I changed my date to the 19th since I didn't want to move back into CS, drive back to dallas on fri, then drive back again on sun and start class on mon. Too much! We'll meet somewhere though!

I have a worry though. I cannot confirm my interview date. I create my login with UTSW and it just doesn't work. I've emailed the admissions dept, so hopefully it will be resolved soon.
 
awesome job on the UTSW invites, all. I think they interviewed about 700 students last year, with around 60 students per interview session.

One thing - soon y'all should be getting mail invitations which should have UTSW login information for you. Keep this info for later in case you end up doing the match next February and want to find out early if you got in.

omg, guys, I feel so behind. I haven't even submitted yet cuz I want to get my PS just right. Does anyone want to help me with this thing?

haha we're in the same boat. i haven't submitted because i'm waiting for my summer grades to come in to boost my gpa a little. i wouldn't mind looking over your PS and helping you out.

oh and concerning the asian girls, i wish i had a bunch of them in my basement. hahaha.
 
Got an invite from UTSW as well for the 19th. 😀 Wow, just about a week since my TMDSAS application was verified and sent to the schools.

It seems UTSW will interview without letters and secondary because neither of mine is in. 🙂

When were you guys complete (sans LOR since I think most schools will interview w/o ) ? I'm just wondering if they're working down the line or if there is method to their madness.

I'm also wondering why the hell Pemb doesn't have an interview yet. 😡
 
Congrats on the interviews guys. I will be a first year at UTSW this August. The numbers in the MSAR are right (trust these and USNEWS). They will give you more detailed numbers in your packet about our class' numbers. Also don't forgot to have your secondary turned in before you interview b/c some people get interviews without having these in but, your interviewer may want to ask questions about your responses. Anyway, good-luck with the process and maybe I'll see some of you guys at the lunch.

My TMDSAS was verified and sent to the schools on 7/12. I don't have my LORs or secondary in yet.

Mine was also verified on 7/12.

I wouldn't worry, with your MCAT score, I'm sure you'll hear from them soon!

I'm beginning to think that it's true that nontrads get no love, and that my 1 interview is more of a fluke.

.....but maybe I'm just being paranoid.

just wait, this was only the first round of invites. they come around every 2 weeks or so.
 
No invites yet...but then again, I was just processed yesterday. Wow, I am a pre-med. 🙂

Good catch - I was going to correct that too but you beat me 😀

My UT-H interview is on the 2nd.
 
ok, ok. so while i was at parkland, a MS4 student (and a doctor who was standing there with her) told me that they only interview twice as many people as they accept...which would mean about 400. But, this doesn't mesh with the 2006 MSAR I have. I don't know if they were just trying to make the process sound more selective or if they started tightening things up last year. Anyone know?

Beadle, do you volunteer at Parkland? I wonder if we've seen each other there...
 
Parkland is an amazing hospital. I would love to be able to learn there.

Well Neurotic me just called TAMU: No interview invites w/o at least one LOR in. Whoo hoo!! It's not because they hate me!! Rock on!!
 
For those of us still waiting on TAMU invites, I found this on their web site:

Applicants are sorted on the basis of an Academic Score which weights the MCAT (average score of three numerically scored subtests) and overall GPA of each applicant, respectively, at 50%. The Assistant Dean for Admissions determines who will be interviewed automatically and who will be screened. The highest possible Academic Score is 1000 (with a 4.00 overall GPA and an average 15 on the MCAT). The minimum Academic Score for an applicant to qualify for an automatic or high priority interview is 800 (in the range of a 3.70 overall GPA and an average 10 on the MCAT). Applications of the remaining applicants whose academic scores range from 799 down are assigned to members of the Admissions Committee for screening. Applicants are screened using a 100-point system broken down into four major categories of academic and personal factors:

• (30) academic performance/intellectual capacity,
• (40) humanism - dedication to service and capacity for effective interactions,
• (15) special life experiences, and
• (15) other compelling factors.

I don't quite make it with a crappy undergrad GPA, eventhough I have a 3.9+ Master's and a 34. I wonder how long it will take?
 
hi. i'm an oos. i got interview invites from tech and a&M today. i was wondering if anyone knew whether oos were prescreened (meaning they only interview 10% oos) or if we were tossed in the pool and weeded out later?

For those of you with a UTMB interview, have you gotten the interview info. that they are sendingby snail mail? I haven't gotten anything and I am starting to get a little worried... I think I may be just paranoid like the rest of us! Thanks!

I got mine about 1 week after interview notification. I'm in NC - so I'm guessing that makes the postal service a little slower.

Good info! Thanks. I kinda knew A&M wasn't going to have me high on their invite list (3.4 UG GPA hurts) and this confirms. That being said, I don't think I'm a great fit as a non-trad anyway. Since there are at least a couple of other non-trads on this thread and for what it is worth - these are the stats from US News for Texas schools that provided the info:

% of matriculants not coming directly from college (which I'm reading as "non-trad"):
TAMU: 4%
TCOM: 6% (that kinda shocked me)
Tech: 48%
UT-SW:15%
Baylor: 10%
UT-SA: no stats
UT-H: not reported
UT-Gal: not reported

Dang that's low for TAMU!

So how do you calculate out your score for A&M? It doesn't seem like it would be as easy as your avg MCAT/15*500 + Your GPA/4.0*500

Yeah - don't know that I take those numbers as gospel, but it was a "factor" in some of my school selections. Of course, alot of schools didn't report theirs and UTHSCSA doesn't even have a page in the book. I guess the caveat is "don't believe everything you read!" But I thought it might be useful info anyway. 🙂

Well, it does give me a "staggering" 😳 791 which would explain why I'm not on the automatic list. It works for me. Actually kinda nice to know that there is some method to this madness!
 
I want some love from Texas schools!!! I got emails from A&M and UTSW thanking me for submitting my secondary apps. Anna, I thought I read somewhere you were saying that our HPAC letters aren't going to be in til Aug this year? So does that mean that we get no love from schools who require letters of rec to be in before sending invites?

I just want to get in somewhere (although preferably Baylor, UTSW, or A&M...)! I'm so jealous of all of you who already have invites! Oh well, I am currently in Canada where it's in the middle 70s for highs instead of 106 when I left Texas.

Feeling increasingly paranoid. :scared: :scared:
