The WVSOM site says that supplemental apps are sent to those people who get interviews, so the supplemental seems to be highly-screened. I found this under FAQ for Current Applicants.

Wait, I just read this. WVSOM wants two LORs from doctors, preferably DOs? Say what...? or do they mean one LOR from a physician and one from the premed committee for example? Can anyone clarify? Thanks.

Did the PCOM secondary happen to mention any length restrictions for the essays? From what I gather, secondary essays are generally supposed to be a long paragraph; straight to the point.

no specified length of the essay, but there is a small space for "what healthcare related experiences have you had" so I am assuming I should also attach another sheet of paper for that?????

Some places screen before sending out secondaries. That may account for the lag time between primary and secondary applications. I know for sure that Touro-MI does this.

I sent TUNCOM last week. I got a little postcard thing from them saying my application is still incomplete because they are missing some letters of rec. They should be receiving all the letters in about a week, then ill be complete

For those of us that are first or second batch of the primary apps, do you believe this general delay benefits us?

It seems to me that the bulk of those who will be applying later in the year may be logjammed due to the delay in processing our primaries, sending out secondaries, etc.

its always a benefit to be in the first or second batch for various reasons..so yes that is one benefit.

PCOM's secondary is out...it was mailed to me last week, comes with a cool little cd informational to play on ur computer rec'd that one on a Friday -- the UMDNJ secondary is available online for immediate submittal (no need to wait for an invite, just fill it out and pay!)

I dont think NYCOM's is out yet.

I'm guessing you meant Western. Look at the post above the one you just posted. I added to the list. "9. Western U/COMP: 7/21/06 interview invite by email after screening." So, I got it on the July 21st by email. 🙂 Best of luck.

Just out of curiousity, those of you with Western interviews already, when was your application transmitted? What are your numbers like? Did you spend a lot of time with DOs?

Western is probably my first choice DO school my app was mailed 7/15, but haven't heard anything yet.

I was also in the first batch, and it's one of my top choices. Didn't get anything either... 🙁 But if a person is rejected, they are supposed to receive some kind of a notice as well, no?

if they are just screened out before secondaries and interviews...I dont think we would get a notice.

So far, I have created a universal "why osteopathic medicine" paragraph to be used for most secondaries. I then have a short second paragraph that specifically addresses "why our school". I have pumped out three secondary essays using this format and I think they're all pretty informative and to the point.

Anyone else care to share their format?

quick question: when you are answering "why osteopathic medicine?" do you need to include the reasons that you want to be a physician (i covered this in my aacomas ps) or do you just need to address why osteopathic medicine rather than any kids of other medicine?

I am STILL waiting for AACOMAS to release my app...no gpa calculations or anything. It's been a month and I have emailed them several times.

how come on their website, it says that you are invited to fill out a secondary first, then the interview?

did you people already send in the secondary? Or did they just send u an interview first?
