First round of acceptances to CMS went out today. I know of at least 7* people who got in, but there might be more. For all prospective BMSers, I'll do my best to keep the numbers updated as they become clear and I'm sure more people will come on here and share their stories/numbers as they hear over the next few months.

I think there were 9 or 10 that got accepted, not that that makes a huge difference.

Thanks very much. I really want to go to RFU. It is my dream.... Hope all goes well. Do you know if it is possible to get accepted into BMS with a low MCAT? I know I have to have a high solid MCAT for their CMS program.

This is just my experience, and I am not an international student (I'm not sure how big that plays a role) but I had a pretty low MCAT and told them I was retaking it in July and still got into BMS. I also had a lower than average GPA and no research. I'm not always sure what they're looking for though, and what goes into their decisions, so take that with a grain of salt.

It is good to hear this from you. Are you accepted into their CMS program? I think they look at your overall application. Plus demographic might play another role as well as students' diversity profile.

Has anyone been accepted to this program thus far? If so, can you post your stats? RFUCAS has been such a problem for me, and even though I literally had everything done back in December, I was not marked complete until today.
How do they mark you as "complete?" is it after you submitted your application and send it? Do they notify you by email or the application will appear "complete" and "verified" ? How long did it take to get your acceptance from the day you sent your application?

Not yet, but crossing my fingers.

I got in february....

You're a current BMS student who was accepted to CMS in February?
Oh no sorry I misread the post. I was rejected by CMS a few weeks ago I got in the BMS program in Feb. Congrats to all who made it in this year =)

Gottcha, just wanted to clarify. For what it's worth, I likely would not have gotten into CMS if I applied as an external applicant.

Hey I'm an M1A who did the BMS program last year and got in. I heard that all but one of the students who got into CMS early this year (not sure how many, likely less than 10) had A's. Also, the acceptance letters had a conditional acceptance of getting A's or B's in Physiology and Neuroscience. That shouldn't be a head turner because you guys are coming here to get A's and B's

Cool avatar! lol

So what happened to me - I had to wait until RFUCAS verified all my transcripts, scores, LORs.

Then RFUCAS sent my application to RFU. RFU then verified everything AGAIN.

Then they sent me an e-mail marking me complete.

From the time I submitted my RFUCAS to the time they marked me complete, it was about 4-6 weeks...and then after I got the complete e-mail, they told me it'd take 4-6 weeks for a decision. lol.

YMMV

So are you waiting to get their final decision now? When do you think you will get an answer?

Also I have a question from the people who completed their RFUCAS application. How many programs did you applied for since they separated each BMS branches in 5 different categories . Do you guys suggest to apply for all of them or applying for just one BMS(lets say business administration) is sufficient. Do you think applying for more than 1 subcategory increases my chance for acceptance?

I applied for one. Idk if it will increase your chances.

I was accepted to BMS (two years ago) with a GRE of 163Q/161V/4.5W. But their ideal class profile is constantly changing, so my advice is to score as high as you can on the GRE.
I saw that you were a BMS student and now a med student (congrats!), and I was wondering what your experience was like with the RFU BMS linking to med school. Did the program help you a lot in terms of getting in? And are you at CMS?

Thanks!

ADMITTED AS OF TODAY! I am so beyond thrilled. For those of you waiting, I got a call, by the admissions committee met Friday and decision emails should be going out by mid-week.

Same!! Got a phone call saying that I was accepted, and to look for an acceptance e-mail in the next 24 hours.

I'm so glad that now I have a plan!!

Woo so pumped! Do you think you are for sure considering actually going here? I think as of now it's my top choice.

Yes!!! It is my top choice right now. Wait listed at Georgetown and Cincinnati. Did you go to u of michigan by any chance??

Haha how did you guess! Yes, I graduated from there in May. Did you go there?

I am also waitlisted at Georgetown.

Haha yep!! I also graduated there last May! Weird. I guessed it from your screen name...go blue always.

what were your stats? I was 3.1/3.2 cGPA/sGPA and 37 MCAT

I am 3.0/3.3 with no MCAT yet, I am taking it May 22 but my GRE is 70th percentile! What was your major? I was Women's Studies with a Bio minor.

