Yale just accepted me!
columbia and duke still says "reviewing"
Congratulations on Yale! That is exciting. I don't think I'll be hearing back from UWash and UCLA 'till later today 'cause of the time difference. This wait is killing me though, I've been refreshing the SMDEP page on my ipod touch quite frequently.
I have a 3.6 which isn't the greatest GPA in the world either.
Wow this is really depressing. haha
I'm a 2nd year.
thanks Acoustica and NorCal!!!
so nobody has heard from anywhere else?
i also think that the school that you are undergrad at makes a big difference. competitive programs like these understand that gpa is extremely subjective to the institution.Freshman in Biological Sciences
Hispanic
GPA: 3.46
SAT: 1720/2400
2 LORs, both from science professors. One AMAZING one considering she barely knew me and I had a B in her class. The other didn't even write a letter.
Tons of volunteer and service hours, including some abroad. (i also included some volunteer/charity activities I organized during my high school years)
So yeah, my stats are not that great especially my gpa (2 Bs).
I think my essays were pretty strong though and that may have definitely helped.

edit; whoa! check out the 32 guests viewing the topic. haha... wonder if any of them have had some replies....
I had a strong hunch they were going to delay the admissions decisions because of the weather in DC. They should consider changing the way they process everyone's applications in the future. It would make more sense if everyone applied individually to each place rather than every app going through the DC office. I have estimated around 10,000 applicants total between all 12 locations which means 20,000 recommendations that they have to process and 10,000 transcripts they must process. I question the efficacy of this process haha.
Also, I applied to Nebraska, Louisville, and Houston. All of them are being reviewed but they haven't received one of my recommendations which was sent 3 weeks ago so I called them last week and they had me re send it. Kind of upsetting.

Small rural unranked school, 4.0 GPA, 2 LOR's, Lot's of volunteer, Well thought out essays and I suppose that's it. Yale is definitely my first choice.
