you are not alone:laugh: because if you take a look at class of 2011 most of the students are around 26-40.

UK attracts more younger students or something? well i think having old students might not be so bad because they are more mature....

I am sure they get some. The people I know at UK COP are younger than myself.

I sent my stuff toward the end of Septemeber. I talk to them (PAIGE) early this week and they told me that my file would be reviewed by the board as soon as they met. During the whole month of October they didn't meet to look at new applications. So I think I will hear something from them tomorrow, if not early this week.

3.6 GPA
3.4 Science and Math

Many Extra activites, A lot of Pharm Experience, Research, and more.........🙂
 
I meant to say early next week. A majority of people who have been accepted had their apps in for awhile. I believe that if I had sent my app in early September or August I would have heard something..... But I keep hoping an waitting.

I submitted mine at the end of July and received an invitation via email on August 28th, so a couple weeks went by.

I don't think they are. You can always get a roomie which makes them a lot more reasonable as well.
 
Anyone considering Caribbean pharm school? I heard there is a pharm school in Cuba. It is pretty neat because the courses are taught in Spanish and English. I would go if I know how to speak Spanish. Imagine how awesome it would be to do rotations around the island.

I didn't know that was an option. I wonder if you run into some of the same problems students at carib medical schools do.

what problems? this school is associated with the U.S. so you can practice pharmacy here.

If I remember right, the biggest problem with carib med schools (discussed on SDN) was trying to get an internship/residency afterwards. Their MD's were still licensed, they just had some bumps in the road.

I think this will happen to everybody not just Caribbean people. Residency is tough and only the ppl with high stats will get it.. Caribbean med schools might not be bad. The ppl in the U.S believed the Caribbean schools have lower quality than the schools in the U.S. I don't blame them because Caribbean is a third world country so the education level can't be compared to the U.S. Pharmacy school in Puerto Rico might not be as bad as ppl think. The chances of getting in are pretty high.
 
A week has passed by.I'm patiently waiting for the notification from Sullivan. I think I did great on interview, so no regrets on that. but just getting nervous in general. Has anyone gotten any news from ADMIN lately? It's been quiet of people sharing their acceptance to school in this thread. I hope they had the meeting today so we can find out by new week! :xf:

I will say this, I grew up in the Caribbean for most of my life and the standard of education there is a lot higher than it is here. I am not sure about med or pharmacy schools there but to me that is a stereotype because islands in the Caribbean are third world so education there is automatically lower in comparison to other countries. Like I said that is just a stereotype.

yeah, the U.S is trying to shut out med students from the Caribbean. They have this thing called the California List where the states will refuse to give out license for Caribbean med students. However, there are no restrictions for Caribbean pharm students at this moment.

The only thing is that in my country (not sure if this applies everywhere else) they do not have PharmD degrees. It is a BS Pharm so you, as in pre-pharm students considering this route, may want to consider that if you plan on moving back to the States after completing pharmacy school in the caribbean.

nope......you can still work as an intern even if the school is not accredited.....the students at this school don't have to worrry about completing intern hrs because it is included in the program. This is why this school rocks!

A BS in pharmacy is equivalent to PharmD. There are still some schools in the U.S that offer BS in pharm. I don't see why they are begining to stop offering BS in pharm.

The distinction I was making was that one is a Doctorate and the other is a Bachelorette and the latter they are pretty much doing away with here in the States.

I thought all US schools switched to the PharmD around 2003. The AACP mandated that the PharmD be the first professional degree in pharmacy, vice the B.S. Pharm.

I'm trying to find a source for this. Can you give us an example of a US school that still offers the BS?

i think private University. I saw one previous post that said something about pharmacology class........i think his sn is Joestriman or something..... do you plan to get a BS in pharmacy?
 
As of 2000 the BS in Pharmacy is gone. All schools can now only offer a PharmD to pharmacy students and you have to have your PharmD to sit for your license.

Edit: There may still be a BS in pharmacology or something like that, but it is not the same and you can't become a pharmacist like that.

A BS and the PharmD are not equivalent. Both allow you to be able to practice....however there is a reason why pharmacy schools quit offering the BS and moved it to the PharmD.
 
Oh gosh .. just got my background investigation done .. i was thinking the report would also include the parking & traffic tickets, but none nada .. 😀
 
Anyone have an idea of how many seats could be left? Wife was going to send application next week. I'm thinking it's too late based upon the previous pages that indicate that Dec interview dates are filling up.

Any thoughts?
