*** The Official LECOM Class of 2024 Interview/Acceptance Thread ***

Hi, I applied at the very beginning.
Still no interview but still no rejection. It just says received/under review.
Is anyone in the same situation as me? Should I be discourage since it is after Dec. 2nd?
Thanks!
LECOM does post-December interviews. As long as you got the email that your supplemental was processed and no rejection, then that means you are actively being reviewed still. It wouldn’t hurt to send a letter of interest if this is a school you’re interested in attending but haven’t heard back from in awhile. Good luck!

I’m in the same boat. Sending an email to lecom admissions this Monday.

If i want to email Lecom, does anyone know the email I am suppose to send to? I heard there is only one person in charge of the whole admission department but I can seem to find her on the website.
Thanks!

Anyone know why we can't just use a surface pro as a laptop? They are basically the same spec wise as most laptops. What are we doing with them besides tests and notes?

I don’t know if it is capable of using Examplify. That would be the only thing I can think of. If it can I doubt it would be a problem. The majority of my class uses MacBooks even though the school IT doesn’t support them.

I would strongly discourage the Surface Pro as a laptop. The foldable desks attached to the seats in the lecture halls are not very wide so they don't fit well. Last year, one of my classmates had theirs on the desk, it slid off and completely shattered. They went with a traditional laptop after that.

They work fine in the PBL rooms because it's a giant table, but I think it would be more of a hassle to have a Surface Pro for PBL and a laptop for lecture.

Most students use a Mac, iPad (with Apple pencil), or a Windows-based laptop for lecture. Everyone brings a laptop of some sort for exam days.

Yeah, that was a concern of mine. I couldn't remember how wide those desks were.

I plan on just taking notes with one note on a tablet or 2-in-1 folded rather than typing though. Is there anything in the lecture hall besides exams that would require a keyboard or traditional laptop?

My 13" MacBook Pro just fits on the desk and it might even stick out a little so I'd say the desks are maybe 8" wide? A lot of people take notes in the lecture hall with a tablet of some sorts. Personally, I can type a lot faster and keep up with the lecturer than if I tried to write it all out but everyone's different.

Only thing that I can think of that absolutely requires a traditional laptop is exams. Examplify/Examsoft "locks" down your computer and disables wifi so only that app can be used. I'm not sure if tablets function with that.

Thanks for the info! The desks seemed super small but I didn't realize they were that tiny.

Do they give you ppts for the lectures?

For most classes they give you either a PowerPoint or PDF, but that can always change.

PBL has no material given to you. All of it is presented from the case scenario and then your group pick your chapters.

Does anyone know how often students dress up for class vs wearing scrubs?

Only time you're required to wear business professional clothes is on Research Day in April. If you have a presentation in your PBL group, you can dress up if you want. But 99.9% of the time, we're in scrubs.

To add to this, your entire first week of class you are required to wear professional dress. Anytime you come into the building before 5 pm, you must be in professional dress or scrubs.

If you're still waiting for an interview offer or were even placed on the waitlist (for ANY school), make sure you're doing things in your free time that are going to boost your application (volunteering, shadowing, fall semester grades, DAT scores, letter of intent [if interviewed], etc.) and make sure to send them in!

What's the best way to contact them? I emailed [email protected], but haven't gotten a response and it's been a few days. My status changed from awaiting review on the lecom portal website to requesting all letters of recommendation before making a final decision and I think they made an error because all of the letters of rec are on AADSAS, but can't seem to find a way to contact them ):

I had that same problem a couple months ago. I emailed and never got a response, but it was fixed a couple days later. I also called and left a voicemail. Not sure if they fixed it because se of email or voicemail because I never got called or emailed back.

I left a voicemail as well. I guess I’ll just wait. Thanks for the response!

Again, thousands of people have applied and are wondering why they're application isn't where they want it to be. At LECOM-SDM, admissions is run by 1 (one) person. She can't reply to everyone's email or voicemail or she'd never get stuff done. As long as you sent an email to [email protected] , it will be read.

I submitted my supplemental application on October 2nd but never got any notification from lecom that it was recieved. My AADSAS says "none" and my lecom portal says "We received your supplemental application. The review process will begin on your file. You will be notified when updates are made.".

I see that others say their AADSAS portal says "under review" should I email lecom to ensure my application is actually being processed? Or maybe I should send a letter of interest to bring their attention to my application? Any help/advice would be appreciated! 🙂

In my opinion, letters of intent/interest should only be sent after an interview. My reasoning is that you don't truly know you want to go LECOM until you tour the facilities and get a vibe for the area.

If you have any academic updates (as mentioned in previous posts), then you can email those but don't just send an email "making sure they're looking at your application."

I was referring to a letter of interest... not a letter of intent. A letter of interest would be me expressing my interest in their school/curriculum which is something you don't need to tour the school for! I'm just not sure if my application ever got processed so I wanted some advice on how I could reach out to them and whether directly asking them or sending a letter of interest would be more professional!

Just curious, for people who interviewed post-December, what is your status showing on LECOM portal?

Something to the tune of: thank you for interviewing, the committee is reviewing your information and will update when a decision is made.

Similar to your own?

I interviewed on 12/5 and it shows: admission committee has not made a decision yet...
I wonder if there is a difference between this and: your file is under review

Anyone else's application still not under review and with "none" status? Getting worried.....

It’s Christmas break. You guys HAVE TO relax a bit. I wouldn’t expect any movement until after New Years. As stated before, the first round people have to get cleared first before other movement begins. PLEASE be patient and read through what has already been posted several times.

The next round of acceptances won't be sent out until January 2nd(?), which will be 30 days after the 1st round. Anyone from that 1st round that declined the offer, will now have their seat opened to the 2nd wave of acceptances.

After this, the 3rd round is 15 days after the 2nd round, so should be January 17th(?). After this date, offers are made on a rolling basis until the class is full.

** (?): Because I don't work in admissions, these dates are just speculations based on what I remember from my application year.

You’re pretty on point from what I remember from our interview presentation!

My LECOM portal status just changed to "The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your application. You will receive an official letter in the mail within 30 days." Is there anyone on here who has gotten accepted or waitlisted with this status? My AADSAS status says "none" still.

Same here! When did you interview?

I interviewed on Oct. 31. How about you?
I interviewed on 12/5. I'm starting to worry because if AADSAS status is none, that is not a good sign. What was your status before?

My status has always been none on AADSAS. My LECOM portal status just changed today though.

Same, based on last year's thread, people got offer made status on AADSAS 12/31 if they are accepted. Not sure if this year will keep the same

My status changed to this when I was accepted on Dec. 2nd. Idk if it’s the same for the Jan 2nd offers, but I hope you get good news!

Don't expect a decision until January 2nd as that is the date the 2nd round of acceptances will be released and the 3rd round following on January 17th.

What was your LECOM status before it changed today? Mine was has not made a decision yet before it changed to a decision has been made.

That is exactly what mine said.
Well what do you think about our situation? Seems like a lot of other people still have under review status. And if you can start a private conversation with me? I can't do it on my end

Pretty sure it was mentioned during the interview day that anything by mail is a rejection letter.

The initial acceptance letter and matriculation forms are mailed. When I was accepted Dec 2nd, that was what my status changed to as well. I think it’s the same status for either acceptance or rejection.
