Backflips + newly spayed kittens just don’t mix! I wish I could make the kittens understand that.
1. What you feel is validated - if your are stressed, upset, etc how can you be in the wrong or be delusional? They're valid responses. I can think of 3 ways to handle that:
-continue feeling what you're feeling
-try to figure out if there are adjustments that can be made to make it more bearable (from personal experience, this is only ever temporary and eventually it'll be just as stressful)
-leave
2. Whenever I've left a stressful job, I've NEVER regretted it. The feeling is always "why didn't I do this sooner" . Just fyi.
3. However there is no guarantee that the next place will be any better
-and it's hard to tell how you'll like a place before you start. My favorite jobs have been ones that I really liked the manager/owner during the interview and has had less to do with my co-workers.
-the turn around of employees is a poor indication too.. I worked somewhere with high turn-around that I loved and stayed for 5.5 years, and a place with low turn-around (the others had worked there for 8+ years) that I stayed for less than a year because I didn't click with anyone.
I don’t think your were in the wrong entirely here. I do think that the vet should come forward about his stress to the manager if he wants things to get better though. Is there some sort of policy to run lab work same-day? If not, then running it overnight could be something that would be beneficial for patients who really don’t need it done right away. I’m not a vet, but where I’ve worked we never saw the value in running a CBC chem in house while the client is waiting in the room taking up space and time and being bored when it wasn’t urgent. It allows for a 15 minute appointment (we’d usually do 30 but that includes history from the tech) and quick turnover. You see more people, treat more animals, and everyone is happy.
But that’s sort of above your ability to bring up to the manager because, with how it sounds, they definitely would think that’s a recommendation that shouldn’t come from an assistant. I would definitely talk with the vet personally about this and let him know you’re concerned. I’ve had to very clearly tell both vets I’ve worked for that I was concerned for them, and both times it was appreciated. It’s obvious that if something is going to get done with this manager it’s going to have to come from the vet himself.
Somewhat petty rant: I also been told about people with tinnitus and I've always thought how that must suck... All day yesterday and this morning I've had a pulsing in my ear that's driving me crazy. I decide to look it up and it's a rare form of tinnitus 😢 I thought it would just go away on its own. It may be treatable because it's pulsatile tinnitus and not the normal tinnitus but that means more doctor's visits and I've had it with those recently. Just generally pissed off because it's not allowing me to focus or sleep because I just keep hearing my heartbeat.
Do you know why you had it or why it went away? This is the best news to me.I understand your frustration. I had pulsatile tinnitus last year, and it was the worst. I had to get a white noise machine and a very loud fan in order to sleep decently again. :/ Luckily, it went away after 2 months.

I'' be happy if it goes away even if it comes back randomly. Thanks skiHi I have pulsatile tinnitus on a semiregular basis you’re not alone! Mine will just appear randomly and go away on its own at some point it’s fun
Do you know why you had it or why it went away?
Lol very true! I can only hopeI don’t the exact reason why I had it. I’m sorry. :c I think it may have been due to stress.
Echo this experience. And the "Sooner" thought as in "Why didn't I leave years sooner?"2. Whenever I've left a stressful job, I've NEVER regretted it. The feeling is always "why didn't I do this sooner" . Just fyi.
I had the pulsatile variant this year, and it went away on its own I think after a few weeks. I don't know what root cause was, and I don't know why it went away. Now I'm just at my baseline regular high-pitched tinnitus.Somewhat petty rant: I also been told about people with tinnitus and I've always thought how that must suck... I'd like to keep my knowledge, everything else is negotiableMy claim was denied, but if you wanted to get together some sort of class action or something I'd be down!
You can doooooo iiitttt!I have my interview at Michigan State this Friday and I think I might be depressed enough to burst into tears in each interviewers' face
Oh god yes... I'm in my 6th year of my 4 year DVM. Please don't make me start over!!!I'd like to keep my knowledge, everything else is negotiable

I hate loan management companies. They somehow make things as freaking difficult as possible no matter what. The deferment on one of my loans apparently ended in June because they stopped getting notification that I was enrolled. Did they tell me about this? Well of course not. So now I get a "surprise! you have a payment due in 3 weeks." Well, I don't have any freaking money to give you so let me now run around trying to fix this because you couldn't bother telling me 6 months ago when I would have immediately noticed something was wrong and fixed it then. Thanks. Thanks a whole lot.
SAME. And I have two more finals tomorrow and Friday. The one tomorrow probably being harder.I can’t study anymore. I’ve literally run into a giant brick wall that will not let me pass. I’m done with 2/5 exams. I have biochem Friday, histo practical Monday, histo written Wednesday. Please make it stop.
Why does vet school make you hate vegetables, friend?I *hate* eaten fresh produce since school started).
I just hate most vegetables in generalWhy does vet school make you hate vegetables, friend?
Assuming typo but also never assume....

I love you finny. Wish I was in your class with you<3
Quoting is my kink.Preferably don't quote this because I might decide to delete it but...

Your acceptance would likely be conditional upon successful completion of the prerequisites. Contact the school and find out what their policy. Some don’t care if you’ve failed a non pre-req. If you fail a pre-req then you haven’t successfully completed it and don’t meet matriculation requirements typically.I saw rant here so I'm going with it.
I was recently accepted into vet school, but my grades have never been the best, and currently I am taking orgo for a second time with a new teacher because out old one left, because every prof leaves my school, and I am terrified that I am going to get another D. I cannot keep taking this class, it is literally eating away at me. On top of that I just got my grades back from my stats class that I took online at my old community college and I got a D, meaning I will now probably be kicked out of the honor society there and at risk of losing my scholarship for the 4 year I am currently at. I have never tried so hard in a semester to no avail. Like I am terrified I am going to fail my orgo final again tomorrow. I need to bump my grade by just about 3% points to get a C. Does anyone know if after a vet school rejects you they can take back that offer? My acceptance did not say conditional, but I figured all offers are conditional based on your final grades.
Just be you! Don't be overly concerned about making what you feel might be the answer they're looking for, and answer to show your personality. You got to the interview stage, which means you're qualified and good enough to be in the school. Take it one room at a time, and forget about what might be a bad room once that door closes behind youI have my interview at Michigan State this Friday and I think I might be depressed enough to burst into tears in each interviewers' face
Finnington,don't quote
It's very common for us to lose patients because things just don't run smoothly.
OMG i'm so sorry that was really unclear. Lose as in they transfer to other practices. The vets I work with are competent and people leave because of stupid logistical things (just pure disorganization), eg one time the manager forgot to advise a vet that he had changed her schedule last minute so she came 2 hours late (when she usually comes in) and the client was like wtf how does this happen.😱
Like they die!? Or they run away into the parking lot and beyond? Or like the clients get pissed and go elsewhere?
This begs so many questions. Like, it’s actually really hard to accidentally kill dog/cat patients on a regular basis even when you commit malpractice habitually.
Oh that’s not as exciting then. I mean good for the animals... but horrible management is like a dime a dozen in this profession.OMG i'm so sorry that was really unclear. Research is equally fun, as I can attest to.Oh that’s not as exciting then. I mean good for the animals... but horrible management is like a dime a dozen in this profession.
You're never really alone. There's always someone around (but not, like, in a creepy way). We've got your back and don't you forget it!I’m sitting alone
I thought of you this morning and said a wee prayer for a good interview. Hope it went well!I have my interview at Michigan State this Friday and I think I might be depressed enough to burst into tears in each interviewers' face
