Going sailing this weekend
(not that I'm excited or anything that I found a swimsuit that fits me too (in my clothes)...so no swimsuit shopping was needed)

Back from my weekend. Got rained out yesterday, but still exhausted. Time for a nap then getting to business on a few things...like updating the driver's license to the current address might be a good idea.
It's overrated. Unless you had to change your tags on your car, I would say don't bother until the first one expires (or is close to doing so). That way you can get them both out of the way on that day.
Also, don't change one without the other, cause that's a ticket in some places (secondary offense only though).
First day of "real" clinicals today. Ugh. Even after 4 "orientations" in 4 weeks, nobody knew what we were supposed to be doing.
I almost don't even care if I'm learning anything; I just don't want to be useless and a drag on the residents.

What the heck do you all do between boards and wards, just vacation? If so, WTFLUCKY. I finished OB today though! 🙂

Damn. I had like a week or less to get my stuff settled. Now I have to take the shelf tomorrow and move this weekend. Eep.

So, did you quit the mod job for right now? I'm confused by the badge.
I think it is a black sash in memory of All4MyDaughter's loss.
What happened to her? Was totally unaware of the situation. 😕
2 weeks of freedom left. Will definitely have to get organized.
McNinja's correct. I thought I had been retired until I heard about her loss. It's a black band of mourning.I think it is a black sash in memory of All4MyDaughter's loss.
I am debating about going on hiatus since 3rd year is starting up...So, did you quit the mod job for right now? I'm confused by the badge.
I got out of pre-clinicals in mid-May. I took 5.5 weeks of board prep. The next Monday I started a 2-week elective, a week of vaca, and then the wards. Or outpatient, in my case. Many (~40%) of my classmates took 8+ weeks to study for boards, and took the exam the weekend before clinicals. Others, because they're in a separate program, took Step 1 early so that they could do their mandatory international away elective. What the heck do you all do between boards and wards, just vacation? "Mr. Greenwood, you're violating a subdivision rule that prohibits pickup trucks in your driveway," the notice reads.
Stonebriar HOA rules allow several luxury trucks on driveways, including the Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Avalanche, Honda Ridgeline and Lincoln Mark LT.
But most Ford, Dodge or Chevy pickups are restricted.
"The high-end vehicles that are allowed are plush with amenities and covers on the back. It doesn't look like a pickup," he said. "It's fancier."

As a part of their program (4-yr BS + garaunteed admit to med school + longitundinal courses in public health issues), they have to do a 4-week away elective between 2nd and 3rd year. It has to be in a different health system. I don't know any more details, but some program kids had to take step 1 before they were ready.
Eh, not much, but I should log in every day to check on things, and I don't have the ability to do that now - no internet at home, no internet at my outpatient site. How much time does the mod job take?
So Peds is pretty rad. And we do call in the Peds ED, and I love it. Pretty much confirms a lot of my suspicions about my specialty choice..
In other news: On OB, EM still #1 😉
what Happened To Socute, Sleepymed, h24g, And Ineedsleep? Been A While..hope You Are All Surviving!
Ok, Hasn't Been That Long, But I'm Bored In Here Alone. Maybe Ectopic And Roja Should Start Padding Again.
So more and more I wish I had a program that used 28 day blocks instead of months. Worse still is that here they don't change on weekends, so the month is longer or shorter due to this.
Which wouldn't be so bad if October wasn't a 33(!) day month, and I'm on medicine, but November is 28 days, and I'm on a "cake" rotation. So if you flip those, it is basically an extra week of medicine hell. Plus, you only get 5 days off the entire medicine month, regardless of how long it is.
December is 34 days long, but you have a week of mandatory vacation in there.
