I just can't help myself sometimes. Then I also realize a lot of the people posting there aren't even in med school yet, let alone residency. So they are all not yet jaded, poor souls.
It's OK. Their time will come soon. Let them enjoy their unbridled idealism and optimism while they still can. We were all there at one point.

Yeah, everyone thinks they are going to save the world. And they will be the ideal doctor that everyone wants to go to. But then they will get stuck with an office schedule of:

9am: Fibromyalgia
9:20: Chronic pelvic pain
9:20: Back pain (double booked because this one was urgent)
9:40: Hypothyroidism
10:00: Fibromyalgia and hypothyroidism
10:20: Poorly controlled diabetes
10:40: Poorly controlled diabetes, hypothyroidism, and chronic pelvic pain
11:00: Chronic abdominal pain
11:20: Constipation
11:40: Follow up headaches after non-productive neurology consult
12:00: Lunch with drug rep from the enema company
1:00-5:00: Rounds at nursing home.

Speak for yourself! I don't think I've ever known unbridled idealism and optimism

I often thank my lucky stars that I got into medicine before I had time to find out what it was all about, because while I wouldn't necessarily have said "No - if I could do this over again I WOULDN'T DO MEDICINE IN A MILLION YEARS!!!", when the time came, the "Yes" would definitely have been more hesitant.

As it was, I drifted into it 😉

Oh don't forget the 400 lb woman who comes to your clinic with the chief complaint of: MAH BOGINA BE ITCHIN!

Oh magnificent Lord Virchow, I offer up a prayer.

quant needs more interviews.
quant is receiving little love from programs.
quant is an excellent candidate.
quant is at an institution where it's football program is way overrated, but that is not his fault.
do not punish quant for that.
if it is in your infinite wisdom to show some love to quant, please do so in a timely manner as quant is growing quite impatient.
may quant enter the wonderful world of pathology.

in your name we pray,
amen.

Go Blue!

Basanez sucks balls. Now the sportscasters can just STFU about Basanez and his lame-ass spread offense. They're just lucky we didn't break their star freshman running back's arm.

OK for Michigan to win the Big 10, Wisconsin needs to lose to Penn State and Iowa. Penn State needs to lose to Michigan State. Michigan needs to beat Ohio State.

It's not gonna happen but one can always dream.

Evidence that pathology training does not make a man more observant:

Scene 1: Enter deschutes walking down hallway

Male Path Res1: Hey des
Male Fellow: Hey, you look different! You look nice.
Male Path Res2: Hmm, you're right, she does look different.
deschutes: I grew two inches

*all three males look at deschutes' feet*

Scene 2: Enter deschutes looking for stray slides

Female Fellow: ...Hello des, you changed your glasses?

*enter surg path resident*

Female Path Res: Hey you changed your glasses!

Didn't actually get to see much of it - saw snippets while waiting for a dinner table last night, the rest I missed because I was at a freaking party. But yeah, looks like that offense really lit up the stadium  UM's stats don't even look that impressive.

Oh bloody hell!

OK, Michigan's stats were far from impressive. Actually Basanez (pronounced Bass-a-nay cuz he's f*cking french or something) had twice as many yards as Henne last night. Their offense actually killed themselves on many occasions because their center #52 would keep committing holding penalties cuz he was half the size of big boy Gabe. Plus, we held on to the ball for long stretches of time so that their offense never had a chance to get into any sort of rhythm.

Yes, we gave up like 400 yards. And that is pathetic by Michigan's standards. But hey, didn't they average something like over 600+ yards of offense per game. F*ck it. We'll take the win.

Indiana doesn't count. Bring on the Buckeyes! In fact, I hope to be in Ann Arbor just in time to go to that game.

Ha - too bad I have no extras for that game.

I think we should do this daylight savings **** every week, provided of course I am not on call.

Bloody hell, indeed!

That's OK. I'm gonna meet up with some of my old lab chum from back in the day and we're gonna buy tickets from scalpers. I'm coming with $500 in cash.

Worst case scenario...I watch the game with the crew at someone's house and we get wicked pissah while watching the game on TV...this too is a very good option.

bloody hell, if you think you're gonna make me feel jealous for having tickets to that game already...well you're right. f*cking bastard.

Nope, I'm handing out candy!

Our applicant today spotted an impressive amount of Halloween candy on the tour trail.

I was very impressed, despite my lack of sleep - I had missed quite a few, due to my lack of sleep. 👍 👍

I was on call last night and just when I was about to leave found out about the poor sap in the OR who was in the process of losing 37 liters of blood intraoperatively. He had a sarcoma of the IVC which was wrapped around the aorta as well.

How were supplies?

They were ok, but we were fortunate in that that was the only problem patient at the time. We were down to like 40 platelets (8 five packs) and had 3 patients on ECMO. Then the nightly delivery showed up, early this time!
