I am new to SDN and thought I would add my name to the list. I was previously on UTSW's wait list and later removed by UTSW. I'm holding on to the other 3.

what about the other schools, why aren't you waitlisted there.

and that's just not cool what UTSW did, but they hold all the cards.

Brain said:
They certainly haven't sent out waitlist or rejections yet.

I got my Baylor rejection via snail mail a week ago. They were nice enough to photocopy the signature to make it look real personal and compassionate

Post-interview rejection or no interview rejection?

I'm sorry you got rejected, but that would be cool if they're doing some post-interview rejections 'cuz I haven't gotten one of those yet. (Knock on wood)

Post-interview is worse. I'd have rather not spent the money on a plane ticket 🙁

Agreed. It's really annoying when you spend your time and money on interviewing, only to be rejected or waitlisted. At least with the pre-interview stuff they don't get your hopes up.

You're one of my favorite peeps on sdn, true blue 😍

You're right, I did get to travel to many of the world's greatest cities. You know, like Dallas, Cleveland, St. Louis... 😉 🙄

  'ugh' is okay, i'm just biding my time and waiting for classes to be over! I never study anymore. Can you say senioritis? 😛 Though I suspect many SDN'ers are the same way.

Did you ever make the mistake of taking Human Genetics at UH? What a waste of time! 👎

I've heard nightmare stories about Snider! Nice guy but a total a$$ of a prof!! I'm happy you are taking his class in a semester as a non-neurotic pre-med. 🙂 I always thought he was on the verge of a heart attack everytime I saw him...His face was always so red! 😱

On another note, I can't stop sneezing and I wish my throat and parts of my ears that I can't scratch would stop itching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙁

Hey TB,

why haven't you responded to my PM.

Hey get unconscious, instead of taking human genetic i am taking immunology, and it's not bad, why didn't you take that.

Wow, TB same class taught by same professor for long time that's weird.

one of my prof says he's been teaching a same class since mid 70's.

Do you go to UH, thehopeful? I already took Immunology here w/ Dr. Nordyke and it kinda sucked, it was my only B+ last semester! 🙁

yeah i'm a coogie, i'm doing okay in the class thus far.

Does anyone know when Texas schools historically pull people from waitlists? It seems like by the end of March things should have already started happening. I wonder if things are different this year. Please post if you have any insight or experience with waitlisting!

trauma_junky can you post anything.

As I wrote before I talked to someone who got off UTSA's waitlist last year and he (lane) was pulled off 5/11, I know it's late...
but that's all i know.

That dude's exams are weird. You have to be careful of the wording.

EVO's obsessed with COCs.

Anyone here interviewed at UTMB with the chair of admissions committe. If so how did it go and what did he tell you.

Thanks a bunch

Apparently.....

COCS stands for "Combined Oral Contraceptives," and is apparently indicated for healthy young women. Or so says "Managing contraception, (2001)."

Who was the chair of the admissions committee? I think I interviewed with someone...the dean of admissions or associate dean or something? His office overlooked the beautiful construction taking place on campus for the new biomedical facility. 😕

no this guy had no windows.

3rd page, yikes.

so no one is calling the schools.

why don't YOU call them, instead of waiting for other people to?

UT-San Antonio's registrar said they have already pulled people from their waiting list. I think that was brought up by someone else earlier.

The registrar's office is wrong..Two of us have spoken to someone in the dean's office (Belinda) and noone has been taken from the list

Anyone from TCOM get off the wait list yet? With the exception of the TT dude
When I talked to Catherine yesterdsay, she said that nobody's been called THAT SHE KNOWS OF, and that they were still finalizing the "first list" She said there would be a second list about June or July. I guess I was under the impression that it was sort of a rolling process, where people get called everyday or such. She said with few exceptions, it's not, until you get really close to classes starting. my mom had talked to 3rd year who was shadowing her doc during an appointment, who said that he was waitlisted at first, but was on the "second list" in June.

I think that anybody who survives the hell and the drama of being waitlisted should automatically get in next year. This is the sux.

I turned in my post-bacc app, BTW.

so what's the difference between the first and second lists?

Does anyone's skin crawl at the word "list" now?

🙂

Thanks for the info, it is much appreciated. I guess since TCOM isn't especially forthcoming with their waitlist information, they probably wouldn't tell us which list we were on. BTW, are there ppl on the waitlist that don't make either list? hmmm...Also, which postbacs are you applying to? I'm thinking the deadlines are approaching........ 😳

Sigh.... APRIL WILL BE A VERY LONG MONTH!!!!

The first list was the match list, to my understanding. The second list will be posted this summer, I was told.

When I said that they wre finalizing the "first list" those are the ones that matched on match day. Some will accept, decline, defer, etc. They have to hear from these people before they can determine how many openings they can fill, therefore posting the "second list."

This is my understanding of the process after our talk on Monday.

I applied to the 1 year, non-thesis, premed certification. It's a program that "grooms" you for med school, and I believe TCOM reserves some of its med school seats for people applying OUT of the post-bacc program. This is the only post-bacc I applied to. That's my plan B. Plan C is stand up comedy.

Yay! Mine's meteorology!!! ( Heh! Dunno if I spelled that right) 🙂

Even though I hate writing papers, I actually enjoyed the class. My attendance wasn't that great, but I definitely looked forward to the moments when he stepped onto his soapbox. You'll learn a lot about his take on the role of physician's in healthcare. Sure you could miss every class and read the notes at home, but Snider's endearing. Give 'im a break. It's like watching a so-so movie...he gives you laughs...can bring you to tears (not that I cried or nothing). I mean sure you wish you'd paid to see something better, but you learned something in spite of its failings.

I really enjoyed Immunology, but I agree...the man writes horribly confusing exams.

There are a lot of coogs in here. 👍

Anyone know if you can go into something other than clinical research to finish out hte masters program? My genetics prof last night mentioned that the Biomed Grad School has one of (if not the only) best forensics grad programs in the nation.

GO COOGS! 👍

How is everyone today? I just got waitlisted at WashU, then got sick with some kind of God-awful flu (fever, chills, sore throat, headache, body aches) so my week's not going too great 🙁

2 letters, 2 waitlists, yay utsw and washu..

Although the washu thing didnt actually say 'waitlist' im assuming thats what it is. 50 more ppl admitted is a lot however... I wonder how big the list is heh..

Finally, at long last, Texas Tech mails me my rejection letter 🙄 I got the others weeks ago; wonder what took them so long.

Ok I know this thread is technically supposed to be about Texas waitlists, but I have to ask...did you get the glowing letter about being 'fully qualified'...'i believe you would thrive here'...and 'i hope you will decide to keep your options open'?

If I'm that great, then f**kin let me in! That letter was sappier than any outright acceptance I've gotten! 🙄
