Program-Specific Info / Q's Stanbridge MSOT 2020

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just got a call from my Admin Rep and I was admitted to the program just this morning. Once I get the email, I will be declining my seat. Between the schools I am accepted to so far, I am going to go with USA-San Marcos. Good luck to those who are on the waitlist!

Congrats on getting accepted! Thanks again for taking the time to answer questions on here. Hope you don't mind if more questions come up. Good luck to you at USA-San Marcos!

Thank you! No worries if there is any questions I am more than happy to answer. We are all going on the same journey and should help each other. 🙂 The application process is daunting and this forum honestly makes me feel so much better. 🙂

Hahaha same!! I check this forum multiple times a day. I was wondering if you could talk about what seemed sketchy with the program? Stanbridge was my last choice, but it has been the only school to accept me/ heard back from and I am concerned about the price

I didn't find the program sketchy, for me it was mostly cause I have been in Irvine for such a long time I wanted to try somewhere new. Since I was a UC Irvine undergrad (4 years) and then worked for the school for another 4 years, I have been in Irvine for 8 years. Though it is a nice city, I just wanted a change in environment. Since the tuition for USA San Marcos is same/close to Stanbridge, it didn't make the decision too hard.

I think the biggest drawback for me when it came to Stanbridge is the three days a week for class from 12 PM-9 PM. I rather have classes more spread out since I feel it is going to be exhausting. If I were to go to Stanbridge, I most likely would commute from home and traffic is horrendous for me 60 miles round trip and 3+ hrs on the road. After doing it for so many years, I just didn't have it in me to do it again.

As for the fieldwork, I heard it was all going to be in California, which I felt limited to the experience I could get. San Marcos offered more choices when it came to fieldwork and I am opened to go to another state.

Overall, Stanbridge is a good choice, but for me I wanted to try a new environment.

So if you have any questions about Irvine, I would be more than happy to answer 🙂

I was wondering for those accepted, how long after the phone call do you receive the official email? My admin rep asked me to accept or deny through the email. 🙂

I did. I personally didn't like Stanbridge after attending their info session. The school just looked to sketchy for me and I didn't want to invest a lot of money towards a school that wasn't organized. They did call me to schedule an interview a week or two after but I declined it.
Hi! I was wondering what about the program did you think was sketchy? I am feeling a little nervous because it is the only school I have been accepted to so far

I received the email i think 1-2 days afterward! It wasn't from my admin rep though!

For those who have interviewed at Stanbridge, do you have any tips?

It is kinda hard to prepare. Since the questions really are random and you draw from 3 separate boxes. I would advise that you pay attention to what the others in your team say and think of how to answer when they are speaking. I personally think it says alot about you if you can incorporate what others say in your response to your question. For example, I think my question was "how do you define flexible?". I used what the previous person said "being able to analyze and change accordingly" and incorporate and provide an example.

Though you are trying to stand out, be sure to also be able to show you can work together as a team. If you get there early, try to chat with them and create a bond as you will be working together. As your cohort will be your family, it is important to show you are a team player.

I think being your genuine self is ultimately the most important. I mean if you don't end up getting accepted because of that it just shows that isn't the place for you and this is perhaps for the best. I think knowing that made it less stressful for me. I know...easier said then done. 🙂

The writing prompt I just used examples in my life.

Good luck I hope this helps.

I also felt a better vibe at USA San Marcos. The fact that Stanbridge was 10K more than San Marcos also swayed my decision. I also know a PT who is currently there and another OT in FL campus and they both like USA.

How long after the interview did you receive a call?

Then how long after the call did you receive an email?

Do you guys this COVID-19 is going to have an impact on the start date of the program?

Possibly. Many schools are doing online only incl orientation until they get the all clear.

Hey guys
I've been following this thread but my account delayed in getting created so I couldn't reply. I interviewed for Stanbridge University on April 24th, I've been accepted as well. My stats are below.
GPA- 3.7
GRE V and Q 147 A 4
Observation hours-78 (3 different settings)
I also had a prosthetics internship for 5 months, been a PT tech, orthotic fitter and currently behavioral technician
I'm coming from Michigan, does anyone have a Facebook page for accepted students I would really like to get to know people and see what's around! I'm really interested in joining volunteer groups at the University as well!

I got in to Stanbridge today but I declined my seat. Hopefully it helps someone on the waitlist. Good luck! I am attending St Augustine in San Marcos.

I also got into both Stanbridge and St. Augustine San Marcos. I am currently debating between the two schools, but it is hard because I haven't been able to visit either of the schools. What made you choose St. Augustine?

I also interviewed on the same day as you. Did you get an email saying you were accepted conditionally? The email said I had to have another interview in person with the director, but I'm not really sure what that means.

I decided to decline my seat since I received a better opportunity. Hopefully it helps someone on the waitlist. Good luck! 🙂

Just got the official acceptance email/letter today and have turned down my seat! Good luck to the rest of you guys. 🙂

Hi! do you mind writing what your stat's are? I'm highly considering on applying to Stanbridge. 🙂

Would you all rather transitioning online for classes (temporarily due to COVID) or start classes in-person?

Would you all rather transitioning online for classes (temporarily due to COVID) or start classes in-person?

Honestly I think it'll be okay for now for online classes, but come time when we are doing hands on experience, I would definitely want to be in person. But of course it all depends on COVID.

I applied to Summer 2020. Unless the other schools don't reply by April, I'll most likely try to defer to Fall 2020. So we'll see. 🙂 But yes I'll update you! 🙂
I was wondering if you ended up deferring?

I would like to defer as well if I’m accepted by stanbridge, but do not know if they allow it or how it works.
Thank you so much!
