Nice!

My first of five showed up yesterday.

@Giovanotto AACOMAS emails you. You can also see it on the CAS after you submit.

You can see your actual like scanned transcript or just that they have one from X university ?

What im saying is that I thought in one of the MCAT threads, you made like a 40 something on your MCAT and was wondering if you are applying to DO because with an MCAT in the upper 30 range, and still applying to DO shows some serious dedication to osteopathic medicine.

Ah!

Yes, I scored 40+ on the MCAT. I have a variety of reasons for applying to osteopathic schools, but in general I am quite fond of osteopathy. I have worked with some excellent osteopaths in a variety of specialties and do not view it as a back up plan. I am applying to MD and DO schools this cycle, and if I am fortunate enough to receive an acceptance to both - I will be choosing based on how I feel the fit of the school is. Whether it is MD or DO has little meaning to me.

This needs to be quoted and pasted on the front page of the osteopathic forum. Awesome outlook, gives a good name to the field. :highfive:

Ah I thought you did so. Thats why I asked, its rare to see an applicant with your mentality, and I like it! I agree with the above poster. This needs to be quoted and pasted on the front page of the osteopathic forum indeed.

AACOMAS has received all my transcript except for my current institution. I will be sending my current one at end of the May, when the final grade is in. However, if I am planning to take couple more classes in summer from different institution and I create a new school and future classes in AACOMAS, is this going to delay my verification? Do they start the verification process when they receive ALL transcript? If that is the case, my plan is to just not mention the future classes that will be taken, just send it as soon as it is verified, and just update it later when I am done with the classes. What do you guys think?

Is anyone having trouble accessing AACOMAS? I keep trying to access the login site, but all I get is the AACOM logo with nothing else...

And the website crashed on me last night too and I haven't been able to access it since!

Just checked, works for me.

Timewarner on Firefox.

I go to the AACOM website, and at the top of the frot page there is an AACOMAS link.

It weirded me out because all of the sudden searching google for AACOMAS gave me no link to the application all of the sudden, but going through AACOM seems to work.

Did anyone have the problem about AACOMAS not letting you submit? It shows that all sections are completed but when I go to "Manage My Programs", I am unable to pay and submit. The option is greyed out.

I had the same issue last week. I called AACOMAS and they said a few people have had this issue. They had it fixed by the next morning and called to let me know it was up and working. Guess we're just part of the lucky few 😉

This is happening to me too- it's saying jan 14th instead of the 15th when I took it earlier in the year.

How are you notified when your transcripts get it? I had them sent out last Friday and haven't heard anything.

Good Morning

Thank you for contacting AACOMAS. This is a display issue that is present
solely on the applicant side and does not effect your application. We are
working to resolve the issue however you do not need to wait for a resolution
to submit.

Help us make your application experience better! We’re always working on
improving the application — email us at: [email protected] if you
would like to participate in reviewing upcoming changes.

I requested 4 transcripts last sunday(5/10) with confirmation that they have been sent out and AACOMAS has not recieved any yet..I want to submit so bad! Is it too soon to start calling about them? What is the average length it takes?

I emailed them and they said it takes 10 business days after receipt to process.

Ugh I'm so obessive..I'm just worried something went wrong and then I'll have to wait another 10+ days to get them through again. Also is there a place our MCAT is supposed to show?

Nope.

You can email them if you want, they got back to me in one day.

Ugh me too! I had my stuff sent out on May 8th so I guess if they don't have it by Monday next week I can panic because that's over the 10 business days?

Wow 2 people verified already within 4 and 5 days of submitting. Must feel nice, ya?

how did people get their transcripts in so early...

i took a risk by sending the transcripts without aamcomas id on may 1st. luckily when i called them to see if i have to resend the transcripts, they said i don't have to (they will locate the name in transcript with application).

So I was approved for fee waiver, and have till the 26th to submit. Problem is, I'm still waiting on my committee letter from pre-med advisor, and letter from the PI of my lab. Once you submit, how much of the information can you go back and edit? For example, school choices, and letters requested, as well as experiences and all....can these things be edited after submitting?

(Side note, should the committee letter have ALL recommendation letters, including the one I have from a Md, DO, and research supervisor? Or should those be submitted separately, with the committee letter having only professors letters given to my advisor?)

Pretty sure the only thing you can change is adding letter of reference and adding schools to apply to. Everything else is locked. Better get that nose to grindstone and get that app done.

Letter don't really need to be in until you submit secondaries but obviously earlier is better. No idea how committee letters work.

I had mine sent out 11 days ago and still haven't heard anything, getting paranoid now lol

hey everyone
do the number of evaluations you have matter as well? I have 2 ( d.o letter and pre med committee )

So I can potentially submit my application with just a couple of schools listed down, to make use of that fee waiver, and then go back and add the remaining schools I want to apply to while it's still being verified and all?

That's what I did last year. Activities/PS/course entry/etc. need to be complete though.

I've been waiting 10 days as well. I got confirmation the transcripts went out the day I requested. Therefore, there is probably a processing delay on the aacomas side.

Great to know. What is the max # of schools one can apply to, with the fee waiver intact, as well as that set 7 schools for price of 1 fee AACOMAS gives? Any idea? (might be a question for someone from AACOMAS I realize)

Not sure what you mean. You only get 3 schools for free with the fee waiver.

A colleague of mine said that you get to pick 7 schools to send out your application to for a set fee, but maybe he didn't know what he was talking about. Anywho, I'll call AACOMAS and find out.

Conversely, an additional question. I've noticed that certain schools required no less than a C for certain pre-reqs; I have one C- in Physics 1, and a D in Gen Chem 2. The rest of my transcript is well off and shows an upward trend in grades as the semesters go on, but those are 2 unfortunate blemishes. Would I be pre-screened out for programs based on these blemishes, since the pre-reqs state for certain schools that a C is the minimum.

I've got a fee waiver too and I've already paid. 35 a piece past the first 3.

You would be prescreened out of those schools, yes.

I would call each school and ask them if you will be screened out. I have a C+ in a 1 credit hour lab that Rowan requires a 2.5+ in--I called them and asked and they said that my stats are competitive and I should still apply even though I don't meet that one minimum. It is very possible that Rowan is an exception, but it can't hurt to ask. Although, I am baffled by why they list a minimum if it isn't actually a strict minimum...

Is a C+ not a 2.5? I guess if your scale has -'s then it could be 2.3. Regardless, doing slightly less hot in a 1 credit lab is a lot different than nearly failing 2 prereqs.

Yes, it's a 2.3. And yes, it is different but I was just making the point that it may not be a hard minimum for all schools. If @Chubaka31 did really well in higher level science classes, that may be taken into consideration. Considering that most schools do not have these minimums for pre-reqs on their websites, it's possible that they just listed an ideal minimum to fill in the box on the AACOMAS app. Or Rowan's exception could be a fluke. Either way, it still can't hurt to spend a few minutes and call schools to check.

fyi guys, got the notification that 3/4 transcripts were received in my application. I didn't revive any emails about it though..maybe because I haven't submitted yet..I was waiting on the transcripts, but I guess you have to submit before you can see them under "manage my programs"..o silly vague aacomas directions..

I got verified today 😀... I'll update my name to the list in a second, but has anyone else had this message when they try and download their PDF under the program status tab?
" {"status":"500","messages":[{"message":"A system error occurred, Please contact system administrator."}]} "

I get the same error. I had assumed it was because my app isn't verified yet, but apparently that is not the case.
