Interview went great!!! Will hear back from them in the next couple days. I'm soo excited!!

I love getting packages from Amazon! Just got my new stylus and Bluetooth keyboard for my Kindle Fire a few minutes ago. Posting is so much easier with the stylus, can't wait to get my keyboard hooked up and try that out too!

And since I have a rather hefty balance on my Amazon gift card, these new toys didn't cost me a cent. 😀

I may or may not have eaten 1/2 a box of thin mints already.... 🙂

two years ago, my housemate's aunt left a CASE of samoas at our house. i love samoas but it was horrible. you can get tired of those.

i'm keeping away from the thin mints right now because i know it's not worth it so congested. yay being sniffly?

Played hookie from work today to help with my family. As much as I needed the money, seeing my parents and brother was really refreshing. Even though my bro and stepmom are sick. Dad wanted to take stepmom to the hospital and bro doesn't do well there. They ended up just going to the normal drs and we stayed at home playing Wii. 🙂

Got one of the SJP positions with Banfield over the summer. I applied to a few other things so I might still have options but it's nice knowing I have a job for the summer.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using SDN Mobile

I just remembered that I'm getting a free rabies vaccine with my new job! Yay for saving monies.

I've had the last five days off of work and I've done nothing but read all the issues of the Walking Dead and catch up on TV. It was glorious.

That's basically what I did last week when I had 6 days off of work and was on spring break from school. It was so GREAT.

Today has been amazing!! My interview went fabulous! This hospital is super cool! They have 20 DVMs, most are board certified.. They have 60 total employees.. They are the only hospital in TN to have an in house MRI outside of UTCVM. They also have a CT scanner, digital radiography, special ortho/ soft tissue surgery suites... They get electricity from the solar panels on the roof and have a rain water system to recycle rain water into water that is used to irrigate thengrass/ landscaping! They also recycle like crazy!!

5 hrs after my interview they emailed me offering me a Full Time position, making several dollars more than I make now!! I'm super duper excited!!!! 😍 😍

Then I get home and my box of Mizzou apparel was there!! My Mizzou wardrobe is coming together very nicely 😀 😀 im so excited! Today has been awesome!! 😀

I'm pretty sure I know which place you are talking about. It's off Sidco right? 😎 I know a couple techs there, one found a job closer to home (her commute was over an hour...) and the other still works Saturdays and Sundays. The facilities are very nice 🙂.

this was going to be a rant - i completely bombed both parts of the anatomy exam today. fill in the blank questions from our genius professor on the written were awful. the practical was worse - i took it next to one of our class's "anatomy wizards" so i felt (and i know this is crazy) like she was judging me for not knowing/writing down the answer right away. i kept mixing up parts of the names of the arteries and nerves, probably making up my own new names in the process. and then my brain basically short-circuited, and i couldn't think of anything except the same structure name over and over again. it was awful.
so i came home, email the school counselor and a tutor. then i texted the classmates i get along/study best with, and asked for help. that was a BIG step for me. even when i'm drowning, i've never admitted that i'm struggling, asked for help, or even let out a hint of weakness. after i sent that text, i started crying; i felt weak. but they all answered back right away, glad to help and offering support. then my dad and my sister checked in on me - my day said "i think you have more strength in you than you may realize".
it made me realize how much support i really have. i don't have to be superwoman. i always preach that people should ask for help, but i could never bring myself to do it. admitting that i needed it, and being shown nothing but genuine smiles in return was so comforting. i'm mad at myself for not asking for help earlier, but i'm proud of myself for finally reaching out for it.
so, the rave - i'm blessed by an incredible support system, more so than i initially realized. and by breaking down the barriers i've built in my own way, i might just get to see the light at the end of vet school.
(sorry for the wall of text. between being sick, sleep deprivation, and stress, it's been an emotional night for me. 😳)

Yep!! That's the one!! I'm super pumped!! 😍

It's raaaaaaaiiiiiinnniiiiiinnnngggg! 😀 *sings a happy song*

I love the rain. (It probably comes of growing up in a place with no weather.)

Sorry that anatomy didn't go so well, but really glad you have a support system. They sound like great people

I'm similar to you - don't want to ask for help or lean on others - but I've let myself do it in vet school and it makes a lot of difference. It hits me every now and again just how lucky I am to have such awesome people around me. Let them know how much you appreciate it 🙂

My rave: snow day!!!😀 (I have to study for toxicology but whatever.)

