I'm pretty sure I'm only getting 2-3 hours of sleep a night (I'm one of those people that truly needs ~8-10 hours to feel good the next day). Between sleep apnea and waking up from nightmares (same one almost every night-I send an email to an important person, only to realize I spelled their name wrong :smack::laugh:), I'm starting to feel like a shell of a human being, lol. I'm hoping I can take a nap this weekend or something.

I’m watching the Ford/Kavanaugh testimony and Lindsey Graham just called DR. Ford “Ms. Ford” on MULTIPLE occasions and there are SO MANY THINGS about this hearing that are making me rage but I feel like this attitude from Graham just summed it up pretty well. UGHHHHHHHH
(I am literally sitting here yelling at my TV and wishing I had popcorn to throw at it)

So a doctor I work for decided it was okay to hit a dog today. He literally cranked his hand back and hit the dog in the face. I think it’s time to find a new job...
Was he trying to get bit? Because that's a good way to get bit.

I did enjoy Kavanaugh just getting scolded and told if he keeps repeating the same statements they would make sure he had that FBI investigation. He is so smug.

I almost bit him myself! Lol. In all seriousness though, the pup came in sweet and left with fearful aggression..it tried to bite me when I pet it after that.

YOU GUYS! THIS EXCHANGE HERE!
“have you ever become aggressive while drinking?”
“Well the answer to that is basically no... unless you are about to bring up an example to the contrary”
So.... the answer is no unless you have evidence that it is yes...? What?

It’s all a joke man. He keep giving ambiguous answers

So today has just been a crap day for grades....
Failed my O chem II lab quiz because I didn't have the structures of aspirin and salicylic acid memorized and couldn't draw them. and we got our grades for the first O chem II exam back. Lowest grade I have ever received. Ever.

I'm just.... UGH right now. 🙁

Yo! Maybe your teacher curves tests? The class average of my first test in Orgo 2 was in the low 40s lol. The teacher curved needless to say

My ochem professor not only curved the individual tests, but then must have also curved the final grades because I somehow ended up with a B when I definitely should have been failing.

Keep your head up! See if you can talk to the professor about the things you missed, how to prepare better for the next test, etc.

He added 8 additional points to everyone's tests because they were so low. Lol

He does add points to each test, plus the lowest gets dropped. So luckily, I dont have to worry. I'm just sad because I'm dragging ass this semester because I'm not enjoying any of my classes. I had to take classes that would fit in my work schedule and count towards my degree, and none of them are animal related this semester. Lol the closest is my Ecology class and it's been just a bunch of review from other classes I've already taken. I'm at the stage where I want to pout, then kick my butt in gear and just deal with it. But I will be so happy when O chem is over. Lol

Honestly, Orgo was the hardest class I have ever taken. Every class after that has been a breeze, even physics and biochem. Just look towards that little light at the end of the semester!

That is rough and no good for any attempt at functional thinking.

Can you do any sort of conditioning and send an email right before bed that you KNOW went through, so you have that feeling of successful completion to break the dream cycle?

And get the apnea taken care of if you can. It sucks.

I had an o chem exam with a 32 average one time lol

So this is supposed to have a relatively low success rate... This was attempt #3 on the same set of samples. I should have a band on some of them at 425. But, there is an obscuring contamination in the samples (not the blank) that is just a bit heavier.

Redid the whole group of 40 again today and set up next week's embryos today, but between this and 2 other projects that don't want to work properly, I feel like I am banging my head against a wall.

Apparently the apnea 'isn't bad enough' to get a CPAP machine covered by insurance? It's been a few years since I did a sleep study though so maybe it's bad 'enough' now.

I don't even know why I'm having the email dream, I'm not even sending emails! The only thing I can think of is that I sent an email to a clinician a few weeks back and she never answered so I was paranoid that I made a mistake in the email (I checked, I didn't). I'm blaming it on the match, I'm pretty stressed over it.

My daughter had her last one a few months ago during her annual best month for breathing. Now she has all the honks and wheezes and whoops and pauses and retractions, so I need to get them to schedule another. It can easily change from month to month, let alone year to year.

Good luck!

Been sleeping terribly lately with crazy vivid dreams when I do finally nod off. To top it off this morning I was woken up at an ungodly early hour thanks to all the calf muscles in my leg deciding to cramp at once. Voluntary parasitic infestation has its downsides guys.

I don't have the attention span to turn on C-SPAN or whatever and watch the hearings live but I am entertained by some of the snippets I hear. Like

Mitchell: "Have you ever drank so much [alcohol] that you passed out?"
Kavanaugh: "Passed out would be, no. But I've gone to sleep. But I've never blacked out, that's the allegation. And that's wrong."

So what's the difference between passing out and falling asleep here? 🤣

To me, falling asleep is a conscious decision: I am going to fall asleep now. Passing out is an unconscious decision, your body says: uh, we are going out now. Falling asleep is usually in a bed or a soft surface. Passing out is on the dance floor, at the table, etc. Yes, I have done both. Again, just my thoughts. Black out is when you have no recollection of your actions, and your friends are telling you all the wild things you did...a la "the hangover".... 🙂

and for the record, yes, I did have an incident of drinking so much, I blacked out. scared the snot out of me. I danced on tables, danced in the hot tub (we were at a resort, that had a dance on Saturday nights), flirted with someone who was not my hubby, I was told there was something about hula hoops.....and I was not a kid when this happened...I was 48. I cut way back on my drinking at these events!

I don’t know if you watched any of his testimony, but this was just another example of him trying to avoid the question or not answer it directly. Or just ignore it completely.

I think that’s why Capri was amused 😉

If you take your shoes off, it's falling asleep. If they're left on it's passing out.

Human fetuses are rapidly growing parasites on their host
nah, she just injested fleas infected with Dyplidium caninum so she can lose some weight!

It’s funny, we actually had a discussion last year with our professors, during parasit, if pregnancy counted as parasitism. The general consensus was no, because it has to be a different species to count as parasitism, but kocough might feel differently.

There are actually several reasons why a baby doesn't fit the definition of a parasite, but I still think it's fun to think of them that way

I'm gonna need an explanation
Human parasite 😉 aka pregnancy

If that were the case this would be the most useless tapeworm ever...

Sure feels like an illness sometimes 😛

So still haven't talked to my sister since she had a meltdown re: me not wanting her to wear a white floral bridesmaids dress (the color I picked is a dark grey, she wanted to be special I guess?). Guess who called out of no where? I was hopeful for an apology for her being so obnoxious, but no...she just got a foster dog and needed veterinary advice. Gah.

“Sorry I’m not a vet yet you should take her to whatever one the foster group works with” :angelic:
I’m sorry pp that she’s being a butt 🙁

TIL that you have to deal with the same petty friendship BS in vet school as you did in middle & high school.
Sadly there are people who never move out of high school, even into old age.

But did you hear what Becky did? OMG she is SUCH a loser. (/s and apologies to anyone whose real name is actually Becky)

Turns out teenagers are just...humans lol sorry you're having to deal with that 🙁

My dog ended up in the ICU tonight. Profuse watery vomit that took me some time to identify as blood due to the color of our carpets. But as soon as he got into the exam room...blood. Blood everywhere. Even as far as HGE goes, it was pretty horific to watch.

I hope everything turns out ok, and I wish you steadiness and peace as you navigate this.
