Has anyone here interviewed at Tennessee yet? Was it stressful, laid back, etc? Was there anything for you to do in between the tour and your actual interview? What type of questions were asked? Any information would be super helpful! Good luck to everyone, hopefully we will be classmates!

I interviewed at Tennessee on Tuesday. It was a lot of fun! The Assoc. Dean, Dr. Brace started at 9 with a run down of their selection process and info about the school. Then we went on a tour with current 1st and 2nd year students. After that they had food and drinks set up in a lounge room and you can just hang out there until your turn to interview. I went out to lunch because my interview was at 1:30, but if yours is earlier then there's food in the room to get you by. He said some people might have the chance to move their time up if your team of interviewers had a person who did not come to interview.

As far as the actual interview, it was fine. There were three interviewers, all have reviewed your file but none of your academic scores were in there. They had no GPAs, grades, GRE scores, nada. My people were all really nice. When you're hanging out in the lounge the students will tell you what they know about your team of interviewers. The interview itself was standard. Questions about why do you want to be a vet, etc. They asked a lot of personal stuff about my application (being an EMT, playing piano, etc.). It was nice that they threw the personal stuff in there. They pulled a question from my personal statement and everything. I think the interview is really different depending on your application. They had some standard questions about the role of vets in society, but the majority of it was specific to me. The interview is scheduled for 30 minutes and they leave time at the end for you to ask questions, etc.

Overall I thought the experience was good. I really enjoyed the school. The students and the faculty get along really really well and everyone there was really friendly. You could tell they were all like a big family. I definitely recommend going at 9 for the tour even if your interview is late. That made the day for me, just meeting people and seeing the school. The students hang out in the lounge and you can talk to them and you can always leave for a bit and come back if your interview is way late. Good luck!

Wow, thanks so much for the info! It helps to have a good idea of what to expect... I'm gonna give it my best tomorrow, then hopefully we'll be seeing each other in August!