I'm looking on the bright side and making this a rave. I placed an esophagostomy tube today! It's in my kidney insufficiency dog, but this means no more SQ fluids every day. She'll be much happier with less needle pokes, and I got to learn a cool procedure. She is now recovering on my lap. 🙂

I'm in Tampa!!! Oh how I've missed Florida 😍

It is a wonderful day 🙂 It is my birthday so I am leaving work a couple of hours early to go on a short hike with my puppy 😀

Hope everyone is enjoying the first day of Spring!

I had a wonderful day at work. Fell in love with a beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog 🙂love🙂, was offered to work an extra day (they're adding an extra procedure day), was asked to come in starting at 8am on procedure days, and they have said they're going to start training me to work with patients starting next week. I'm so excited, I can't even express it. 😀

I had a really long and frustrating day today... BUT..... that is all over and I am now on a 4 week Easter Break... NO CLASSES for 5 WEEKS!!! (Ok, so I have exams that last week but still NO classes!)

I am going to enjoy these next 2 weeks as much as I can (have to study some) and then I am really looking forward to helping with lambing in 2 weeks....

So glad to finally have a break! :soexcited:

I love this song it puts me in the best mood. 🙂

Standing in the hall of fame
And the world's gonna know your name
Cause you burn with the brightest flame
And the world's gonna know your name
And you'll be on the walls of the hall of fame

There's some good stuff in those seminars. Mostly not but some is. But congrats!

Wahoo! I high-fived katryn in the hall today. Know you all are pretty stoked! Congrats!

Thank you! I promptly celebrated with a breakfast combo and red velvet pancakes, cream cheese icing and all. 😀

Red velvet pancakes sound delicious.

I am having so much fun coming up with the backstory for my superhero character (we're starting a Mutants and Masterminds game). Her family dynamic is really great!

:soexcited: Not only is class over, but I am done with every bit of everything else for school that does not involve showing up to sit and listen. Accreditation lessons are done, FEMA training is done, my portion of the (in my opinion stupid) foreign animal disease presentation is done; all I technically have to do is study for finals. Which means that I can enjoy my spring break without feeling like I still have things to do!!!!! 😀

So Happy!

....Oh, and there are only 5 finals (unless you still have an elective final).

had a client today that went to the shelter and adopted the most special needs cat they had there - a kitten with brain damage from coding during a neuter. he's mostly blind with ataxia but they picked him and another to give him his best chance. And they are responsible

Whoops, my brain is so tired I thought there were 6 finals lol. And you've done way more than I have. I still have a few accreditation lessons and the FEMA training...and I have even thought about my foreign disease presentation. Yuck.

This makes my heart so happy 😍

Been on travel for work this week and boarding my flight home now! My husband is bringing the doggies to pick me up and I'm excited to see all 3 of them!! 😀

This makes my heart so happy 😍

mine too. I have a soft spot for kitties. I'd prefer to be feline only or at least see all the kitties at our current practice since at least one of the other doctors is afraid of them 🙄

😍 for special kitties.

My rave: I had an amazing day at the SAVMA symposium. Really cool lectures in the morning (got a business card and a promise for free Oxbow ferret food when it's finished development!), spent the afternoon learning to do tooth extractions, then evening at a crawfish boil. (Yum!) Also ran into Emiloo on the bus back, which was fun. 👍 Sad to go home tomorrow.

There is a kitty very much like that at one of the clinics I've volunteered for. She was one of a litter and two of them reacted very strange to anesthesia and one died, she lived - but the clinic kept her because they were all destined to become barn cats. She's an odd cat for sure - also blind - but when I was there I just fell in love with that cat. By the end of my two weeks, I would sit down and make a brushy-brushy sound with my hand on my pants leg and she would actually come up to me because of the sound and let me put her in my lap and pet her, and she wasn't too much for cuddles normally. I would have taken her home if not for the distance, the litter box issue, and the fact that she didn't like other cats.

I have a rave - just something I was pondering and wanted to share.

I may hate vet school sometimes... well, most of the time... but I have one professor that I can go talk to about anything, anytime, and basically just talk **** with whenever I need to vent, and I have three friends that I have made that I know will be my friends for the rest of my life, no matter what. And I'm thankful for that.
