Yeah. And when it's bad advice it just makes you grimace. 🙁

I still almost always tell people to go their vet. 1) They're usually asking about things I know nothing about, like their dog's ear issue, and 2) If you want my opinion, come pay my $122 exam fee and do the diagnostic work-up I recommend. I don't give that stuff away for free except for close friends and family members. 3) I don't play the "Internet Diagnosis" game.

I get that it is kind of an ego stroke to be asked for medical advice when you're just a student, but just don't. Isn't this the kind of stuff we hate? We hate seeing "see your vet in a few days after trying x" on various websites or FB sources. Why do I see so many vet students giving out legitimate (or illegitimate I guess, since they're students) medical advice in a FB comment? I mean...maybe they're more qualified than I am at this stage in my education and I'm just behind, lol.

:annoyed: I feel like my client today mat know this person because this is exactly what happened...(except theyou just said they looked online for a dose)
 
When I was a student, those moments were prime time for some self deprecation about not learning anything practical like that in vet school, lol. In fourth year I'd mention whatever absurdly over the top specialist procedure I'd recently been involved with for emphasis of how removed we were from IRL.

Now I usually just talk people through the diagnostics I'd recommend. But honestly I have a really good friend set and I think the last couple times I've been bugged it has been QoL stuff for old animals... which I'm happy to talk through with'em, because I know its so very hard to give it the emphasis it needs in a standard appointment time and I can give hospice-y resources and points to talk to their real vet about easily. :shrug:
 
Oh my god my skin is on fire. Non stop itching all day. I even did bad things with topical steroids... no improvement 🙁 and that normally takes care of it. I feel like I've done everything (lotion, eczema cream, humidifier, anti histamines) . Might ask my doctor for some hydroxyzine before I give myself a pyoderma.
 
I went to my doctor earlier this week for a routine appointment to get some refills and ended up getting the flu from some of the other patients. Dear body, if you could decrease your temperature that'd be super awesome. It's no fun feeling like I'm on fire.
 
Feeling a lot of guilt over my old man puppers. I feel confident he tore his CCL or maybe a meniscal tear, but it must have been a slow or chronic tear, because he was never lame...but he's got obvious medial buttress + internal rotation of the tibia when he walks. Ugh...but at almost 11 years old with OA in his opposite hip and a trim 60lbs...not even mentioning the fact that I could never afford a $1k+ surgery as a student...I just hate thinking that his legs are going to be his downfall and that maybe a corrective surgery could give him more years since he's otherwise a very healthy guy...

My heart hurts and I cry about it more often than I should...but I don't know what to do, other than continue on with pain meds, restricted exercise, and supplements. 🙁
 
Been feeling very sad lately because I've come to the decision that my dog should go stay with my parents for awhile. She's suffered from anxiety for years, mainly separation anxiety. However, the last six months it's gotten A LOT worse and she's developed compulsion tendencies on top of the anxiety issues. I think a lot of it is the lifestyle I live right now isn't suitable for her (I work almost 50 hour weeks and live by myself so she's all alone almost the whole day throughout the week).

I've cried over it more times than I care to admit but I know it's what's best for her happiness right now. Plus she loves my parents and has a huge yard to run around in and another dog to play with. Just sucks because I'm really going to miss her. 🙁
 
Train came right on time this morning, or so I thought. I normally get on an express train, but this one is definitely a local, and the conductors never announced it was a local when we got on. Some of us would have waited for the express that was right behind us (and has long since passed us). Oh, it's not like I have anywhere to be. 😡
 
We finally got orders and set up to move, except that we're apparently going to be moving again in July. I'm worried to make a decision about school with so much in the air, but accepting more than one feels insincere

You should have until April 15 - maybe you will have a better idea by then?

Yeah you can't be convicted if you did it because they stole your food. It's in the law. Pretty sure.

I hope so. I hate to wait until then, I remember how being on a waitlist feels. It looks like my husband will be staying with his boat just moving locations, but they're calling it "unusually arduous" which could mean he's deployed significantly more than normal in which case location sort of disappears from my decision.

Trying to plan life when you need to be stationary with a partner in the military is so difficult. My boyfriend is Air Force and will be up for new orders next year (after he finishes a year of short tour in Honduras that he's leaving for in July 🙁) and I'm going to be trying for an internship and then hopefully a residency the next year *sigh* I understand your plight!
 
I'm pretty sure that taking Tylenol or ibouprofen every 3-4 hours is supposed to bring your body temp down not raise it. And of course my rotation has two few students and I feel like utter poop still. I just want to be below 100f so I can help out my classmates 🙁
 
Silliest rant ever: I just finished watching the magnificent show Parks and Rec for the first time ( 😍 )and now I don't know what to binge watch.... I tried 30 Rock since I heard it had a similar feel and it didn't have the same spark.

I'm hoping they didn't take it on purpose, but they still should have realized when they got home and brought it back. Who wants to eat someone's 1/2 eaten sandwich and an open bag of chips?!

Love Parks and Rec! And agree about 30 Rock, couldn't get into it.

I loved 30 Rock. It took me some time in the beginning, but once I realized that I have an inner Liz Lemon (to go with my inner Leslie Knope), I loved it. I go back all the time to re-watch episodes from both shows. I also LOVED Arrested Development which also is a short and funny episodes. Sometimes a show ending is similar to the "finishing a book sads" for sure.

I haven't watched Arrested Development since it moved to Netflix (I liked it a lot), so maybe I should! Thanks for the suggestion!

I am sorry to learn about your loss. I wish I had the perfect words to offer to ease your pain because losing a loved one is one of the worst experiences anyone can ever endure in life. Kindly accept my sincerest condolences. Very sorry.

It makes me wonder how people pass their driver's tests when they park this horribly. Feeling petty and I don't have anywhere to be until 4:30 so I'm waiting.
