They should accept us all! What is the statistic... for every 5 dentists who retire only 3 new dentists replace them. Country in crisis people, necessary measures should be taken! 🙂

The only thing that would concern me is that people are pushing for mid level providers in dentistry.

Its more like 2:3, graduates v. retirees. I exaggerated a bit, because I was trying to be lighthearted with that comment. They won't actually accept us all 🙂
It is an interesting trend some attribute to baby boomers, but others have a more critical view.

What batch are you ? It's ridiculous this year, all these high stat applicants with no/very few interviews. I'm lucky to have some but I haven't heard anything new in the last two weeks 🙁

I'm thinking that I need to join this thread now. I applied third batch and have 1 interview... But I haven't heard back from any school for nearly a month, and 7 out of the 9 schools I applied to have already handed out some or plenty of interviews (relatively on SDN). I think I might have only 1...

Based on what I have seen on these forums over the past 3 years , as a CANADIAN you should be getting interviews from UPenn, Columbia, UoP, Pitts, Case ( very likely) and maybe UCSF (they don't favour international much). I am certain the rest wont bother because your stats are way too high ( especially for NYU and BU). They know ( and I hope this happens to you ) that you will get into a Canadian dental school ( your province) so they usually do not extend interviews to Canadians with high stats.

You will get interviews though, I am sure of it.

With those stats, I applied to Canadian schools, got interviews at all the schools I applied but rejected from all at the end.

I'm Canadian too and I have very similar stats to yours! I really hope that we're not overlooked because admissions committees think we'll get into canadian dental schools...I'm not even applying to canadian dental schools this year! I really want to get into a US dental school 🙁

I am feeling so defeated..I know people are saying not to start worrying until October/November, but seeing all of these interviews at schools that I have applied to and thought I had a decent shot is making me feel defeated. I have a 3.4 oGPA and a 3.3 sGPA (3.7 for the last 2 years) with 18AA 18TS and 19PAT (nothing below 18), lots of ECs, volunteer hours, and great personal statement and LORs. I know my stats are average but I thought I would hear from at least one school....

DAT- AA 19, TS 19, PAT 19, RC 19
Shadowing hours- 1100, Volunteer hours-330, Work hours-6000 including dental assistant for last 16 months, Research experience
AADSAS submission date- 8/6/13, Mail Out Date: 8/16/13
Schools Applied to: NYU, UConn, BU, Tufts, Temple, UaB, UoP, Nova, Stonybrook, Rutgers, Maryland.


so far.......only supplemental a received from BU and Nova. Notifications in AADSAS that application is complete from Nova and UConn.

Getting really antsy! Anyone in the same boat as me? Really wish I had gotten my application in sooner 🙁

Your GPA and DAT are almost exactly the same as mine too. Hope we both get some interviews soon - I'll be keeping an eye out for you. When did you apply? My application was submitted on 7/12, but newer DAT scores didn't get in until 8/1 (old scores were 17 AA/ 17 PAT so they probably didn't pay much attention to my first set).

I didn't apply to dental school this semester but have to pay another $200 because I bought the wrong book for school (because the book store helper recommended the wrong one, which can't be returned), spent $800 on a laptop I didn't want, have been phoneless for over a month despite already paying $200 to get a new phone, pre-ordered my other books a while ago and still haven't received them despite the fact that I need to study from them for the upcoming tests. Sorry, but I must vent. 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡

my mail outs are 7/19/2013 and 9/06/2013...I e-submitted on 7/16/2013 and took the DAT 8/14/2013...so I guess the 9/06/2013 mailing date is an updated mail in because I took the DAT after I e-submitted?

Haha, yea...your app wasn't complete until last Friday. You sorta couldn't have interviews before now.

I basically got rejected from MWU-Az for undisclosed reasons (they claimed my 17 QR was too low when all other scores were 20+), and I've heard LSU is done sending out interviews till after December when people are already accepted. Only leaves 5 schools left for me - 4 of which have already sent out a bunch of interviews. Can't help being a little concerned.

Schools didnt consider your application complete until they got your LOR. So definitely not first batch

So I have applied to Louisville, MUSC and GRU. I live in Charleston, but I've only been here since July. My DAT was good: 23AA/22TS/ 22PAT and my GPA is good as well: 3.79 sci, 3.7 bcp and 3.84 overall. NO INTERVIEWS YET!! Please tell me there's hope...I know I'm impatient and I'm technically oos for all my schools but I am freaking out about this 🙁
