I agree with E-rage. I think questions like this are used to gauge your reactions, not necessarily your intelligence.

Wow I had that same guy.... I wish we would have talked about black mold more. We talked about the French revolution and France's role in WWII (he had just read a book about it).

LOVE IT!! Not black mold, but rather that someone else had a simliar experience. 🙂

For me it was the Tech interviewer in El Paso and he wasn't a PhD, so I know it wasn't the same guy - but something about Tech, eh? Anyway, he grilled me on the history of the nuclear bomb - something I guess I'm supposed to know since I used to work on nuclear reactors? Hysterical because I truly hate history and my stuff isn't supposed to blow up. :laugh: I just said, "you know, I really don't know anything about that."

Most likely I'll be posting acceptances in here first... Texas is such a different system... that just seems more appropriate.


BTW, fell in love with Baylor yesterday... come on! what does a girl need to do to get an acceptance!?
 
I guess we can look at acceptances that are posted here in one of two ways:

Motivation and encouragement, or
Sticking it in everone's faces.

I vote for posting them here. Because, after months of following everyone that has been posting to this thread, I'm rooting for all of us. Every time one of us is accepted I think should be celebrated as a group of applicants, not just acceptancers (I don't think that's a word).
 
Agreed, in fact let's all just get together in Austin afterwards and get totally sloshed.

It just seems like Texas is a medical school system of its own, so what better thing to do that post them here (or on a whole separate thread for Texas only)??

By the way, I didn't know schools finished interviewing so early. Galveston told me the 17th of November is their last day. I thought they would go into January/February because the match isn't until February 15th, but I guess not. 😱 (I decided to go to Galveston...I couldn't bear the thought of rejecting an interview and risking it. Besides, you never know when you may fall in love with a school).
 
My friend who was recently at Galveston was informed that interviews would be extended past Nov. She was originally told that they the 17th was the last day when she tried to reschedule, but at her actual interview day they said the interview season was going to go on for a bit longer.

Well, they also told it to me when I tried to reschedule. 😕

That's kind of mean considering I got only a week's notice. The world doesn't exactly stop working just because I have an interview. Believe it or not applicants have lives and responsibilities.
 
So since the 15th is the day...do you think schools will send the letters out a day or two early to try and get them there on the 15th...or will they send them the 15th and we all have to wait a few days to get them...I am hoping that they send them early so we get them on the 15th....anyone think they might use email or phone...if so which schools?
 
San Antonio's website says their last day to interview is 12/11. Does anyone know if they are going to stick to this date or extend beyond?
 
Can I call them and ask for such information? Thanks!
 
I bet they email day of and snail mail shortly after.
Just a guess, but I think its going to be a scramble between all of the schools to contact the students as quickly as possible.
But again, that's just my [hopeful] guess...
 
sonofa.....i'm guessing i'm not going to get an interview from UTMB...dangit. I was thinking since their last day is 11/17..realistically the latest that you could be contacted is 11/10...seeing as to how that was yesterday and nothing is in my mailbox...sigh

yes i agree in this case, i still feel these interviews are the exception though and not the norm

You still have a chance! When I was at my UTMB interview, they said the school will be interviewing into december🙂

I think there's an increasing chance of my suffering a heart attack with each day that passes without an acceptance after Nov. 15th.

Oh my God...pins and needles people, pins and needles...

As you can tell, I'm obviously very well-adjusted.

If it makes you feel better, we are all just as insane.

If we were well adjusted, we would not be applying to medical school. We would have majored in something sensible like Accounting or education, gotten engaged our junior year of college, married by our senior year, and led lives just like normal people do.

I've decided that those people are crazy. I mean honestly, how can you just settle down like that at the age of 24-25. You have your whole life ahead of you. My co-worker just bought a house in the country, it's supposedly near Sealy, TX but really, it isn't near anything. She and her husband are talking about hopefully never having to move again and growing old in this house. She's two years older than me.

WTH is going on here?

Has she already resigned herself to a life of mediocrity? She's working the same job as I, making the same measily salary, and yet she's completely content while I have this deluded notion that I need to do something to change the world. I have a lot of trouble coming to the conclusion that I am the abnormal one.

Okay, sorry for that rant. Completely of-topic...

Neuroses -- Yes, I have read all the old threads about the dates changing on TMDSAS so I know that I will never get an answer about the why of any of it... But did anyone's dates change for Last Master File Update this past week?

I can't help it.. I have to think about it... only 3 days....

I have friends like that. Not to contaminate this thread further, but I am in agreement with you, even though my friends are probably considerably older than yours, and are probably justified in staying put with their six-figure income and their children. 😉

Neither camp is wrong, in my opinion; here, normal applies to what average people do, which rarely impacts my decisions in life, although I do take an anthropological interest in it. Normal isn't better, per se. It's fair to say that people have different ideas of happiness, but all too prevalent is the idea that one must compromise one aspect of it, in order to attain another. As for me, a large part of what makes me happy is continually expanding in my capacity to facilitate wellness in myself and others; right now, that means applying to, getting accepted into, and attending medical school, so that I can become a medical doctor, even at age 33. What I am learning, however, is that it isn't as simple as "either/or"; it is possible to be expanding in my life purpose as I also take care of my domestic needs. I don't need to give up my life in order to pursue medicine, and I don't need to give up medicine to pursue my life. There need not be a compromise, I think. I mean, what does that look like for me, though? 😳
 
whoa.. mine says 11/10/06.... hopefully schools may have added our acceptances into teh system or something? i have no clue.. just optimistic

Hey, as most of you know, I'm an oos student and this is what my application says.

Last Master File Update: 102606

I Interviewed on Oct. 20th, does that mean they made a decision but I won't hear for a bit??
 
My last master update is 102306.
But what I really would like is to be validated- that sounds like such a good thing... 👍

As of right now though, i'm still 000000.

This wait is terrible, but its good to know that there are other people hashing it out too. At least I can go to work Monday to make the time pass by faster [ha, whoever thought I'd be looking forward to a Monday 🙂]. The real question is, how do we make the next three days go by as quickly as possible... and the days thereafter until [hopefully] a letter/email/phone call comes. I'm already working out an hour a day to help the stress, which sounds neurotic and probably is. But my gym is closed on Sundays... so unfortunate.

I'm guessing that we will only hear about acceptances for the rolling admissions. They should wait to start sending out waitlists and rejections until the match, right?

And yes, I think they're only sending out pre-match acceptances starting Nov.15

Isn't changing school preference only valid when the match goes into effect later on? hehe i'm confused.

My LMFU changed to 10-02-06 right before I got my TCOM acceptance but just changed again to 11-09-06 (maybe UTMB or Tech are going to come through for me???). BTW my validation date is still 000000.
