*** The Official LECOM Dental Class of 2019 Interview/Acceptance Thread ***

One of the guys I met at the interview told me he received an acceptance about 20 min ago. Looks like that was it...

For those that got accepted, has your LECOM portal changed? Or does it still say file is under review and you will be notified?

My portal just changed to "The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your application. You will receive an official letter in the mail within 30 days."

But I didn't receive an acceptance email.. I guess that means rejection/waitlisted?

Be on the lookout

Same result for me. However some schools don't send out all of their emails at once. There may be no correlation, but I've received my interview invite emails from various schools at random times throughout the day.

same with me

Which portal changed?
For everyone who was accepted today, what were your interview dates? Thanks in advance

For the people who were accepted what does your LECOM portal say?

Check your AADSAS portal (may not change till tomorrow). My LECOM portal changed on dec 1 and I was in limbo till the next morning when my AADSAS portal changed to wait-listed. Not saying this will be the case (don't want to get your hopes up) but that's what happened for me.

Same for me; my portal changed to decision had been made, and the day after my AADSAS portal changed to wait-listed.

I didn't. I will be taking myself off the wait-list today or tomorrow. So a seat will open for someone!

My portal also says
"The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your application. You will receive an official letter in the mail within 30 days."

But no email or adea update. Those who have gotten an acceptance email what does your portal say?

Check your LECOM portal status, not the AADSAS one, I had the same "Admissions Committee has made a decision" status. Safe to say this is a wait-list letter, I know I didn't mess up my interview for sure.

I was accepted Dec 1st and in January invited to my state school. If I am accepted in TX then I will withdraw from Lecom, but that could be even until May, so point is hang in there 🙂

are they still sending out more interviews? I want to interview at LECOM so bad

It appears that maybe people who aren't accepted mostly get waitlisted. Are people getting rejections out there?

Again, I was waitlisted Dec 1. but received an acceptance Jan. 1. I turned down the acceptance. There is hope for everyone that is waitlisted, just be patient =)

I interviewed on 1/22 and sometime this week my AADSAS portal updated to "Waitlist". My LECOM portal still says "decision has been made, I will receive an official letter in the mail within 30 days". Does anyone know roughly how many people get waitlisted? And has anyone gotten denied by LECOM so far after interviewing?

So how many seats total do they have?
I received an invite, but interview date is way out in april, so will i pretty much be interviewing for waitlist spot at that point?

I know some schools interview you to put you on waitlist, but some explicitly say they don't.

How did everyone like group interview? Was it cutthroat between applicants at all?

They have 100 seats total. I was a bit skeptical about the group interview at first, but it was not bad at all. Everyone in my group was very chill and it was more conversational than I expected. I felt good leaving the interview and I'm currently debating on attending this school. The interview really depends on the people in your group.

Who all is withdrawing their acceptance here? Thanks in advance

I interviewed there in Oct. and it was great. I was skeptical with it being a new school and all but the professors are super nice and the facility is beautiful. The group interview isn't that bad actually - there were 6 of us, and the questions were answered pretty fairly - about half of us were outgoing and the other three were shy - one guy in particular. So if you are super shy try to speak up more than you usually would. You can prepare by looking up the LECOM questions mentioned on this site actually - pretty accurate. Maybe only 1-2 questions were different. I'm holding an acceptance from Dec. 1 but if I get my in-state school I'll withdraw. The clinical experience there is fantastic - you get the equivalent of 4 years + a 1 year residency in your 4 years at LECOM.

Also, I'm too lazy to go and respond to all relevant posts, but if you guys are on the wait list and you really want to get in you should send them a letter of intent. Did that come up in your interviews? It came up in mine and they said it can really help your case if you show continued interest.

Like I said before, I was waitlisted in December.
I wrote a letter of intent in January but haven't gotten off the wait list yet. Should I write another one now or does that sound too desperate?

Hmmmm. You could send a quick message? Like "Just wanted to thank you so much for the interview and to emphasize my continued interest in your program. I'm excited about your program specifically because of the great clinical experience and the PBL curriculum, which I feel I would thrive in. Look forward to hearing from you!" I don't think that sounds desperate. What do you think?

At this point in the application, it's reasonably logical to act desperate. Go for it!

Just had the interview yesterday! I think it went pretty well but I guess we'll have to see once the next rounds go out. Just to update, there are 15 seats available, next rounds go out around March 4th or so. I was kind of hesitant about the school due to PBL but during the tour it started growing on me. Quite charming school actually.

I am also waiting on a spot from other schools due to the wait list and it seems to me that early march seems to be the week about 20 or so seats open up. Keep hope.

15 slots left and 2 more rounds of a very large intereview pool.I'm on wait list since dec. They are still interviewing. Pretty much ignoring that I'll get in. Hope can only go so far. But good luck to alll.

Aww, I hate to see so many spirits down. Its not the end of the cycle just yet, people are bound to be dropping their seats as they get accepted into their school of choice. I'm already looking to see what I need to improve upon in the event I don't get accepted but I'm also keeping my fingers crossed. I don't mean to sound like an annoying optimist but try and get your mind off of it and relieve some stress. No use fretting over it, you'll only wear yourself out.

when i hope time standstill so ill ignore! i noticed some people interviewing were already in somewhere else. i gauge they may take the spot. i wish i was already accepted somewhere and had a choice! can we all get together and hold each other and cry haha

I got the confirmation today that I had officially withdrawn my spot at lecom.
