*** The Official LECOM Class of 2024 Interview/Acceptance Thread ***

I interviewed on 12/5. I'm starting to worry because if AADSAS status is none, that is not a good sign. What was your status before?
AADSAS always shows none for LECOM. It’s fine.

Will we be hearing back today by email, or just snail mail? My status is “a decision has been made, you will receive an official letter within 30 days” for anyone who’s wondering

I interviewed all the way back in September. My LECOM portal still says “a decision has not been made” - I have been waiting for December 2 and January 2 and still have heard nothing. Does this mean I’m on the waitlist? It would be nice to hear at least something back from the admissions committee. Anyone else in this situation???

Accepted! Email received at 9:06am. Thank you for help from everyone! Crying
Y’all lucky this school is on point with the schedule. Other dental schools usually don’t let you know for at least a few days to weeks following today’s date.

Got my acceptance email! So relieved this is all over. For reference, my LECOM status was a decision has been made and a letter will be sent in next 30 days. This status was changed to this on December 31st. Good luck to everyone else!!

You will receive an email invitation for the waitlist if chosen for that I believe.

Congrats to everyone that was accepted today! If you're still waiting on news, the next round of acceptances should be sent on January 17th. Sometime after then, it will be rolling admissions until the class is full.

If you haven't heard back anything at all (no supplemental application or interview), I would consider thinking of ways to boost your application (DAT, masters, volunteering, etc.) just in case you think you might have to reapply next cycle.

It’s Christmas break. You guys HAVE TO relax a bit. I wouldn’t expect any movement until after New Years. As stated before, the first round people have to get cleared first before other movement begins. PLEASE be patient and read through what has already been posted several times.
The thing is, I have not been offered an interview, so that's why I said I was getting worried. For those who already interviewed hope you hear good news soon!

It's better to be proactive and set yourself up for success in the unfortunate case that you will have to reapply next cycle.

My ADEA portal changed from 'none' to 'received/under review', did this happen to anyone else

yes it did awhile back -- not sure if it means anything lol
is this change after you received an email also saying the committee is reviewing it now

I just received an email just stating that my supplemental app has been processed and to check the LECOM portal for updates. Anyone else receive this? I applied in Sept and submit supplemental early Oct.

Sent from my iPhone using SDN

I received that on December 21

Totally random but at lecom in our first and second year we are required to take a trip to DSG (the lab that all florida dental schools sent their lab work to). I was there today and had the chance to talk to one of the lab techs that does crowns and he was telling me that of all three schools, lecom had the best crown margins of any schools by far and he often struggles to find the margin on crown preps coming from NSU and that the overall lab work (models/dies) that comes from UF is half way done and that he usually has to do a lot of extra work on his end to make them usable.

I know we all claim that our school is best but at LECOM they expect a lot from us as far as details go and it is clearly evident in our clinical and lab work according to the unbiased lab.

just saying....

I just received an email for interview at 10:20am today. Should i pick the soonest day as possible (1/30) or 2/06 (better for my schedule) would be fine ? and what hotel should i stay at ?

If you can swing it, I would say pick the soonest date. The longer you wait, the more spots that can be taken. Good luck!

I just chose my interview date for 02/06 since it was the soonest. For past interviewers, can you give me an overview of what to look for that day and what i should prepare for? Did you like the tour along with the PBL methods? Thanks you!

It was my first interview,I was super nervous and it was veryyyy long day...They give you all the information about the school and more: from what's in the area to how to use your loans wisely. Make sure you eat well before you come.Interviews are later during the day. First we met the Dean, then we had a couple of presentations, then soap carving, and only after that we had our interviews. I was starving before the interview. Lunch was right after the interviews, then the tour, and then a couple of presentations ( from Shannon Phillips and financial advisor). I loved the tour. Our group was split and tour was given by several students. I got lucky-my tour was only me and one other girl. 2 students showed and explained us everything. I loved the tour. I got accepted into 3 dental schools and I chose Lecom!! I feel like it's a great school!! Good luck

Does anybody know what color our scrubs will be? Just out of curiosity. I remember them telling us at the interview, but I can't seem to remember what it was.

