Yale just accepted me!
columbia and duke still says "reviewing"
Congratulations on Yale! That is exciting. I don't think I'll be hearing back from UWash and UCLA 'till later today 'cause of the time difference. This wait is killing me though, I've been refreshing the SMDEP page on my ipod touch quite frequently.

The SMDEP National Program Offices technical staff is working to resolve the issue and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

I received that email, too. Hopefully it's delayed a few hours. This has been driving me insane all day. Not cool.
WHy is it so disorganized! AHHHH so not fair that some people have heard back and the rest of us haven't. BUT at the same time I am glad it is a technical difficulty because I was starting to wonder what was going on!
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

i also think that the school that you are undergrad at makes a big difference. competitive programs like these understand that gpa is extremely subjective to the institution.Freshman in Biological Sciences
Hispanic
GPA: 3.46
SAT: 1720/2400
2 LORs, both from science professors. One AMAZING one considering she barely knew me and I had a B in her class. The other didn't even write a letter.
Tons of volunteer and service hours, including some abroad. (i also included some volunteer/charity activities I organized during my high school years)
So yeah, my stats are not that great especially my gpa (2 Bs).
I think my essays were pretty strong though and that may have definitely helped.

edit; whoa! check out the 32 guests viewing the topic. haha... wonder if any of them have had some replies....
Pitipua, you give me so much hope. your gpa sounds just like mine. and I'm hispanic too. 🙂
dont worry nina528.....don't think of it as if u weren't good enough for Yale but rather Yale wasn't good enough for u....maybe u would feel better looking at it that way lol.....but no seriously i hope for u the best at those schools that you are being "reviewed" for
I've been freaking out all day!!
I applied to Houston, Case Western, and Washington.
All three still say "in review"
🙁

I had a strong hunch they were going to delay the admissions decisions because of the weather in DC. They should consider changing the way they process everyone's applications in the future. It would make more sense if everyone applied individually to each place rather than every app going through the DC office. I have estimated around 10,000 applicants total between all 12 locations which means 20,000 recommendations that they have to process and 10,000 transcripts they must process. I question the efficacy of this process haha.
Also, I applied to Nebraska, Louisville, and Houston. All of them are being reviewed but they haven't received one of my recommendations which was sent 3 weeks ago so I called them last week and they had me re send it. Kind of upsetting.

Ah ... I give up. I have 3 exams to study for this week. I'll check back later tonight.
Hey guys, I'm new on here....I'm so nervous as well..but I just keep praying and speaking it into existent that I will get the opportunity. Congrats to all that already got accepted. I hate that they delayed it, I was so hyped this morning to find out...I applied to ULCA UWash and Howard...Right now only Howard and Uwash is in reviewl..Wish UCLA said review lol..making me nervous...I hope we all get it!!!!!!!

I agree. My pre-med adviser had to fax my form 3 times AND mail it. It was just received on Wednesday (original send date was January 14th). When I called the office they said that "they were losing forms" because of the "gigantic flow" of applications near the deadline. A centralized application process loses all its convenience when they can't get it right=(
On the website, it only says that it'll be open from 9:30 AM to 4:30 pm eastern time. Since it's already 5 now, I don't think it's worth waiting for.
I'll just concentrating on writing a class essay that will be due tomorrow!
Hopefully, we'll surely get the result tomorrow! Good luck to those who haven't heard back yet!!

mmm, i'm still going to keep checking. I know that my view status page was updated after 430pm when they were still processing my application so maybe there's still hope for tonight?..
Hey guys, I've been reading the forum closely but just registered. I found out I was accepted to Yale this afternoon, but still waiting on Columbia and UW.
Excited about Yale!

Oh awesome! Congrats on Yale! But r u a minority?
the same thing is happening to me but with ucla!!! .......
maybe mr tang and nina when u two submitted ur materials not all the schools recieved ur materials on time so they were just quick to make an admission decision...but now maybe they got all your stuff so they are able to review it....i guess thats a possibility...
