***The Official COLORADO Dental Class of 2020 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

Well I asked if anyone was interviewing on the 2nd because the day after (the 3rd), I'm renting a car and doing some exploring at rocky mountain and red rocks. So if anyone wants to hop in for the adventure, ill be glad to pick a few of you up! Just msg me if you're down!

(I'm not sketchy I promise, haha. Just a gal who's always down to meet new peeps and adventure)

This sounds like a dating ad at this point so ill stop. But yeah, just let me know if you wanna venture!

How have the interviews gone, guys? Any interesting details?

Very laid back. Only like 1-2 traditional questions asked and then the rest was whatever you wanted to talk about (which could be good or bad depending on whether you actually have stuff you wanna talk about or not).

And you have two 20-25 min interviews each with just one interviewer. For me, both were very laid back and most students said theirs were too.
One girl told me her interviewer, when asked about the course load of D2 year, said "oh, let me tell you, 2nd year is a load of bull ****, haha"

so yeah. hahaha

Faculty/students/professors all seemed very happy and friendly. Facilities were all nice and quite new. Saw plenty people waiting in the clinic lobby so i guess their clinic is pretty busy, which is a good sign.

Is the interview open or closed file?
open file! but none of my interviewers asked me anything related to my file. A lot of the other interviewers I was with that day said the same also. Seriously, Colorado interview is very conversational. You should still prep for sure cause they asked me like an ethical question and 1 regular interview question, but no need go overboard!

I would say prepare more on things you'd like to talk about. Have good questions ready and not just about the school but personal questions regarding the interviewer and about colorado/denver area if you're not a resident. One of my interviewers ended up showing me some of her own personal pictures on her work computer of some cool places I should visit and then we ended up talking about her trip. haha so yeah. Spend less time preparing for your own answers and spend more time thinking of ways to keep the convo interesting! For this school at least 🙂

Thank you so much for the details.

Interview scheduled for Dec. 14th! Glad to hear the interview sounds fairly relaxed, those are the best ones!

Hey guys and gals. How were the clinicals at this program? Super interested to learn more about this school.

And congrats to all of those already accepted!

They run a pretty neat program (ACTS program) where 4th years rotate to clinics around the state (two weeks out, two weeks at the DS, repeat). Facilities are nice, above average from what I've seen at my interviews. There's an emphasis on integrating the other health professional students into the program for cross-training and cooperative ties. The campus is nice, but the surrounding area is pretty run-down.

I have not heard from Colorado at all, not even the fee request... is this a silent rejection. Probably will be calling them tomorrow. Applied here in October

You receive the supplemental fee request at the same time as the interview invitation, so no need to worry about that. And I applied in July and didn't receive an interview invitation until late November (I had my interview on Dec 4th). They hold interviews through March and send out batches of acceptances mid-January, mid-February, and then the last batch is mid-March.

Does anyone know if Colorado gives out scholarships and if they do is it offered upon acceptance?

They have a financial aid meeting about loans and places to find scholarships (i.e. HPSP, AADSAS website...). I don't think they have specific scholarships from the university. Here is a website to check out, but it could just be for CU denver: http://www.ucdenver.edu/AID/Pages/default.aspx

Congratulations to all of you who have interviewed and gotten accepted! I'm excited for you guys and can't wait to know myself.

I'm still waiting for an interview invitation. I feel good about my chances, but like some of you said, this is a long and anxiety-inducing waiting game.

Also waiting for an interview or rejection...does your AADSAS portal say under review?

So i have an interview for UC SDM on jan 12 and im excited!! I have alot of questions if anyone can help me out.

Does anyone know the Interview/acceptance schedule?

What I mean by this is that (for example) VCU has its first wave of interviews before december than the first wave of acceptances Dec 1st. then their 2nd wave starts and the 2nd wave of acceptances is mid feb. How does UC do it? When will i find out if I got in?

Does anyone know how the interview is structured?
For example how many interviews? with how many people? any other activities? do they provide food? Is there an essay?

If anyone has been there, how was your experience?
Did you like the school? the equipment? the staff? is the area nice? can you see yourself living in colorado?

Finally, Does anyone else have an interview this cycle?

I interviewed there last cycle and there were three individual interviews. I saw two faculty members (a dentist and a hygienist) and one of the administrators. But maybe somebody with more recent experience can tell you more. By the way, when did you receive your invitation?

I interviewed in the beginning of December.

Barbara said that they will send out waves of acceptances mid January, mid Febrary, and mid March.

First there was a group orientation for about an hour, along with a financial aid explanation. They provided snacks and water. Then Interviewees broke off and we had two 20-min 1 on 1 interviews each (mine were with a dental professor and with the student outreach advisor) which were relaxed. No essay. And then an hour tour of the campus led by 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year students. The equipment and facilities were nice and the atmosphere was friendly.

Overall great, relaxed, and friendly experience. I enjoyed it.

Interviewed December 14th.
Accepted January 5th.

Has anyone else received some good news? I'm still holding onto hope for an interview invitation but my status remains "under review." The clock is ticking...

As did I. My pipe dream of 4 years in colorado is over 🙁
