Sullivan University Anyone?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
ok, I had the interview on Oct 30th. couldn't wait so I emailed Dr.Nash who was my interviewer. He responsed with the following message within 5 minutes.

"The Admissions and Student Affairs Committee is reviewing all applicants that have been interviewed and you should hear from the Office of Student Affairs once a recommendation has been made, which may be another couple of weeks."

sounds like they stop sending more interview invitations, but look at ALL applicants they have interviewed so far. Not one to one, but all in general. competition has begun..😕

So when is the last month of interviews? Jan? Feb?

End of December!

I can't say with certainty when the last interviews will be held. I can tell you that I interviewed at the end of January last year.

Also, as a rule of thumb, ADCOMs have already decided to accept you or wait list you before you interview. They use the interview to confirm their decision. If you perform poorly, you can fall from accepted to wait listed or from the wait list to rejection. Conversely, you can leap from the wait list to being accepted if you nail the interview.

Good luck to all!

Do you have any tips for the interview? I have no idea on how to prepare 🙁

That's interesting.

OMG I can't believe all the spots are filled up in this early admission cycle.

This year interview started in Sept. ADCOM DID NOT DECIDE THEIR DECISION before the interview. For example, the school gave 300 interview spots does this mean they already decided?? this is nonsense. " Conversely, you can leap from the wait list to being accepted if you nail the interview." If you nailed the interview, then why are u in the waiting list????

AnhPhung and Delano,

Don't think negative. Just continue on your application and submit it to SUCOP. If you cannot have your interview this year, you will be for sure next yr and ADCOM will put your application in priority. Remember it is ROLLING ADMISSIion. If you finish your application now, you won't have to do it next year. So, put your soul into it. Don't hear/read what other say. If you have passion in this field, you will be accepted just in matter of time.

GOODLUCK TO EVERYONE. I REALLY HOPE ALL OF US WILL BE ACCEPTED because "sTUDY OF MEDICINE" is OUR DREAM:xf::xf::xf:😍😍😍

Pharmacology is not my dream. Pharmacy is my dream. A pharmacist studies pharmacology but a pharmacologist is not a pharmacist. Just don't tell the ADCOM you want to become a pharmacologist because they will tell you to enroll at UofL.

I am also applying to other schools so I am not really being negative. I will see how everything else plays out with the other schools.

has anyone heard back from their september or november interviews? have they already filled the class and strating a waitlist?

I don't think they will put the application for those who didnt get an interview in priority. They have to get in line like the rest of us. Pharmacology is not my dream . I think there some schools that offer pharmacology courses.

Legit, for those who turn in the application now, they are already ahead of any next yr applicants. Besides, they don't need to do their applications because they can reactivate their file. Also, they have shown how they are interest in SUCOP's pharmacy program and not others.:luck::luck::luck:

Trust me I understand. I was just giving you a hard time. 🙂

Wes, you surely did give a hard time😡 hihihi j/k. But thank you though. And I know you are a very smart and experienced in this field. It is my pleasure to be here to know all of you 😍😍

they can reactivate but they are not ahead of the game. The school will decide who will get invite first. Everyone is treated the same. A person can apply to this school, but it doesnt mean hey are interest in the program. People just apply anywhere to get into pharm school.

Huong & Legit,

They do get an advantage over other applicants because their applications will be PROCESSED FIRST next year's cycle, but it doesn't mean that they will surely get an invitation - they may or may not.

Nervoushabit: I think I need to delete my post because I neglected ur feeling. To be honest, I never mean it; I just see people so concerning about their GPA and application status; therefore, I try to encourage people. I apologize for what I put down and forgive my negligence; I never mean it :luck::luck:

Yup, you're right. The earlier you apply, the better chance you have. Submitted my application in early August, interviewed on Oct 30, still waiting for their response.

Good luck to all of you who got interview. Hopefully we'll hear from them soon before Thanksgiving. 😀

Atleast you have other options. Do you want to attend SUCOP?

