Kidding.someone said that the admissions committee meets on thursday night... does anyone know if this is true? ... tryin to figure out if i should stop worrying everytime i get a phone call... haha

I know that they meet on Thursdays. In fact, I know that they meet today.
I do not know what time of day they meet.
how do you know that they meet thursday? did they tell you at your interview?

At our interview, they said that the adcoms were on Thursday. They told us that we should hear on the 4th (the first adcom), or at the latest on the 11th (the date of the second adcom). I was at one of the first interview dates.

They said there would be a phone call for acceptances. However, this information may turn out to be inaccurate, given that nobody got a call last week.
I'll still be very anxious tonight and tomorrow.

They told us at the interview that they would call in the evening. However, much of what they told us seems to have been inaccurate. So who knows...
i hope that they call tonight, but tomorrow is also a possibility. i just hope i dont have to wait another week!!!

we also thought that they would call a week ago, but that turned out to be wrong!! so right now i dont know what to expect...
I would not expect a call tonight. We have no clue for sure if they have even had an adcom meeting or not, and whether or not they will call if they did. They said at the interview that we would hear on the 4th, and that didn't happen. I wouldn't get my hopes up about hearing tonight... it's already almost 9:30 on the east coast.🙁
They told us, specifically, "if you get in you will hear Jan 4th, or at the very latest Jan. 11th." Yet nobody has heard...
i faintly remember the same thing. if someone on SDN doesnt hear tonight, which i doubt, i think its probably safe to assume that the adcom has not met yet/ or has not decided. maybe if i have some free time i will give the office a call tomorrow.
as towelie said earlier, i wish that they had never told us anything in the first place...

I don't want to mislead you in any way, but I do know someone who got a call a couple hours ago. I don't know how many calls they're making this time, or how the entire process works at Stanford. But I can't imagine that they have gone through ALL the applications yet, so have hope!

Can anyone else verify this? I find it strange that not one person on SDN or mdapps was contacted, nor were the 2 people I know who interviewed there early (3 including yours truly). Maybe they are waiting until today to call the east coasters 😀
I really wish admissions would just send us an email and let us know what's going on.

I figure west coast, given how late the last post would be on the east.
Last year, east coasters often heard on Fridays, not Thursdays.

-Dr. Garcia's phone calls are made in addition to the written acceptance as a courtesy, but not everybody gets one (or so it seems).
-The earlier you interviewed-the earlier you may be notified (might be somewhat common sense, but it's nice to hear from the office).

Ok so I got the guts to call... reached some lady, asked when the first batch of acceptances will be released... and she goes "it takes a couple of weeks". What does that even mean?!?! So I clarified my question, she asked what my last name starts with, then redirected me to a voicemail box.
So... ya, I guess I'm never ever calling again lol.