I am at CMS now - the linkage was very smooth. I am enjoying my M1 curriculum, am learning a lot, getting lots of clinical experience (at our free clinic), and have straight A's. I got a few scholarships entering into CMS from BMS, which is nice. RFUMS is really an amazing school and a great place to be. Faculty and staff really care about the students, and many of our professors are really gifted teachers. The cultural shows (South Asian, Pacific Asian, and African American) are really fun, and people are generally proud to be here. We had our All School Research Consortium today (3/18) with over 160 student poster presentations (3 of whom were BMS) and a fantastic keynote speaker who is high up in the NIAID. Plenty of high quality clinical and basic research projects were presented. I really can't say enough good things about our school.

The BMS program is challenging (and constantly changing) so expect to study hard and shoot for straight A's. People seem to forget it's a trial program where CMS tries you out to see if you are right for medical school.

Thank you so much, that was incredibly helpful and settled a lot of my apprehensions about attending RFU.

Is it late to be submitting the application now? My stats are 3.4 / 29 MCAT.

Also, is it possible to submit letters using interfolio?

Hey I am in your position and I looked around old threads - plenty of people last year got in who applied around this time/early to mid-April. Some of them got in off the wait list though.

I submitted my app on 3/16 (8 days ago) and they finished verifying everything for me today, so it didn't take too long (I believe a previous poster said he waited 4-6 weeks for verification). I had my transcripts sent a few days before I actually submitted the app, so RFUCAS already had everything by the time my app was in. Don't forget to send your MCAT THx PDF (if you've taken it) to [email protected] as well. Now I'm just waiting to hear back about my decision, but I don't know how long that will take.

Hopefully you and INOHELP can get your app in soon. I wouldn't say it's too late to apply, but I also don't think this is considered early either. :/

Hi people,

I wonder if you have selected the track you want to be enrolled in and if yes, which one did you select and why?
Also, I would like to ask previous BMSers if they have their notes available so we could borrow?

Thanks

Hey all I just applied to this program last week and really could use some help! I'm trying to figure out where to send my supporting docs (committee letter + official transcript) but I can't seem to find an address on the application website (rfucas?) any help would be appreciated!

I'm kind of confused on where to send the printout of my MCAT scores. Help?

here is their address you can find it in your RFUCAS under Academic History:RFUCAS Transcript Processing Center P.O. Box 9130 Watertown, MA 02471
For your LOR it should be submitted to Program Material via your referee.

Good Luck!

Gluck to everyone with the BMS applications! I just heard back from CMS today (2nd wave) that I will be matriculating from BMS. Looking forward to meeting you all in August!
Congratulations... If you do not mind could you state your stats?

My stats going into BMS were not considered traditional. Here's the kicker: sGPA 3.5, MCAT 22. Simply did not study effectively for the MCAT and thought I could still do well with unstructured studying. Borderline gpa from UCLA and extremely low MCAT score.

However, I did not let that mistake from my past hold me down when they gave me an opportunity to redeem myself at RFUMS. I studied my butt off and got mostly A's and B's, except for CMCB.

I finished with a 79.4% in Clinical Molecular Cell Biology; literally one test question away from getting a B. This was because I made a huge mistake by skipping the last page of the 1st combined exam (rookie mistake) Made another mistake on the 3rd combined exam by not reading the questions carefully (EXCEPT, NOT, etc.) and paid less attention to CMCB because I wanted to do as well as I could on the first Physio portion of the exam. Looking back at it, those two huge mistakes dropped me down from a solid B/potential A to a borderline C.

The rest of the year, I stayed focused and made less mistakes. The rest of my test scores from that point on were consistently 85% and above, curved. I did my best to show progression so that those two huge mistakes could be seen as flukes rather than defining examples of my capability.

I was also involved as much as possible without hurting my grades. This is not recommended because grades are most important, first and foremost. I did my best to balance my study schedule while participating in extracurriculars that were fun/meaningful for me; not just doing it for the heck of it. I would have burnt out early on if I didn't have fun/meaningful activities to relieve my stress so this was more of a personal decision to become involved.

Overall, I am stoked to be here at RFUMS and I'm sure that my genuine interest in this supportive community revealed itself during my CMS interview (December)

Take everything that I just said with a grain of salt because every individual will have a unique experience with their own story to tell. More importantly, none of us know how the admissions process works. We all make mistakes but what's more important is how we react to these situations. Do you give up or persevere? Mindset is extremely important throughout the year so make sure that you're ready to invest sweat and tears this coming year. It'll pay off when you receive that acceptance letter!

Anyway, I have to get back to studying. My year hasn't ended yet! Hope this helps!