You know, I don't want to stick out because of my low GPA. I guarantee that's not why I was accepted. I was lucky, and I've been preparing for this for quite a long time. I wouldn't take my acceptance as an example, because:
1. I had extenuating circumstances (Legit ones too)
2. I have A LOT of extracurriculars that involve leadership and community service (I really do mean a lot). Plus I'm going on 5 years as a pharmacy technician for Walgreens....I think that says a lot....oh, and did I mention that I've been job shadowing since I was a freshman in high school, and have seen many, many areas of pharmacy? Seriously, it's not all about GPA.
3. My grades are actually decent, I just messed up in 2 classes and it dropped my GPA a lot, mainly because I'm only a junior and don't have a degree, which in turn means I don't have a lot of credit hours.

I'm happy to know that I am an inspiration, but I don't want people to think that just because I got in with a 2.96 means that anybody with that kind of GPA will get into Sullivan. This school will be one of the best schools in the country (I can feel it!) and they are looking for the best candidates for their program. So I would appreciate it if people would stop using me as an example for someone who got in with a sub-par (it's really not by much) GPA and not also promote the rest of my application. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. 🙂

nervous habits,

I'd just like to say that I am very familiar with your qualifications and I was not surprised when you got accepted. Anyone who sums up someone by a GPA alone is not paying very close attention - thankfully the adcoms at Sullivan were and realized a great candidate when they saw one! 😀

I agree with you amigo.

People need to leave NH alone as she is absolutely correct. Besides, everyone starts back at 0.00 7/6/2010.....may the best person win. 😉

Thanks you guys! 😀 It makes me feel better to know that I have people who agree with me. It just really makes me upset when someone on here uses me as an example without directly asking me what my other qualifications are. I am NOT an example of what it is like slack off during my prepharm courses, and still get into pharmacy school (not saying that everyone with a lower GPA slacks off....example of low GPA, but not slacking: Me.). It just makes me very upset when I get PM's from people asking me for advice because they went out and partied during their first few years, have a 2.XXX GPA, no work experience/ECs, and expect me to give them advice, especially since I came to my school to study my butt off and get into pharmacy school. However I should probably add that I love giving advice to people who deserve it.

You're fine, don't apologize...I wouldn't.

The reality of the situation is with an early admissions type system, you have a better shot of getting in when you apply early (more spots available) for all applicants. I was even told by SUCOP that applying early gives you the best shot of getting in. I have a 3.5 gpa, a degree in chemistry, a semester of chemistry graduate school, am a non-traditional student, & 8 years of pharmaceutical industry experience. I have zero pharmacy tech experience and little EC experience. The best things I had going for me was my age/maturity, my knowledge on the profession due to extensive research and interaction with many "in the know" people, and a solid science background from a really good local university.

I think I might even buy the pharmacy tech national book to start studying on the top 200 drugs and the such. I guess whatever I start doing now is just less that I have to do later right?

It wasn't a big deal. I just wanted to let everyone know that if they want to use me as an example, they should also use the rest of my qualifications. I've listed them many times because people have asked me things like "OMG, did you for real get in with a 2.96 or .97 GPA? Dude, guys, I have a chance!" Sorry, dude, but no, you don't, unless you have outstanding ECs, LoRs, and a decent smile 😛.

You are the lottery winner enough said:laugh: pharm schools have to let ppl in with low gpas because they have compassion for this profession. I don't know if ppl with low gpas are capable of getting good grades in pharm schools. Nervoushabits, i think it is ok for ppl to use you as an example. You give them hope👍 like that song "You are my sunshine"

I think every pharm school look at GPA and PCAT scores. Some schools look at your GPA first. Sullivan is an exception because it is a new school. I think a year from now Sullivan and schools in California will require PCAT. The door is closing soon. APPLY NOW!

Hey DuocSi2013, you should give other ppl a chance! don't be a seat hogger. USN is also a 3 year program like Sullivan. You should stick with one school and let people on the waiting list have a chance.

yup...she gives hope to everyone else. She deserves for what she gets with all her hard works including EC, leadership, experiences, etc. All her hard works, she really earns it. 👍:luck:

SUCOP just got rid of the requirement, they aren't bringing it back in one year. You are incorrect sir.

Schools have to look at that because it is on paper. Grades and PCAT scores get you interview...your interview gets your seat.

 so you are telling me class of 2011 required PCAT? I think schools are leaning toward PCAT as a requirement.

Legit,
Please be polite. Don't just assume that people are doing what YOU THINK they are doing. How do you know I am a seat hogger? I already accepted the offer from the school I want to attend and turned down the others, ok... 🙄
