Regret College?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think there's a misconception about "prestigious research internships" and their effect on medical school admissions.

Here's the truth: they don't mean jack. It's just another research position. No one cares whether it's at Harvard or at Southern Arizona Methodist College. If you're productive and learn about the scientific process and how to critically evaluate your own and other people's research, you're great. A strong paper in a good journal from a no-name state school is infinitely better than jack **** from a "top" lab at MIT.

You're an undergraduate, get over yourself.
I just popped in to say you have an epic avatar... that is all

At first, I kinda did regret my choice for undergrad. But over time, I learned that I had the opportunity to make things my own here, and that we had a pretty kick-ass business school here too. At this point, I'd do it all over again because the last few years have been a fun ride, even though it didn't seem like that at first.

I do not simply regret college because of the hard work. I regret it because of the MANY MANY SLEEPLESS nights.

I will learn from my mistakes. If I have a child and they want to pursue medicine I will tell them the following:
-Do as well as you can in high school
-Go to a community college for 2 years or a low tier 4 year college
- take the easiest major possible
- take only the required science classes ( or maybe one or 2 other easy ones)
- get A's in everything
- take the MCat prep class every year or at least twice. To make up for the fact that your science classes may be less competitive than harder schools

If you do this, you will get in to medical school because I see that a lower MCat and high grades can get you in ( a 3.9sgpa and a 27 mcat) but a 510 MCAT and 3.0 sgpa in a killer, grade deflation , prestigious school will keep you out.
Just venting, lol.