They told us it would probably be navy blue.

How bad is the health insurance? Couldn't find any info on it online.

Well... that was uneventful lol! I looked for it and can’t find it, sorry! But I know it is through Blue Cross which is what I have with my undergrad and it’s been really good insurance for the most part. Nothing I can complain about. Maybe current students will have more insight about the specific plan.

What do you want to know? Cost?

Coverage, how widely in the area it is accepted, deductibles, co-pays, RX coverage, etc.

I don't have the insurance offered by the school so I can't really answer those questions; however, if you're still on your parents insurance, you can resubmit proof of coverage every ~6 months to avoid enrolling.

that's difficult to say because I haven't needed to use it much. I know there a several clinics near the school that take our insurance. I think my copay was $15. Rx coverage seemed okay like cheap generics, etc. The plan is Highmark BCBS Community Blue PPO. You can look it up online. That may help you more specifically. 👍

I interviewed in the beginning of December and they told us that we'd get an answer (accepted or rejected) on the 1st of January. It's now the 14th and I'm still waiting to find out. Anyone else?

It’s not over until you get a rejection. Hang in there. Your results will come.

The next round of acceptance should be sent out on January 17th. Sometime after this date, it changes into rolling admissions with acceptances being sent out as seats are individually filled until the class is full.

No news can still mean good news as it implies that you're still being considered as a candidate for LECOM-SDM.

I have a question for current LECOM students:
How often will we be in scrubs compared to formal wear? And when are you supposed to wear formal clothes? thank you!

To add onto this, do we really have to wear only white undershirts? Can we get away with another color?

I have a question for current LECOM students:

You will be in your scrubs (royal blue) 99.8% of the time. The only times you are required to wear formal/business attire are Orientation Week in July (includes that first ½ day on the previous Friday) and Research Day in April. So your first day in scrubs should be when you have either your CPR class or dental kit distribution day.

To add onto this, do we really have to wear only white undershirts? Can we get away with another color?
I haven't heard of any rules regarding approved colors of undershirts and only a handful of my classmates regularly wear them. My class wears wine scrubs so I've seen white undershirts (mainly for religious reasons), gray, black, mustard yellow, and wine. For most of us, if we get cold we put on either our embroidered lab jacket or just a regular sweater/sweatshirt/hoodie.
Only exception to the lab jacket rule is if you're in clinic, then only isolation gowns may be worn atop your scrubs.
Only exception to the sweatshirt rule is if you're in your designated sim lab session, sweatshirts are prohibited and only the lab jacket may be worn.

Both of these questions are great questions to ask in your LECOM School of Dental Medicine Class of 2024 Facebook group because I'm sure your future classmates are wondering the same thing.

With any school, there is no set in stone date that you will be guaranteed to hear back news regarding your application, only potential dates where they'll notify you of their decision on your application. For LECOM, there are only 3 dates where "batch/waves" offers are sent out: December 2nd, January 2nd, and January 17th (for the 2024 cycle). Sometime after that last date, it becomes rolling admissions until the class is full.

If you do not hear back anything tomorrow, then assume you're now waiting for a position on a rolling admissions. This means you could get that admissions offer at any point until the class size is full (which could happen at any point mid-Spring until the first day of school).

tl;dr those 3 dates mentioned above are the only 3 pre-determined dates where you could potentially hear a decision.

So if I did not even have an interview with school until today, that means basically rejected? 🙁

If you haven't received a supplemental application by now, then your chances are probably not as good.
If you received a supplemental application but not an interview, there's still a chance as interviews run until mid-spring.
If you had your interview today, then clearly they're interested in you and not an auto-rejection. They wouldn't waste your time and there by having you interview, if they were just going to reject you.

No news is still good news because that means you're still being considered. If they didn't like you right off the bat, then you probably would've received a rejection on December 2nd.

Best of luck!

Does their supplemental go out to everyone? I’m trying to remember what it was and I only recall a fee.
