Hello. I have gotten an internship this summer at a medical center with a stipend but the costs would still be pretty high of living there, etc. I wanted to know whether summer research during undergrad has an impact on benefitting residency applications. As some additional info, the internship is within the dept of surgery (my preferred speciality for residency) but it is uncertain whether I will be able to publish the research or not. Any feedback or comments are appreciated. Thank you.

I am not a medical student, but I would think that research done during medical school and not undergrad is what will help for some residency applications.

Well, it may help you get into a research lab during your med school so it could help in that sense.
