Is anyone else in the process of finding their first "real" job as an OB/Gyn? It's our own interview season as well... and I'm already burned out.

I am secretly terrified that I will not be able to find a job. No, that's not quite true. I KNOW I can find a job... there are tons out there... I just want to find the right job for me.

And I have to admit that I'm also sick to death of residency. Managing the junior residents is similar to herding cats, and making the resident's clinic schedule is causing me to go prematurely grey. Botox here I come. It's become like a pregnancy... counting down... with the EDD June 15th.

Any other tired, ole Chief Residents out there?

Good luck to you in your search. I have a couple more years to go and just looking at the listings in the area that I want to practice makes me want to crawl under a comforter and cry. I wonder if faculty and attendings at your program may have connections at places you want to practice. I would love to hear an update. Someone should start a blog!

First herding cats what a clever analogy! Second are you looking on your own or do you have a agency help? Third, use your mentor. Fourth, where have past residents gone do they have openings in their practices....

You're almost there, so hang in there... Chiefs past landed their jobs after Xmas generally. (FYI) Only one of them used the head-hunters, all others managed to get their interviews/jobs via word of the mouth opening. Even if you're thinking of generalist positions, be sure to ask the sub-specialists (Gyn-Onc, Uro Gyn) about opening as often they have a large referral base of generalists and know of openings by word of mouth.
