There is alot of movement and they are almost through the entire top of the top third.

Hey guys, sorry to be annoying, but could we all be a little more precise when talking about positions on the waiting list??
Like when you say entire top of the top-third, you mean the entire top 1/3 of the top 1/3, right?

Sometimes its just hard to decipher what part of the list we mean.

No and no. They don't even know you've been accepted till May 15th. Guys, stop being so anal about this (easy for me to say, yeah i know). You have your ranking, and it probably doesnt change no matter what, even if you sneeze very often because of your allergies.

hey, I would be totally shocked if that were the case, in fact that would probably make them want you more, not less 🙂
Also, the previous poster is correct, they don't have any way of knowing that until the schools share lists. The party line at UB is that the waitlist positions are set in stone, except they reserve the right to pick and choose as they get down to the wire. But "the wire" is early August. I would say with pretty much certainty that until then, they just go down the list and accept according to position. If you have time on your hands and want to check out last year's thread you can see when we got to your position (bottom of top 1/3, I think you said?). Off the top of my head, I would guess that we got there sometime in late May, but you can check that out. Your chances are excellent. I was in the middle of middle and I got accepted in mid-June.

Thank you for the post. I am at the bottem of middle third. I heard that last year they went through the entire upper and middle third. Do you know how long did it take them to go through the middle third last year? Thank you.

Ah good memories of waitlist fun...

Of the top of my head I think it took until near the end of July to get through the entire middle third of the waitlist. The waitlist stalled for a long time a couple times during the summer (don't remember exactly when) but I remember it stalled at the top of the middle third for a couple weeks and also in the bottom of the middle third for a month or so.

I was in the upper portion of the "upper third" (top 1/9) of the waitlist and I was accepted today. I interviewed in early March. I can only imagine when May 15th rolls around how fast it will start to move.

I would say that anywhere in the bottom 1/3 is a position where you're in a crap shoot. Although quite a few people did get in from the top of the bottom 1/3 last year, they got in very late and really had to scramble. For at least the past 2 years I know for a fact that UB has run through the entire first 2/3 of the list, so historically your chances are good if you're in that position.

I am sadly bottom 1/3.. I am thinking about starting my 2007 AMCAS application next week just in case. What do you people think?

At second look day, there was definitely a reference made to all of the "Where am I on the waitlist?" phone calls that Mr. Rosso has been getting 😉
A few of the people at second look had actually gotten in off the waitlist.

I interviewed back in January, was placed on waitlist and I was accepted off the waitlist in March. I withdrew yesterday.

I think that the waitlist has started moving in earnest, so good luck!

hey ismelllikepoop...what do you have against UB's accepted and waitlisted people? I noticed that you were bitter in the SUNY Buffalo's Accepted thread as well. With May 15th approaching, I think it's understandable that everyone on the waitlist is stressed out. If it bothers you so much, dont read it! simple as that. 😀

GREAT NEWS!!! The waitlist is moving...I just spoke to Mr.Rosso...apparently they're sending out acceptances to the people who are in the middle portion of the top third (2/9)....yayyyyy (for those people) and yayyyy (for us cause we're next)!!!

im not bitter at all, it just seems that ppl are spending too much time and being too neurotic over something that, for the most part, is out of their hands. i mean calculating how many spots that open up, and comparing that to where you are on the waitlist? if it happens it happens, great, if not then move on.

I see you've only been hanging around here for about two months. The pre-allo forum is the epitome of neuroticism in case you haven't already figured that out. Hence, the ever-present "What are my chances" and "Help me!" threads.

You should hang out in the Lounge more. Believe me, taking in too much of the pre-allo thread early on will make your head explode.

My understanding is that they're still moving through the middle of the top 1/3 right now, which would make more sense. If last year is any indication, then they won't get to the middle third until at least June.
