I’m concerned! I thought my chances of getting waitlisted were good, since I have not heard from them. Thinking if I was denied, they would notify ASAP.

I haven't heard back either and I interviewed at the end of October! I am def getting more worried though

I wouldn’t worry too much if you’re at least trying to be waitlisted. I waited nearly 2 months, I feel like you would have heard back if you were denied already.

Did anyone apply to ACU?
I did! I actually toured the campus (in person) with an OT student and their OT program looks really great! They have a really cool maker-space where OT students make a prosthetic hand. The faculty also seemed really supportive! The OT building was fairly small and pretty average looking but the rest of the campus was really nice so that makes up for it. It's also nice that there is basically one room where all your classes are. Their level I fieldworks are in mental health and you can basically pick wherever you want to go for your level IIs (IK some schools pick for you). For their OTD program, the extra classes are for a specialty in one certain area but I don't remember what it was. No church/religion classes are required, that was a concern of mine. Overall it seemed like a really good school I wanted to go to!

does anyone know the chances of getting into utmb is it hard? im nervous to hear back

HI did too! They told me that they don't look at applications until the deadline and then we should hear back around March or early spring
have you heard anything about their program? Like is it super competitive to get in?

Honestly I haven’t heard too much about their program (I’m a Florida resident). I applied after seeing the nothing but good things a friend had to say about her SLP program and professors. I am interested in leaving Florida for school, but ACU would be my last hope for that. I already have a seat in a program here. But I would still love to learn more about ACU since the program I have a seat in and ACU’s tuition are comparable

i did!
Did anyone apply to university Mary Hardin-Baylor?
I did!! I toured the campus and did an interview. Beautiful new building in a small town. The professors are great. They only offer MOT though and I actually just emailed them yesterday withdrawing my spot since I got accepted into another program. They may call you because they are trying to fill all the spots. Good luck!

Idk if you were referring that question to me, but one of the OT's I shadowed graduated from there 2 years ago and she said positive things about the program. She doesn't think it should be hard to get in because she failed A&P twice and still got accepted but that was before they were accredited. The program also cares about your success and if you're not doing well they will hire a tutor and professors will have study sessions at their homes.

When are we supposed to hear back from TWU? I've seen a couple different timelines but wasn't sure which one was right!

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how many applicants on average TWU gets each cycle?

Hi I got an interview for UTMB. Does anyone know anything about what the HSRT exam that we take prior to the interview is like?

I emailed TWU Admissions back in November and they said we'd be hearing back in December. The other dates were from students who were 'guestimating' based on their experiences so take that as you will.

I finally got an invitation to interview! I received the email two days ago.
I really want to know how TTU is determining when people interview. Like is it by GPA, last name, when you submitted your application? Who knows.
Also, I wonder when they finish sending interview invitations.

Hi guys! I'm currently a first year student at UTMB! I used this forum for my application cycle last year, and I'm so glad y'all are finding other future OTs here too! I checked back to last year's application cycle's forum because I honestly needed some motivation and decided to see if someone had made one for this year. We have finals next week, and I am needing a mental break!! lol I've been in your shoes and understand how anxiety-provoking it is waiting to hear back from schools about interviews, acceptances, etc. Y'all are in a unique position due to this insane and unbelievable year, but just know that you WILL become an OT and despite whatever news you get back from schools NEVER doubt that OT is the career for you! I was waitlisted for both TWU Dallas and UTMB and considered changing my career path. I ended up getting off the waitlist on the same day! Don't lose hope, you will get to where you're meant to be!

Last year was the first time they gave that exam, so it was a test run for us. There's no real way to study for it since it's similar to a personality test as the results we got rated how well we could analyze, infer, deduct, etc. info from these hypothetical scenarios. I don't think you'll need to stress too much about it

Wow that's awesome you got off the waitlist on the same day! how long were you waitlisted for?

We had interviews in early/mid January I think, and we heard back the week after the final interviews were done towards the end of January (ours were spit between two weeks). I got off the waitlist about two weeks after they sent the first round of acceptances, and that was the day after the deadline for the first round people to accept/decline.

Right? It’s been a very odd process I feel like. I applied the day OTCAS opened (July) and didn’t receive an email from them until this week. I think they are only interviewing a few people per interview because in their email, they stated that they are limited to the number of spots during each interview. Last year, I heard people were getting interviews up until February. I wouldn’t lose hope. I think it’s a good thing you haven’t heard anything back from them yet and that it just takes time.

Wow I'm so glad I found this page! I interviewed for TWU Dallas on Nov. 21 and I had no idea when we are supposed to hear back and it was making me nervous!!

how was the interview and the group activity?
It was not as nerve racking as I thought it would be! You interview with a few faculty members and a student from the program, all very standard questions. The activity is very laid back with a small group of students, also a very standard activity. Nothing asked of me was really a curveball if I’m being honest. Just be prepared, calm, and focused. I’m sure you’ll do great if you also have an interview coming up 🙂

I do, it's next Friday! What do you mean “nothing asked of me”? And, when you say standard questions, do you mean straightforward, like, “tell me about yourself” lol

Hey you guys! For utmb it says we should have received an email from OTCAS regarding instructions on how to access your HSRT. Have you guys received that email?

Good luck!!! Sorry, I just meant that the questions they asked and the activity we did really weren’t too difficult. Everything was very laid back and easier/better than I thought a typical interview would be like. The questions weren’t as straight forward as you’re thinking there. They’re a bit more difficult than that and require more thinking about yourself and your knowledge.

Hey guys! I’m looking for some opinions. I’m trying to decide between TWU, UTMB, Tech, and UT Health Science Center. Which school would you go with, and why? I have been invited for an interview with these schools but I have yet to be accepted just FYI. This is just to help me decide down the road in case. Thank you 🙂
