*** The Official LECOM Class of 2024 Interview/Acceptance Thread ***

Graduate schools are unfortunately "notorious" (for a lack of better words) for not having many scholarships available. Every few months, the school does send out an email with national/local scholarships we can apply for. In fact, we received an email this morning for a Manatee/Sarasota county scholarship.

As far as I know, LECOM only offers 2 scholarships: LECOM Academic Scholarship and the Exceptional Financial Need Scholarship. Once you matriculate, they inform you about the LECOM scholarships in the fall, you apply, and they are awarded in the spring as a part of disbursement.

How much is the academic one? Also I remember them mentioning there were scholarships kinda randomly awarded for those who volunteered with the school, like when giving pre-dentals tours and stuff.

Did anyone’s LECOM portal change to a decision being made yet? Just curious because I saw it happen in last year’s thread.

I'm having my interview on Dec 5th, does anybody know how many seats will be open then? and how long will they notify you?

No one knows how many seats are left open or "saved" for post-December interviewees. LECOM will send out admissions starting December 2nd. That round of acceptances has a month to decide. The next round of acceptances will be sent out January 2nd. After that, I believe it's just on a rolling admissions until all 105 seats have deposits paid.

Are LECOM’s acceptance emails all sent at the same time? I didn’t receive anything 🙁

Congratulations to everyone that was accepted!

If you didn't receive an acceptance email around 9AM this morning, there's still hope that you will receive a waitlist email(or letter?) or status update on AADSAS. There is a lot of movement on the waitlist as people turn down offers because they were accepted elsewhere. So don't lose hope just yet.

Does this LECOM portal update mean a rejection? "The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your application. You will receive an official letter in the mail within 30 days. "

I have no clue. Mine still says "Your file is under review by the Admissions Committee. We will notify you as soon as a decision has been made."

Not necessarily a rejection. Wait for follow up.

I got accepted and I have the same status as yours on the portal

Still haven’t got an interview. My application says under Review. I’m not sure if I have a chance at this point

Mine says that they have not made a decision yet, interviewed in September. Didn’t get an email either

My interview is 12/5! What are my chances of getting an acceptance as a post December interviewee? And when should I be hearing back after my interview day? Can someone give me any information? Thank you 🙂

Assuming you already interviewed and did not receive an acceptance email this morning, it could mean either a rejection letter or a waitlist offer. Unfortunately, you won't know what the "decision" is until you receive a follow-up email or letter (not sure which it is to be honest).

If it's a waitlist offer, make sure you update Shannon with any relevant updates that could "boost" your application. If you haven't done so already, make sure you send in a letter of intent.
If it's a rejection letter, unfortunately there's nothing you can do about your chances at LECOM for this interview cycle. Hopefully, another school accepts you. If that doesn't happen or you're really set on LECOM, just take these next few months to boost next year's application (retake DAT, volunteer, shadow, etc.) so you can be an even stronger applicant come June.

The earliest possible response would be on 1/2, exactly 30 days from today, when the first round of acceptances has to decide whether to pay the deposit or not.

Interviews are usually held until the middle of spring, so there's still hope.

As long as you don't receive a rejection, you still have a chance.

You're in the wrong thread. I believe you're looking for the Medical or Pharmacy school threads. The Dental school only holds interviews on Thursdays.

No idea for the medical and pharmacy programs. I'm a dental student and the dental program usually holds interviews till the middle of spring.

what month they stop in the spring?

It's based on when the waitlist and seats are filled by strong candidates. Could be March or April, just depends on the applicant pool?

Again, this is for the dental program so I have no idea how any other LECOM program conducts their admissions process.

Congrats to all accepted today! For those still waiting, my class and the current D2 class have many classmates that were accepted post-Dec so do not worry. Keep working on your app, and send in your updates. For those that will be attending LECOM, we will post the Facebook page for C/O 2024 soon. We are in the midst of final exams right now, but as soon as we get the page set up, we will post the link here so you can plan/ask questions/meet new classmates, etc.

they havent rejected me yet? How does rejection letters come, is it by email, P.O. box mail, or what? My status is defined as "Your application has been processed and will be sent to the Admissions Committee for futher review. Your will be notified as soon as a decision has been made."

For those of you that have been accepted and plan on accepting/matriculating, once the "LECOM School of Dental Medicine Class of 2024" has been created by the current D1s (class of 2023), I'd highly suggest asking your questions on that Facebook page as I'm sure your fellow classmates will have the same questions. Here are some things people usually ask about:
  • How distribution of loans work
  • Matriculation packet (vaccines, physical exam, etc.)
  • Dental kit
  • Roommate finder and where to live
  • Things to do in the area/Florida
  • Extracted teeth (how many, when do you need them, what teeth, etc.)
  • Scrubs (where to buy, what brands to get/avoid, how many to get, embroidery, class color, etc.)
  • Class schedule
  • Social events to meet your new classmates
For those of you that have been placed on the waitlist or haven't heard back yet, feel free to keep asking your questions here. As mentioned previously, if you're on the waitlist, make sure to send in relevant updates that will "boost" your application to Shannon.

Your status appears as if the admissions committee has not made a decision on your application at all meaning they haven't accepted, rejected, or waitlisted you. Assuming you've had your interview already, all you can do is wait it out and send in any relevant application updates as you seem fit.

As far as rejection notices, I'm not sure if they send an email, physical letter, or just simply a "denied" on AADSAS portal. You would have to go back into last year's thread to see if someone posted how the rejection was sent.

I did not receive an email from LECOM today and my LECOM portal status changed to " The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your application. You will receive an official letter in the mail within 30 days." Does this mean I will be receiving a rejection letter in the mail or do I still have a chance of being waitlisted?
I was wondering the same thing
