*** The Official Nova Class of 2018 Interview/Acceptance Thread ***

Did they ask any tricky questions? I noticed on the interview
FeedbAck they ask questions like if you could have dinner with one person or
Fly back on the airplane with someone who would it be? Or is it just
The typical standard interview questions like weakness/strength etc?

Just had mine today. I had none of those q's. I guess it depends who your interviewer is. Mine was pretty relaxed.

Was anyone able to find out Nova's entering class size yet? I've been hearing around that its more than half of the amount interviewed and that post-interview acceptance is relatively high compared to other schools, but everywhere I look online it says about 100 is admitted.

Did something change?

Hey I have heard this too. One of the students who actually attends the school told me the other day in a message that they do interview 500 people
And accept 300 which is a large amount. But everyone on the internet I have seen
The class size acceptance of 120. I don't know why the D2 student would lie ESP if they
Go to school there and know a lot
About the process

ohh wait, duh i just realized.. its probably because they NEED to send out that many invites to fill the 100-120 seats because of rejections.

yes. schools usually accept 2x or 2.5x the amount of students as their seats

I got an email saying I will receive a letter regarding my status so I assume rejection.

I received a rejection letter today in the mail. First I've heard from any school other than umd who sent me a secondary. No interviews yet.

3.0/3.0/23aa/24ts

I have one interview but did NOVA notify you by email before you got the rejection letter or how was your process just curious and keep your head up you have a good DAT.

Hi guys,
I called Nova last week and they told me that my application was reviewed and the Adcom decided to wait for my Fall grades! Is this a good thing???????? I think that at least they are thinking of me as an applicant otherwise they would have sent me a rejection letter already right????? I'm so frustrated!! This is my first choice school 😡😡

I have no idea man I have stellar grades and still haven't heard anything besides I should be receiving a letter in the mail with an interview or not.

Man I do know that Nova call you by phone if they offer you an interview. That was what the lady told me when I called; and they are sending out rejections already... R u OOS?

Yeah I'm OSS I got told interviews come through the email when I called. It frustrates me when I keep hearing different things that there website or something should be clear about. Who knows what they accept I had a friend with 22 DAT and 3.98 gpa and got rejected there and apparently others with high scores did too.

Yeah man who knows what they are doing!!! but you don't worry with those stats you'll be accepted somewhere. I think this process is like a marathon that will end once we graduate. It doesn't matter where u go to. What matters is that at the end of the day we all are gonna be dentists. They do call you, they Congratulates you or whatever and send you emails and then they mail the package to you with the interview info or whatever.

I hope for future applicants more of this is done through a single portal so these schools stay on top of everything and let people know by specific dates it would help ease the anxiety. I think I will get in at ECU my overall gpa is 4.0 and decent DAT if not I will just wait a year and go on to grad school I am only 20 right now lol

man you'll be more than fine with a 4.0 Gpa. I mean you can go to grad school,,,but for improving what? you can't improve a 4.0 gpa right? lol you'll be fine man. Now I'm sure abt this,,,Nova will reject u because they know u applied there as a back up ( I'm really specualating abt this) They know you'll get accepted in your in states schools for sure...I've heard they do that a lot cause the % of OOS applicants is really high and they rather interview ppl that at the end have them as a first choice if u know what I mean...

Yeah I know that's smart and true I only applied as a back up. It's 12 hours away not to ideal for me. I would never want to take away a spot from someone. Dentistry is my passion and dream and I would never want someone who shares that dream with me not get in.

Yeah man.. I don't know you,,,but my advice to you is this...(cause I'm 26, studied dentistry in a different country and know how they think... sometimes) Act mature in the interviews you'll get, they will try to find your immature side because they know you are 20 and they think you are not prepared for the journey. So act professional, mature, of course be YOU. If u follow that you'll be fine, trust me on this! I wish I have a 4.0 gpa!! Did u apply to Harvard, UoP... you know the giant ones?

Any tips on how to act more professional lol I could use all the help. And na I only got a 18 on the dat I studied two weeks but had too. My dad has MS and my grandfather was sick and I had to work to pay for living and school and be at home with them and we just recently got foster kids so working jobs and with them and taking summer school classes it took a lot of
My time. I am getting a degree in biology it took a lot to have a 4.0 overall gpa at my school because a plus doesn't count lol plus I live so far away I knew I wouldn't be happy there if I take the DAT again I should make much better and then could apply there

Nope. No emails other than a notification that my app was complete/under review about a month ago.

I am coming down for open house do you think if I also come November 9th it will be effective and impact well on my application process? Because I am serious about attending that school... But October 19 and November 9 and tickets are pricey. If you think November 9th will have a greater impact than October 19 th please let me know thank you!

Does NOVA have status on AASDAS????? and interview experience? thank you!

Just had my interview last week. Do you guys know when do they get back to you?

How was your interview? Did they just ask the typical standard questions or were there any funky ones? THANKS 🙂 I am interviewing this Thursday, October 17th! A little nervous

I just had my interview last week as well (Thursday the 10th) and they should've told you that they can't get back to you before December 1st - as is applicable with all AADSAS schools/applications, I believe.

By the way, for anyone still waiting for their interview, they are EXTREMELY nice. Ultimately, you're paired up with one single interviewer and they really just want to get to know you. They preface it with "We already know you want to be a dentist, and your scores and ambitions are in your statistics/essays, so that's not what we're looking for. We want to make sure you'd be a good fit for Nova and that Nova would be a good fit for you."

I know it's hard not to worry cuz I was panicking, but really - they're great. Good Luck!

Thanks for the insight! I suppose now the real question is what kind of student is a good "fit" haha. If it's anything like Houston, then I'm guessing it's beyond just diligence, intuitiveness and competency.

Hey guy, i have an interview coming up at NOVA, can any one give me any advice about the interview, what sort of question they ask. Thanx

Do you have Nova status under AASDAS portal???😕

me! It was the soonest spot available.
hear anything about how their interviews are?

January. Everything is filled up till December and so is Feb.

Relaxing interview. Don't stress out! Just be yourself and you'll be fine.
Dr. Lippmann was so chill, very conversational!

Congrats on the interviews guys! Does anyone know what time it ends? On the website it looks like individual interviews start at 1:30 pm and end by 5 pm?! Is this true?

Personal interviews start around 2pm. It depends on when you get called for your interview. Some people ended at like 2:30, and the last people to be called got done around 4:30

Did you come down for Oct.19th? Did you have a chance to speak to who you needed to? I know that you can schedule an appointment with Dr. Lippman anytime, if you wanted to speak to him one on one. That is what I did in the past. I also attended these NSU Pre-dental days in the past before I started attending here, however, I am from Florida so it wasn't too much of an inconvenience. Usually a lot of pre-dentals come to this event but you do get a chance to talk to Dr. Lippman if you make yourself present. I enjoyed this event because it was very interactive they have workshops and you get to see the school, and the dental students are really friendly and answer any questions you may have. I didn't really get to talk to Dr. Lippman too much during the event, but I just wanted talk to him as often as I could face to face to show my interest in Nova.

I hope this helps if you have any further questions let me know.

Best Regards!
