***The Official LSU Dental Class of 2017 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

How did it go? What kind of interview. Also, how intimidating and important do you think the chalk carving was?

I thought the interview went well. There is a 1-on-1 interview and a 2-on-1 interview. Junebug didn't you interview with the Orthodontia professor? I did as well.

The chalk carving is fairly intimidating. If you practice it shouldn't be very hard. Practice under pressure and you'll be set. It seems to be quite important. At both interviews I was asked what grade I would give my chalk (1-10 scale). The director of admissions told us that there are several studies that show a strong correlation between chalk carving and clinical skills. They grade your chalk carving, but do not let you know the score.

Yes, I did! He was very nice and easy to talk to, as were both of my interviewers from the 2 on 1. Overall, I was very impressed.

Interviewed on 8/24. In-state. Like these guys all said, the interview is pretty laid back once you get past the chalk carving in the morning. Overall, I thought it went well. (Inside joke....K'NEX and buckyballs are entertaining)

Lsu isn't letting us know until dec 3. Anyone else get that email today?

Sure did.

FYI (for those who didn't receive the email):
AADSAS has asked that all schools wait until Dec. 3rd to notify students regarding acceptances...since Dec. 1st falls on a Saturday.

lol another 2 days of agonizing pain and waiting. :scared:

I know, why can't they do it one day in advance on Nov. 30 instead of 2 days late?!

When you sent your secondary app and residency documents, did you get an email confirming that they received it?

No, I never got a confirmation. I even e-mailed Candice to see if she received it but never got an answer. I got an interview invite a few weeks later though so I can't complain.

Hey guys, I am currently applying to LSU Dental School and had a few questions. For those that have already interviewed, how many pepole are interviewing each session? Also, how far in advance did you receive a notice for an interview and was it via email?

Thanks

There were 12 of us the first day of interviews. I received notice just under 4 weeks in advance. I am not sure, but their interview process may change a little bit because of the hurricane (apparently they had to cancel a day of interviews).

I received my invite with a little more than 2 weeks notice. I thought it was really short notice. I had an interview last year and had more than a month. Definitely chalk carve before your interview invite just in case you don't have much time.

Like Junebug, I also only had 2 weeks notification. Luckily I had started practicing my chalk well in advance, otherwise I would have been in a bind...

Just got an interview invite today! In-state. So excited!

Congrats! What date is it scheduled for? I have a friend who is waiting to hear back and I was wondering how far along they have scheduled them already.

Hey! Congrats on your interview! If you don't mind me asking, when did you take your DAT and long how did it take for them to upload it?

Thanks! It took a little while for them to upload it, I took it June 2nd and they uploaded it June 21st.

do you guys know if they are done sending out OOS interviews?

do you guys know if they are done sending out OOS interviews?

When I interviewed, the director of admissions mentioned that we were one of two OOS groups interviewing (interview dates 8/24 and 9/7). He also mentioned that there were several OOS who were unable to make those dates so they would fit them in somewhere else. So I believe that they are done with OOS invitations and probably most of the interviews as well.

edit:
The two major OOS groups interview dates are 8/24 and 9/28 (originally this group was scheduled for 8/31 but was changed because of the hurricane).

Hey guys I'm an in state student.
3.81 overall GPA
3.77 science
3.91 non science

My weakness is an 18AA/18TS on the DAT. I'm retaking it this Wednesday (which Dr. Cheramie knows about). I got a supp app on July 24 and filled it and sent it it in immediately.

Anybody in a similar situation? I haven't gotten any interview invites, but I know they interview all the way through November.
Say I go up on the DAT, I wonder if I can still squeeze out an interview... Getting kinda nervous.

Well as of today, scratch the old DAT scores...
I'm officially 20AA/19TS/20PAT... maybe I'll get lucky...

So will LSU fill their whole class Dec. 3rd? Or do they keep interviewing in January?

On the calendar they don't have any days set aside in December for interviews, but I wonder how religiously they follow their calendar...

December 3rd needs to get here quick!!! Hoping to become a member of the c/o 2017! 😀

I'm applying to LSU right now too, and I was wondering if anyone knows when we will be notified if we are not going to get an interview?

I'm not sure if you will be notified you aren't getting an interview. It would prob be a rejection letter on December 3rd. But you still have time keep your hopes up.

I've heard it is extremely competitive for this year's cycle. Over 1200 applications were received by the beginning of July. LSU is swamped for their app process.

I applied last year and didn't receive an interview but then they sent me a rejection email on Dec 13th :/ but like Junebug said, keep your hopes up!

I'm trying! If you don't mind me asking, what was your DAT score and gpa last year when you didn't get in? And are you in-state?

Hey bkille are you OOS or in state? I'm in state and am getting worried about an interview.
On the bright side, I have an interview at UT this Friday, but LSU is definitely on top since it's my state school (LOT less $$$ and my family is close)

Overall GPA 3.8 -- Science GPA 3.77 -- DAT 20AA/19TS/20PAT

hey nolasaint and twh019, I am an in state student, last year I had a 17AA/16TS/19 PAT with a 3.43 oGPA (I figured I would try my luck) obviously I needed to increase both my DAT and my gpa for this year. Also last year I had only 3 years worth of undergrad under my belt but I have a degree in biological sciences now. This year I have a 18AA/18TS/19PAT and a 3.5 oGPA and a 3.5 sGPA, which is "average" and better than last year but I was hoping for higher DAT scores...oh well it is what it is. lol (I hit a rough patch during my sophomore year trying to work 2 jobs and taking a heavy course load) I also applied EARLY this year compared to last year. Great stats by the way twh019! wish mine were like that! lol do you have an interview for LSU?

I sure don't have an interview. I've been 'somewhat' expecting one for LSU by some of the conversations I've had with Dr. Cheramie, but haven't heard a single thing from the office since I filled out the supp app. I applied to LSU at the end of June. I'm really hoping to hear something before the last week of October, because by then it would seem most of the interviews will have been given out.

Did you find alot of people you interviewed with were reapplicants?

I'm OOS and applied at the end of July so I'm nervous. I definitely want to be at LSU, but I know supposedly all of the OOS interviews have already been given 🙁.
DAT 21AA/22TS/19PAT
GPA: 3.88 overall and 3.82 science

When I had my interview, most of the people that were in there said they were re-applicants but also that they had an interview late last year. I applied early July. I am not sure about OOS students and how they do the interviews invites (as far as when they stop sending them) but I remember talking to Dr. Cheramie back in June and I know he said that they were doing things differently such as trying to get all the interviews done before Dec. 1st so that they can notify everyone early. I couldn't tell you if they are still sending them or not. Hopefully they still are!
