Hey all, I am a bit of a lurker but I thought I'd chime in as I see this thread is starting to level off.

I have an interview coming up for the BCMS program on Friday (3/22)! I'm very excited and nervous, but I hear that the interview day is low-key and friendly, so I have high hopes. My application was complete at the end of January and I was invited mid-February for the interview. I had to change the date and they kindly rescheduled me for March. Ms. Hershman has been extremely helpful, responding to questions by email at all hours of the day. The interview invite came by email, and was followed by a paper letter a couple weeks later with the same text and info.

I was told that this date in march is the final interview day for the BCMS program, so anyone else out there holding their breath might want to start considering alternatives.

I am very nervous about interviewing in general, but looking forward to getting it done. Can anyone who attended the February interview shed more light on what they were asked or how best to prepare? Based on last year's admissions numbers published on the website, 30 were interviewed for the BCMS and 23 matriculated, so I feel pretty good having made it this far. My stats were 3.7 UG GPA, and graduated in 2008. I majored in psychology and worked for 4 years after UG on a language-teaching program abroad.

Sorry if this was posted before, but does anyone know if the 800 character count limit for each question includes spaces?

I included spaces in my count, and most of my essays wound up around 750-800 characters. Many of them were exactly 800. The limit was extremely restrictive but a good exercise in brevity!

Hope this helps anybody out there, or those applying for next year.

Thank you! I am applying for the ACMS program so hopefully I'm not too late!

I just called and the person said application was still under review and that they were still interviewing into April. Not sure if they are not allowed to give out dates and that it is a standard response.

I did a February interview and it was really low-key and great. Got there at like 10:30 and hung out with like 7 other people who were in my interview group. Around 11 Ms Hershman came to talk to us and talked for like an hour but also went through the circle to see if we had any questions. It kind of put me on the spot and I wasn't prepared for that but it really didn't matter (if you're introverted though you might just want to keep it in mind. Nice to feel prepared). Then we went on a tour of the med school building with some current med students which was really awesome. They answered all kinds of questions. Also my student interviewer was one of the guides so that could help you have things to talk about if that happens to you. Then lunch and a financial aid presentation and then everyone splits off into their interviews which are all over the place. Make sure you read the paper that's in the folder they give you. It has the time, location, and interviewer on in. Both interviews are scheduled to be half an hour.

The interviews themselves were really casual and not bad at all (and I hate interviews). They really try to make you comfortable. At this point they know you're qualified and I think they just want to see if you're passionate. My faculty interviewer asked questions about my personal statements, what I do for fun/to relax, and asked what I would change about medicine since I don't think the ACA will change everything (he brought up politics, not me! That was nerve-wracking). The student interview is closed and they don't know anything about you besides what you tell them. Asked me about extracurriculars and some other things that I could barely hear over the hubbub of the lobby. That interview took maybe 15 minutes, the faculty interview took 45.

They said we'd hear back by March 4th but I didn't actually hear back til the 5th so if that happens to you, don't panic it's probably just Temple being Temple.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Biracial, are you going to be in next year's class?

I'm going to be there next year too. Have you received any information after paying the deposit?

I was marked complete two days after I submitted my application earlier this month. Still waiting to hear back.

Congrats! And nope. I've heard nothing.

Okay, thanks! I was starting to get nervous but I guess they're still interviewing and will send everything out once they're finished with that.

Anyone else heard back regarding BCMS interviews? When I called in last week they said they're still interviewing until April so I'm wondering if anybody knows when those interview dates are.

I believe they're on spring break now but if anybody hears anything, please let us know!

Good luck to those applying ACMS and those who interviewed/are interviewing BCMS!

yikes, I'm supposed to get back to tufts on april 19. don't even know if interviews will start for temple by that time yet. not looking good!

is it to late to apply? what are my chances if i apply now? for the essay parts can we use our AMCAS info?

Got an email yesterday (tuesday) that i'm not accepted. Very sad as Temple was my first choice, but I guess that's life in the application cycle. Good luck to everyone else! It was a fun day and a cool group.

has anyone else been invited for ongoing interviews into April?

Sorry about that man. Good luck with the rest of the cycle!

For those of you who have applied to the ACMS, has anyone heard back for an interview?

Hey for those of you have got into the post-bacc program could give me some insight on status? Particularly for ACMS.

Thanks

I was just curious to see if anyone else has been notified for an interview for the Temple post-bacc BCMS program starting 2014? I know the next round should be coming up here in Feb. Or does anyone know how much time they give you in between telling you about the interview and the actual interview date? Will it be a last min. airline ticket?

is the website down for anyone else? I haven't even submitted yet. Is it too late?

Anyone who applied to BCMS still waiting to hear back?

I know, that's why I hadn't even bothered completing the applicaiton yet!

I applied and they extended the deadline for both, I believe. I'm waiting on a response or invitation. :/

Question: Did you guys just copy and paste your PS for #3? I was thinking of answering in about 2 paragraphs each since the 'suggested' limit is 800 but now I'm wondering if that's enough space (or maybe I'm just being pre-med neurotic 🙄)

I don't think the word limit is especially strict. I submitted answers that exceed 800 characters and when I look back over my application, all of the text was saved.

The server keeps going down. Kind of frustrating.. 🙁

Really hope I can get into ACMS. Does anyone know if the letters of rec can be sent in through interfolio? I had my writers write those for the purpose of medical school application and not for postbac, is that going to be a problem?

Submitted the application to BCMS end of Jan, but the application was not completed (materials were not "received") until I called and asked about the status. Still waiting for the reply from the program.
I am a working "professional" 🙂 with a background in chemistry and currently work in Biopharmaceutical field but I lack Bio prereqs, thus BCMS is the best choice for me. My backup plan is taking Bio reqs from Temple directly. Once I hear from them anything I will post here. Good Luck to all of you!

server is still down for me 🙁
