created in lab last week... worked on some cell physio homework, and now i'm doing some exercises in the TPR big workbook.

guju, I have no idea.. why don't you ask about that in the Site Suggestions forum? someone in Admin would be able to answer that.

the only thing I can think of is if you were ever a donor, your PM box would have expanded, but then decreased if you didn't continue to donate.

Oh ok. Yeah I was a donor but they took my donor status away, so how do you redonate?

Cool. Yeah it got cold here as I predicted it would after 3 days of raining in the night.

Now its really cold but not by a snowbird's standard.

As per me I went to someone's house last night to hear a professional musician playing tabla (an indian drum) and for dinner. Going to a friend's ceremony today related to her upcoming wedding in Feb. Will be there in an hour or hour and a half.

Nothing else new here. Oh and Graduatin, I may be right there with you since I'm studying and debating whether to retake the stupid MCAT. My bio score spiked up after the masters. I hoping now that I've learned how not to be so over anxious and second guess myself so much something gives. We'll see though. I'm studying with a friend just in case I do end trying again while studying for classes. I used TPR when I took it and I think those passages helped my science scores quite a bit but I've learned that Shrike was right when he said that if you know the material really well you often don't need a lot of information besides basic understanding of graphs and charts to answer science questions. If its any help, read his post in the subforum for how to approach science passages. Good luck. You are going to kick it this time. 😀

Guju,

Best of luck if you retake. My scores are coming up... slowly... which is frustrating, but at least i'm understanding things. Three months to go and I'm confident I can turn things around this time. The info in Study Q&A is awesome, I like to hang out there when i've "had enough" of heavy studying and just want to read some different opinions on things.

Trying to knock out a paper on electricity for physics bonus... he makes them insanely long so that we don't want to do them, but it's totally worth it (when a paper can count for a test grade and we only have 2-3 tests). Hoping I can finish it during halftime.... (on page 5 1/5 out of 8)

I won stuff from Test Prep Week! I'm so excited. I don't know that I've ever won anything... lol...

Is that YAY for the giants being able to make it to the superbowl????

I hope they win just so they can take away the perfect record that the patriots have! 😀 😛

P.S. how long does it take to have donor status kick back in once you've paid the greenbacks???

Oh and P.P.S. how was everyone's long weekend? Did you do anything exciting outside of watching the AFC and NFC championship games?

Ah I'm sure you've won stuff before!!!!!

But congrats on that. I was going to try to do that but was confused trying to figure out what we needed to do. Then I realized a friend had a ton of stuff to give me so I just took her old stuff and my old stuff from before.

go giants!
although i was pretty hard on them this season, they made me very proud 😛

Now lets see if they can make both of proud by taking down the patriots. :meanie: :meanie:

Oh and to my question from my previous post, I figured it out nevermind.

This donor thing has become so complicated. When I was donated before it was either 7 dollar donor or 20 dollar donor. So simple. :d

at any rate, hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and is back on it with school stuff. I went home for the 3 day weekend and spent time with fam. and also at a friend's ceremony for something related to her upcoming wedding. It was fun and homecooked food is always a great thing.

Can I get someone to be the Annual Campaign captain for the MCAT random thread? Your task would be getting all your fellow randomites to donate to SDN.

Come on, you know you want to!

SDN is a totally free resource for students.
We need the support of our members to keep SDN free, independent and non-profit.

Randomites, represent! 😀

Indeed. I'd LOVE to see the patriots lose.... haha.

Back on it.. unfortunately. 5 papers and a test next week. Finals are right around the corner. I'm ready for these classes to end, but I could so do without the five papers!

I wasn't sure what to make of the news. I know you can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed, but can you ever just be whelmed?

Here, here! My first reaction was "but he was so hot!" (as if hot people weren't allowed to die in the prime of their lives), and then that was tempered by the realization that I wouldn't have to see any more bad movies just because they had Heath Ledger in them. 😉

So anyway, hello everyone! :hello:

It's been far too long . . . life has been pretty crazy recently, but I think it's about to settle into some normalcy (finally). I started biochem last week, and I'm not so sure what to make of the class. It's not going to be structural biochem 🙂thumbup🙂, but there are only two tests 🙂eek🙂 and all questions are "short answer" - no problem-solving, no drawing, etc. . . . which is wierd, I think. 😕 Oh well! I'm hoping I can snag an A and move along.

In other news, I got my first thin envelope yesterday. It was pre-secondary from UCLA (shocker). 🙄 I had been expecting it for a while, given that I was verified by AMCAS in mid-November, and I hadn't gotten a secondary yet. I can't imagine that they would actually want more applications at this point! At least they didn't waste my money. 👍

Still no news from anywhere else, though . . . I hope that changes soon for the better. The thought of starting this whole process again in just a few months is depressing! And a litte anxiety-inducing, seeing as how if that's the case, I should probably start re-vamping my personal statement sometime around now so it's ready in June. Ugh. I think I'll procrastinate on that a bit. I'll use the excuse that it would be bad luck to start prepping for next application season when I still have 8 schools to hear from!

Random tidbit - I used the long weekend to visit my mom in the Detroit area, which was freezing, but fun. We went to see "27 Dresses," which - for all you randames out there - was a great chick flick. Predictable, for sure, but that's how I like my silly girly movies. 😀 I may also be biased by the fact that this is the first movie I've seen in the theater since the latest Bourne movie (small screen just doesn't cut it for those).

Ok, back to work . . . ugh.

Wow . . . seriously need to change my avatar (and take down the Christmas decorations in my apartment). Funky, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one still rocking the Christmas thing, though. 👍

definitely want to see twenty seven dresses. I've got a closet full of bridesmaids dresses so the subject matter is quite appealing. lol.

I hate physics oh so much. I want it to be over! 14 hrs to go. I can do it....

don't know why I started wheezing again. it must be my mental block against physics. literally, I have a headache as soon as I walk in each day... and often sneezing/wheezing attacks. the weather is nasty today and that never helps, but I believe I'm allergic to physics. good thing there's only 13.7 hrs left.

You're hilarious. I hated physics as well, but my body's response was to fall asleep during class instead. 😉

Is 27 dresses a new movie? Last chick flick I saw was "P.S. I love you".

That was a cute movie though not what we were originally planning on seeing that day.

I never saw ps I love you.. I read (and loved) the book and I heard the movie ended up straying from thr book a lot.

yeah, twenty seven dresses is a new romantic comedy starring katherine heigl (aka dr izzie stevens from greys anatomy)

P.S. I love you was a book????

Who knew. Yeah we were supposed to see national treasurehunt but the bulb in the film projector at the theater went out so they gave us a free movie pass for another time and allowed us to go into another movie so we went into P.S. I love you.

It ended up being better then I thought it would be after the first scene.

Its kinda sad though cuz the guy died but I like that she ended up becoming a shoe maker. Does that happen in the book?

I loved all the scenes of Ireland and even before they mentioned that's where they were at I knew it had to be cuz I'd seen pics from my brother's Ireland trip and it looked just like it did in the movie. That's such a gorgeous country.

Now that I'm in grad school my response to boring professors who are continuing on too slowly is to surf the net and watch it later if I miss something since its videostreamed.

Headed out on this fine morning to judge a science fair... hehe. Sounds like fun (I've never done it before) and we're getting a drop grade in cell physio for going (ie i don't have to take the final) so it's definitely worth it.

Have a great Friday everyone!

Wow . . . I'm totally jealous of all of these cool extra little things you get to do for your classes. Only one of my science classes ever had anything like that that we could take advantage of - it was my biology class, and we could go on a tour of the Genome Sequencing Center AND write up a summary for an extra participation grade (like an extra 10/10) . . . um, not really a super-amazing bonus there. I didn't bother, seeing as how I'd already been on the tour (I work in the same building) and I wasn't exactly worried about my "participation grade". Silly Wash U profs . . .

The science fair was great fun, and it's nice to know that i'm only 2 more papers to edit, 1 presentation, and a few tests away from another trimester in the bag. Off to finish my study guides for the next cell phys test on wed (my LAST one of the tri, since the final was science fair today) and work on my newest project... I'm cross-stitching a blanket for my boss who is having a baby in May. Started it early so I could work an hour or so a night until MCAT studying is over, then I'll wrap it up in April.

Picture of my blanket/quilt

I've always loved cross stitch and I'd forgotten what a great stress reliever it is. Guess I'll be making lots of things in the next few years..

hey dudes. guess what? we don't have a 1000 post limit for threads anymore. That means this mcat random thread can just go on FOREVER!!!!! bwah hahaha

You for real? Or is this temporary while they make some adjustments to whatever they are doing?

is it back to the 10,000 post rules?
or just no limit at all?

Good morning to all. Hope everyone had a somewhat productive (or at least fuN) weekend.. I managed to fit in both. Unfortunately, I forgot to get much sleep, so I'm feeling it this morning.

Twelve hours of physics left!! 🙂🙂

So cute!! I used to cross-stitch, but it's been a looong time. I think my childhood closet probably harbors 5 or more different projects that I started and then never finished (I was never particularly crafty, but people kept giving me these kits as gifts!) None of my projects were ever quite as big as this one, though. I'm impressed!!
