Has anyone heard from SJSU admissions yet for Fall 2011?

SJSU had at least 175 applicants this year for 32 spots. Is anyone here going to attend SJSU's OT program this fall?

You've got all the good info FutureOT2013! haha.. Wish I knew the stats for Tufts and Unv. of Pitts... I can only imagine everyone experienced double or triple the applications.

For those of you who have been accepted and are planning on attending this fall, what were your stats like? SJSU is one of my top choices to get into when I apply this coming fall and I want an idea of what chances I have of getting in. And did you have all your pre-reqs and volunteering finished when you applied?

Also, I noticed they put up their new NBCOT test rates for this last year and they only had 14 graduates testing, of which 8 passed and 6 failed. 🙁 For those who are deciding to attend what was your impression of the program? I thought it was supposed to be pretty good but now those test stats are making me a bit nervous...

I don't know if I can trust those numbers. First of all there are only 14 test takers, but in the two prior years there were 73 and 65 respectively and those results were up there with the national averages. I don't think 14 is a large enough sample to jump to any conclusions about the program. Secondly, let's remember that OT is a profession that has gained more prospective students in recent years, meaning that it is going to be more competitive and the harder working students will get in. IMO, I think the national average of passing is still too low, hopefully that will change now that most programs are becoming impacted. I don't see the pass rates as a reflection of the program as it is a reflection of each individual student's learning ability or work ethic. I've had the crappiest teachers in college at the community college level in Oakland, yet I've still managed to learn the material that is expected of me because you adapt to the system in front of you. Besides, it sounds like the same sorta deal as the GRE, and I think the NBCOT is a bit more relevant, I think it has a lot to do with the student doing their own part, identifying their area of need, then addressing it.
