you dont need to post up pictures because of retaliation. it should be a daily thing

OK, so I'm arranging a little backup plan of sorts in case I don't get into med (or should I say, Canadian med school...I'm still unsure if I could afford to attend a US school even if I got in), and I've got this research interview on Tuesday, so I can 1) get research experience for my next app 2) use that research experience to do an MS...I explored some relevant programs (toxicology is my area of interest), and have been told that I have a reasonable chance of admission, and that they'd evaluate my application unofficially w/o the fee so I don't waste $ if they think my odds of getting in are not that great.

Anyway, the part that has me freaking out is about the grant applications. If I wanna get a paid summer research project, the app deadline is January 8th, which is SOON - especially given that there's a week of holidays before then! The MS deadline is March 1st...at least by then I'll know if I'm gonna get any other Canadian interviews besides UWO. I've already missed the outside funding deadline for next year's MS, although I doubt I had much chance anyway - I should be a much better candidate next year. The university guarantees $14,000 in its own funds, and the lab/PI may have more, but the $20,000 NSERC would've been nice, nonetheless.



Sooo, basically, I have to take my finals, fill out all these funding apps, fill out the master's app, learn the ropes in the lab, AND make a good impression on my supervisor (I think I'd like to stay in that lab simply b/c of logistics - I'd have to move out of province otherwise), all within about 2 months, give or take...Shoot me now!:scared:

PA is crazier than usual, Nikki? wow....

Finished up my Cell Phys test (went well) and my Organic notebook (and he was currently being impressed by my thorough-ness when I left). All that's left are finals in Chemistry and Bio on Monday and I'm seeing Thanksgiving. Woohoo.

Horrible headache today, i'm probably going to drug myself and go to bed for a while. I've got about 30 interview questions left to work on this afternoon and start studying for Chem. Fun times, fun weekend.

Happy Saturday to all. I'm spending my last two days of studying for Chemistry... I'm about burned out after a year of this crap (I started my chemistry classes last january, and taking the wrong one for the first section, had a summer one and fall one). Hopefully it wont be too bad though.

I'm going to reward myself with a bit of Christmas shopping in a few hours. 😀 I love shopping....

Man, I wish I had an actual cadaver to dissect for my A&P class. Somehow, "extends posteriorly and laterally from a point anterior to the intercondylar area of the tibia to the posterior part of the medial surface of the lateral condyle of the femur" just isn't that descriptive.🙄 Every time I read something like that, I feel the need to hold it in my hand, rotate it, and SEE it.

My husband is too nice sometimes. That kid got lucky. J. spent the next hour re-digging the post holes and putting the mailboxes back (there are 3 in a row, ours and 2 neighbors). Unfortunately, one was demolished.

The kid will have to pay, but got off with no cops or insurance involved.

Seriously! I saw a segment on the news last week where they talked about how the numbers for teen driving deaths due to alcohol are decreasing but overall numbers aren't, and they're blaming texting while driving. Another "seriously?" kind of moment.

Don't think so - but they added more bodies this year and didn't enough tanks w/ the ventilation systems. So a few of the bodies had a different preservation method and it's not working as well because all of those are being replaced now.

Fun stuff. 😉
