Has anyone had trouble confirming their interview date at Texas Tech? I got the email this afternoon, but when I login, there is no link to the interviews. All I can do is review my application which has been complete for days.

I'd give it another day. Tech seems to be behind on everything, they'll probably put you in the system tommorow.

Has anyone that is interviewing at A&M next week received anything via snail mail? The email said that additional info would be mailed after I RSVP'd, but I haven't received anything since RSVPing. Just curious if that was "normal."

I don't know about invites where they consider your app in whole, but numbers interview invites seem to come within a day or two of the app being sent out.

Just wanted to let ya'all know that A&M sent out invites this afternoon. I was at work and saw the mail come in through my cell phone while I was in a meeting - made me jump!

Hopefully A&M will let me re-schedule.

Aww, I saw all the UT-H interviewees today sitting on the stairs at Hermann Hospital for the student panel (no, I wasn't stalking.. but I was posing as a med student with my scrubs and white coat--it's my job). I wished I was one of them b/c I have not yet heard about an interview from them (but have from SW and UTMB and was verified ~2 wks ago). On a more serious note, how was the interview day structured? And (random question) did any cardiologists interview you (I probably know them! 🙂)

My application was processed on 7/12, but my LOR's did not arrive at TMDSAS until 7/26. I'm assuming once they get them that they automatically send them out to the Texas schools. Is this correct?

They will send them, but keep checking with the schools (without being a PIA of course!) because they sent the first one that arrived as soon as I verified, but the later ones took forever. I used the TCOM and Tech sites (because they provide updated status) so I could see when things were getting to all the schools without calling all of them.

A&M rescheduled without a problem. Keep in mind they only interview on Thursdays.

i absolutely love gray pantsuits. i wore one to a couple of my interviews and i think they help you stand out, while not being over the top. it is definately not too risky! 😀

I'm probably not the right person to ask for "risky". I'm 32, with 3 children and will be less than 1 week postpartum for my first interview. I don't seem to like to do anything the NORMAL way. 🙂

I'm going with pants because I am uncomfortable in skirts and will feel weird if I wear one, making me nervous and fidgety during the interview. But that is a personal choice. And I'm going with something other than black because I look washed out (and OLD!) with dark colors next to my face. So I have already made my call - I'm just looking for validation!! 😀

i'm a girl (hence, my name). there were plenty of pant suits...plenty. just make sure its nicely fitted and not too manly. i wore a skirt suit once, and got eaten by mosquitos in San Antonio. Never again. I wouldn't believe the hype about interviewers looking down on girls wearing pants. Every place I got in, I was wearing a pant suit.

Hope everyone that went to UTMB today did well on their interviews. The first guy I had was really nice and friendly. The second guy did not smile ONCE and was quite intimidating. Regardless, I think I performed adequately. If only "adequately" ever got people into medical schools...

A little tidbit of information to pass along: I asked how many class spots were expected to be filled from rolling admissions vs. the match, and was told that if they had their way, UTMB would fill all the spots through rolling admissions. This is definitely good news.

Yes that definately is good news!!! Especially for those of us interviewing early since they can start accepting November 15!

I asked the same thing of my interviewer at UT Houston and the answer was "not very many." Apparently its the cream of the crop they are trying to grab with rolling admissions.

Interesting - two trains of thought with the schools.... we'll see what really happens I suppose. An early acceptance would certainly take a load off! But I am not exactly the "cream".

Does anyone know if MD-PhD admissions for UTMB and UTSW have started interviewing yet?

Tech finally got my LORs on 8/2 and they were in to TMDSAS on 7/17, I believe. It's frustrating it takes so long for them to get this stuff. Hopefully now that I have LORs in I will begin to get interview invites. So jealous of all of you who are getting them out of the way before school starts, this semester is not a good semester for me to be missing classes. Anyway, good luck to all!

8/2 is not late by any means. You may have to miss some class, but you'll most likely get interviews! Good luck!

Do you guy's think TCOM reads apps before offering interviews? I'm curious if both the interviews I've gotton since July 27th (UTSW and TCOM) were based entirely on numbers or if I can have a shred of validation for the rest of my app.

My hunch is that since my status on the website went from "incomplete" to "Selected for interview" within hours of going complete, that they don't read the apps. But that is just a guess.....

It took a few days for my status to change but I guess that was a fluke only to get my hopes up.

Little bit more info on UTMB --
Dr. Rabek said that they do expect to fill most of their incoming class with prematch offers and might overshoot it some. Because we are the guinea pigs, he was unsure of how many offers the school would be giving out but he did say it was to our benefit that so many spots would be handed out before the match.


About the interviews -- both went great. My itinery however had one physician located in Sealy Annex and they were all the way in the Primary Care Pavilion. She asked the normal questions about why UTMB, asked about my research, books I had read, hobbies outside of medicine, etc.

My other interview was in the ER (they still call it the Emergency Room) and instead of him asking me any questions, he told me to interview him. It was really cool and got lots of answers about PBL, grading, faculty, etc.

I think less people will participate in the match this year because a lot of people will get accepted to their top choice.
