Received Waitlist email this morning. I called to ask about not having an interview and was told they don't require interviews for acceptance.
 
I received a rejection email a few days ago. They said the class had been full since December and they were waiting to see if any seats would open up before continuing the process
 
Do you guys know how many of us are receiving alternative list email ?
 
I received the email as well, but was accepted to Iowa, so I will decline my spot. Wish you all the best!
 
Maybe one or two spots may open up, but at this point most of the class is set. I'm not sure how many are on the waitlist. Fewer than 10 I would think. If no seats open up and you are on the waitlist, there is a chance that Dr. Norton could invite you to do the special masters in oral biology program there with the dental students. It's an extra two years but you are guaranteed a spot in the dental school upon completion, and take a half course of dental classes which you don't have to repeat when you start your D1 year. Its what I did, and its been a good program.

That sounds very interesting. Do you think we wouldn't hear back about open spots until May/June?

I wasn't invited to join the program until May. Its definitely worth considering if it ever comes up.
 
Does the wait-list opportunity email mean you are waitlisted, or are they going to reselect applicants from that pool for their alternate list?

The waitlist and alternate list are the same.
 
I also got the waitlist e-mail but already have 2 acceptances, so I will be declining my spot on it! Best of luck to all of you for any that are still waiting! 🙂
 
Anyone hear anything yet that’s on the waitlist? I am in this scenario where Dr. Norton told me to send in midterm grades to him but my “liberal arts” education doesn’t do midterms or post them on an unofficial transcript. What do I do

There’s always a chance! From what I understand there’s usually some good movement around the deadline in April and some smaller ones each month up until it starts.

There’s even people who’ll drop right before due to finances etc or even the first few days in.

That gives me some hope, thank you! Do you have any idea of how the waitlist works since the email mentioned that it is not ranked?

Only from looking at other forums. So really no clue! But I think they’ll just pull out the stack of people and review them again and each time they need more. But I could be way off.

If it were ranked they would publish a list of where you’re at and you could see if you’ve moved up. That being said I think everyone stands a better chance overall because 1.) you’re already on the list 2.) it’s fluid and not a fixed position so everyone has an equal chance every time there’s a position available. This is big because a weaker GPA could beat a better GPA.

If it were straight GPA/DAT they would have a ranked list IMO. So I’m speculating they’re not going to be using that as a base as you’re already in the list. Probably more off of what your extracurricular activities are and what your personal statement says about you as a person etc. However, this is complete speculation from what I’ve read so no promises.

Have you explained that to him? Also, are you saying you cannot get last semesters grades, or are you saying you can’t get this semesters grades (I don’t think anyone has those yet)?

If you cannot get them I would email him the schools policy/procedures for grades and their release if possible... but that’s just me.

Are you on the waitlist and updating your information?
 
I haven't heard anything. Are people checking how the waitlist is doing or just waiting like me?
 
I don’t think they’ll make any updates until after the deadline. Then if people drop after the deadline for whatever reason they’ll do an update as soon as possible. IMO.

Has anyone's AADSAS status changed who received the waitlist email earlier this month?

Schools are notified on April 1st of the students who are holding other schools. On the 5th I believe (or 15th) is the last day to go down to 1 school before schools can give you a 15 day notice before the offer is rescinded.

For those of you on the waitlist, have you interviewed? It seems a lot of people got on the waitlist without interviewing?

Not necessarily after the deadline, because if someone drops, they need to find someone to replace it as soon as possible!

I imagine as I’ve been saying above that we probably won’t know until after the deadline.

Of course this is all my opinion but they’re probably waiting to see how many have multiple offers to get an estimate of the size of waitlist possibly needed with a few additional and then after the deadline start going through the waitlist right away...

So they’ll probably start notifying people within the next two weeks if they didn’t make it.

On April 1, can schools see how many other places a student is waitlisted at besides their school, or just where they have put deposits down.
 
Hello everyone.

So I've been doing some more research into how Creighton handles their waitlist. First, It seems they send out the alternate list to every qualified applicant that applied that cycle (1000 +). Second, they start to compile a list of people after the response deadline of said email. They make an active waitlist as well as a non active waitlist. The first being their top choices, the latter being those who would replace someone who drops from the list. The WL size is ~30 people. The WL is typically finished around beginning to mid April... So be sure to keep checking your AADSAS for that WL status
