I sooooo upset, If I was one point higher in physics I would be happy about it. OMG I think im going to go cry for like five days now.

I guess i'm taking it again in January/February....

AAMC avg: PS 12.5 VR 10 BS 12
Actual mcat: PS: 10 VR: 12 BS: 13 WS: S

I never got above 11 in VR in practice, so I'm really happy about my mark 😀

Practice: About 31 (4 AAMCS)
Expected: 27-31
Actual: 32P (10/12/10)

this is my first post, as i usually lurk. i hope i'm pretty competitive for any MD programs after this, my gpa is a bit lower than most of the ones i see on this forum. i might keep practicing as if i might retake in march or january, but there's a strong chance i dont pull the trigger unless i can pull those 10s up. i think there were a lot of content gaps, but i'm pretty happy with this

good luck to everyone after this, yall worked hard. i've been lurking for a while

AAMC Average: 32
Actual: 10,11,12 - 33P
Pretty damn happy to not have to study again! Congrats to everyone who achieved their goal!

The worst part about my 31R is that I have no bleeping clue whether or not I should retake..... (3.52 GPA)

Im in the same boat as you.

3.6cGPA/3.75sGPA and a 31Q (14/6/11)

That verbal may be the only thing holding me back and I dont know if I should apply or not... That was my 3rd exam

Contact schools. A 6 will be auto screened at certain schools. Is english your second language?

English is my first language and this is my 3rd exam. My issue is I never read books throughout my life. The speed I read and comprehend is lackluster and I am pretty sure I suffer from SHORT term memory so when I read a passage in 4 minutes, I lose half the material. If i read every passage twice it would be a different story.

29R on the 7/6 test. 10PS 9VR 10BS

30R on the 9/7 test. 12PS 8VR 10BS

Consistently scored between 10-12 on VR on the AAMC practice tests. Oh well Ill take it.

I'm kind of disappointed but Im not sure what I expected.

I took a total of 3 aamc practice tests
baseline: 25
midway: 25
after contentt review : 30
Actual: 28R 7/11/10

Not sure if I have what it takes to write another one.... Any schools that would accept my score?

So it is my first post on sdn. Though frustrated by my verbal score, I think I ll just take it for this year.

First shot: 24L(12,5,7) on7/6/2012
Second one: 31P(14,6,11)

14/6/11... 31Q

You gotta be F***ing kidding me.

Should I just try applying with this score? Hahahaha
I had a 12/7/12 and retook.
7 is at best a red flag, at worst a dealbreaker. 6 in VR with only a 31 overall is an easy retake.
You obviously know your sciences. Hard to do worse than 6 on VR and if you do better on even one VR passge you're looking at an 8.
FYI, I got an 11 on my VR 3 weeks later.

Good luck.

same boat I have like a 3.47 and i just got this 32P. if you got it in you, here's what I may do. I think I might still study as if I'm going to retake in either january and march. if studying isn't going how i want or if i'm not seeing worthwhile improvement, maybe I won't go through with it.

Are you my twin?? 31Q (14, 6, 11).

What are you going to do??

I dont know if we are at the same situation. As an international student, I think they have a higher bar for us to get admitted. But I know one who came from Africa and scored 30 last year got in case western and uminn med school.

37R !!!

First try
AAMC Average (n=8) = 13/11/13

YEUHHHHHHHH!!

It's finally over....😀

Wasn't this the test with a very easy VR section? What is up with the lower than average VR scores then?

Hard to base off of what people say honestly, I thought it was not THAT easy, predicted an 8 maybe 9. But I got a 10 which was my highest on any VR practice.

That's what I'd like to know. I consistently averaged 12's and 13's on all verbal practice tests and felt this mcat verbal was the easiest by far and yet only ended up with an 11

I got my AAMC average for everything except Biological Sciences. I got one point lower. I'm surprised, I was expecting my average.

I predicted a 32R. I ended up getting a 31R. I don't know whether to be disappointed or indifferent.

Hi everyone I got my mcat back last month and it was a 19. Last year I had made a 22.

I am wondering what my chances are if I took it again in May or so and did well.

I have a 3.8, a publication, shadowing exp, volunteer work, etc.

Please advise

Thanks.

I'll take it! And never take this test again!

8 PS + 9 VR + 12 BS = 29O
Surprised by BS scored (higher than expected) and VR score (lower than expected).
I'll take it. Still applying this cycle.

Hey, I haven't applied to any state schools this year, but I'm genuinely curious about where a 29 or in my case 28 would be competitive?

Check out the "Any 27-29 MCAT with interviews????" thread. People list their stats, where they applied and where they got interviews. Good resource.

Welp, apparently my post-test feelings were accurate. Didn't think I did well in PS (relative to my average) and I was right. Thought I did well in BS (relative to my average) and I was right. Did not get the dream 15 on verbal either (not a huge surprise there)... F*ck this test. It figures that BS, the section that I consistently scored lowest in during practice would be my best section on test day. WTF. F*CK YOU MCAT. F*CK YOU AAMC. I did get high enough to post in the 30+ thread, but not what I was hoping for. So sad right now. Good bye top tier medical school. Good bye.

12/8/10 = 30R

My theory didn't work for verbal, which was that I could take it cold (I didn't study for it, didn't do any practice problems) and get a 12.

I did, however, expect higher in the bio, but then again, it was not like any practice test I'd done. I'm calling that one a wash.

The PS section went well like I thought, but I wish I'd gotten a 13 or 14. 12 shmelve.

I'm considering retaking it after actually preparing for verbal, though.

What say you? Retake it after doing a verbal prep?

Verbal is pretty resistant to change, but since you didn't study for it the first time you can probably net +2 with some work. After seeing all the high PS scores on here I'm strongly considering a retake. It's really f*cking frustrating to score lower on test day than people you consistently averaged higher than in practice, which is the case in PS for me. Though, judging from BS scores, the opposite happened for me. My BS average was pretty low and on test day I scored higher than people with much higher averages in practice. This test is really, really dumb. Luck is a factor.

I LOVED THE WRITING SECTION !!! -.-

PS: I thought I did good, I got pressed by time probably my best section. I had 2 questions were I went.. I AM NOT DOING THIS QUESTION, and just guessed.

VR: I did not have enough time to do all of the last passage I think the passages were easy as in subject wise (I would have rather had philosophy heavy since curve is usually better with these).

BS: There were passages like a freaking story.... anyway, I think there were 2 passages around the middle that I felt were Hard, and the rest was regular stuff. There were couple of questions that were time intensive unless you were Watson.

Prediction: PS/VR/BS 11/10 /09 (30)

Average AAMC: 31.7

I would have done a lot better if I didn't stop on some Qs in the biology section. IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE YOUR TEST YET answer the Qs and move on... don't be a dumba** like me.

Probably will retake in Jan.

More detailed Average..
AAMC 10 -- 8/06/2012 30 (10/9/11)

AAMC 3 8/17/2012 30 (12/9/9)

AAMC 7 8/22/2012 31 (11/8/12)

AAMC 5 8/26/2012 34 (12/10/12)

AAMC 8 8/30/2012 32 (13/10/9)

AAMC 9 9/03/2012 33 (13/10/10)

AAMC 11 9/05/2012 32 (13/9/10)

Actual PS:8 VR:8 BS:11 (27O)

I don't feel down... even though that score is lower than all of my practice tests, especially that physics section. I wasn't stressed on the exam, I think I was to clam actually.

I see this as an opportunity to kick MCAT's ass the next time I do it.
