I know that for the most part schools do not want you to take pre-reqs during winter sessions. However, would it matter if I took courses that worked up to pre-reqs in the winter? What I mean is calculus is a pre-req for pharm school so would it matter if a took intermediate algebra or trig. in the winter? I would think not since they are not pre-reqs.

Also if I took the PCAT in january would I be able to get the results in by March 1 to mail them to schools?

Any help is appreciated

First off its always best to ask the schools personally about each class, especially with the online math class since I dont believe any schools accept online courses. However, most pharm schools require calculus I so maybe taking algebra online wouldn't be an issue if you take calc I at a college.

As for taking classes during the summer, it shouldn't be frowned upon if they accept those classes (most do) as for winter, I don't believe most schools accept these, but its always best to ask each school directly - make sure to do this before you register!

Thanks, why would they accept summer classes and not winter?

I know my university only accepts summer classes that are at least 5weeks (math & science ones) winter classes are too short.

so are winter classes 4 weeks? does this apply to only science and math classes?

at my school wintersession consists of a three week session during Christmas break. they offer many humanities courses, basic math and intro science courses. so i think everyone is saying that you shouldn't take math/science courses during winter classes because they are too short and many schools don't accept them. would they accept a humanities elective if you took it during winter session? I don't know, you'd have to ask the school.
check your school's academic calendar and see how the sessions are set up and get with your potential pharmacy schools and see what they will/won't take.
also, it is probably best to avoid taking difficult courses during such condensed terms anyways. I've taken a political science course during a short session and it was pretty intense. I've heard horror stories from those who have taken more difficult classes.

as for the jan pcat, it tooks pharmcas almost 5 weeks to receive my scores. i took them 6/23 and they got them 7/27.

You may want to recheck that online course statement. I took my only calculus course online, and so far no schools have had a problem with that.
