Yeah I was going to respond to that in kind as well, but had to catch the shuttle to work. Final invites for schools have recently or are very soon going to go out. If your app got sent to all schools in mid November, it is likely that they wouldn't even get to it before decisions were made for the last round of interviews.

Sorry. Were you an August MCATer? Cuz then you don't have to feel so bad, that blows for TX applicants.

at one of my interviews there was a re-app that interviewed at 5 schools last year... however, statistically speaking if we were all the same, then with 3 interviews there would almost be a 100% chance of getting into at least 1. but the med school acceptance process isn't all chance even though sometimes it seems that way.

5 TX interviews? Did the re-app seem "normal" to you or was he/she a bit socially awkward, etc? 😕
 
I'm a little confused. A friend of mine emailed UTMB about their prematch acceptances and this was the reply, which contradicts what I was told by a different staffer:

Thank you for your interest in UTMB! Unfortunately, all acceptances to UTMB were sent out on the 15th of November. You will still have an opportunity to attend UTMB during the match process if we were unable to fill our incoming class of 230.

Good luck and Happy Holidays!

How do you know SW is sending out three batches?

Seriously!?!! Why can't they get their information straight...this scares me... 🙁

Edit: I'm sending an email to see what answers they'll give me...I'll post when I hear something.

well. least it makes my decision a little easier. don't want to try and get into a school that don't want me when another school want me and thoroughly returns the virtual fellatio that I had to dish out for interview

What worries me is that UTMB was BY FAR my best interview...sigh. 🙁

Just what I've pieced together from other posts on here. Not completely reliable for sure.

I especially like the "Happy Holidays!" part of the response.

Does anyone know UT-Houston's plans for the rest of rolling admissions??
 
I called the schools.

TCOM: They might send out more, but don't know for sure. Implied that they're going to just wait till the match.
A&M: Will send out more letters on the 13th and the 20th.
UTSA: There will be one more round, sometime after the 18th, which is their last interview date.
Tech: Yes, they will send out more, probably within a week.
Houston: They plan on sending more out, but don't have a date.
UTSW: Not sure yet if they will or not. Sent the letters out today for yesterdays batch. Not convinced I talked to someone "in the know".
UTMB: "Hmmm...Probably not"

thanks mksz! i hope we don't have to wait till feb.

one thing i've noticed though, the waiting has certainly made me less picky about where i'd consider going. if there's any positive aspect to the wait, it's that my ego's been reduced to more appropriate levels haha.

WERD! This prematch rolling admissions is hell on anyone who has internet access and did not receive a first or second round invite. It would at least be nice if they made the match decision before I shell out money for a prep company....only to find out I matched and don't need it.😡
 
Recalled UTMB: "Hmmm... probably not" was the answer.

Someone reminded of something. Did anyone else get that letter from TCOM Admissions? The one with a photo of the staff smiling, with "Season's Greetings". I held it up to the sunlight...no watermark. I also passed it through the scanning electron microscope at a nearby university. The phrase "Class of 2011" appears to have been left off.

My class last year started late January and if you dropped after session 4 and before session 8 (feb 15? roughly) then you got a 75% refund. At least you'd only drop a couple of hundred through that route. I hope it doesn't come to that though.

btw, Tombstone is an awesome movie

Hooray for Match! It's fitting for me that this process is gonna drag out til the bitter end.
 
well for thos waiting for UTSA - I just got in!!! So i guess they just sent out the second batch

I interviewed there on 11/20......LMFU 12/1.......I'm taking Rudolph hostage until I get an acceptance. It takes about 3-4 days for mail from that part of the world to get here. An acceptance would be a nice Christmas gift but I ain't holdin' my breath, on second thought.......:barf:

i just got back from a formal social event held here in dallas where Dr. Raybeck pretty much said that all spots were given out on nov 15th... basically they will use the match to fill whatever spots they don't have from the 228 seats that they want next year.

Well, I figure a good majority of those that got an offer also got several others...so hopefully a good number of spots will open up for the rest of us! 🙄 Trying to remain positive here...

my lmfu is now 12/8/06 so maybe thats from UTSA?
I haven't been keeping up with it so I have no idea when it changed
 
Didnt someone get accepted without a recent LMFU change?

Yeah, but I think it was for the first round. I assume that the decisions for the second round/s will be accompanied by more recent LMFU's. Not sure about this but it seems to make decent sense.

After getting different information repeatedly from UTSW, I called Wes Norred about my application status and the pre-match admissions. He said that they aren't planning on giving out any more acceptances until after the match. UTSW won't be involved in the match as of now because they don't wan't people to lose their spots elsewhere through the match process. However, it is vital to still rank UTSW #1 on your list if you still want to be considered for admission after the match. Anyway, so he doesn't expect anymore acceptances to be given out until February. Who knows, this may very well change. Also, he said that they've given out 250 spots so far, and on average, they give out 400 spots. So around 150 spots are left. I hope this helps. Good luck to everyone, and hopefully everyone will get in where they want.

I hear that too---not that I ever had an ego. But I convinced myself for a while I'd get in. Now I feel awful about everything--and like everything in my life is riding on it!! good luck everybody!!!

Uhhh can someone explain this? I thought the whole point of Match was to fill all schools in a nice and tidy way with applicants going to schools that they prefer in the process. Why would they avoid match? It doenst seem relevant if people lose their spots elsewhere if they ranked UTSW ahead neway.
 
Here's what I heard from UTMB:

"We will not be making anymore offers until we have a few more
withdrawals. We can only seat 230 students and our number of
acceptances currently exceeds that. If we get below that number before
December 31st, we will then make more offers. "

Obviously more spots will open up because a lot of people "accepted" several schools. Although, I have to say that hearing this makes me pretty upset...sigh.

EDIT: Oh, and WTF is UTSW's response about? How can you NOT be involved in the match!?! Ugh...
