Im interviewing wednesday, does anyone want to hang out with me after the interview? My flight back isn't until 9:30 so I will have a couple hours to kill 🙂

Does Nova give out a ton of interviews? I feel like it seems as if a ton of people have gotten one here compared to other places and if so does that mean we really have to wow them in the interview..? It makes me nervous!

So apparently my friends at Nova are telling me there's a huge cheating scandal that went down recently. Where the D3 and 4's involved have been suspended or possibly expelled, and that the curriculum has become unnecessarily difficult as a consequence. Crazy lol. Can anyone confirm this? Don't wanna be in that hectic environment.

For what it's worth, I've heard the same thing independently from a friend of a D2. Came here hoping to learn something more. She's concerned about the school's accreditation moving forward. That's all I've been told tho.

I was thinking the same thing...

It just seems like that. Schools like roseman and vcu actually give out more interviews based on numbers from previous cycles. But yes they just choose people who they personally like, and this will "fit in to NOVAs culture"

Does anyone know the most recent ADEA official number who interviewed (OOS) and number accepted? I agree with the people who commented above...it seems like they give out a lot of interviews.

out of 623 IS applicants,
399 interviewed, mades offers to 189

out of 2262 OOS applicants,
289 interviewed, mades offers to 123

So it may seem they interview many ppl, but they also receive tons of applicants.

Hi! Where did you get this info from? I have the online ADEA subscription but it doesn’t have as much information.

hi! It's from the ADEA 2017-18 book. I had the online subscription also, but it has expired. I think once you're in a school's profile, if you scroll all the way down you can see a chart with the same info

So I hope someone replies to this, can you guys tell me if my stats are good or not because I honestly don't know anymore.
AA 20 TS 20 And none below 17
Cumulative GPA 3.78
Sci. GPA 3.65
I'm kind of stressed because i feel like everyone got some kind of notification from NOVA, I received the notification call but nothing else after that.

you're more than fine, good DAT and high GPA. If you don't hear from nova you'll hear from other schools. It's a really random process

You have really good stats, good DAT and high GPA. Like the person above said, it’s really not just a numbers game. The process is so random and there’s so many people with high stats who don’t get in somewhere you would think they should have and vice versa. Who knows how they decide. There’s so many factors...timing of app, who reviews it, whether it’s a whole committee or individuals etc etc etc. But you’ll absolutely hear from other schools if you don’t hear from Nova.

I posted this before but based on your stats you will most likely be invited:

This was stated by the dean during our D1 orientation:
NOVA Class of 2022 statistics averages: GPA 3.6, science 3.7, DAT total 20, Science DAT 21
Number of applications received ~= 3,000, offers made 240, start class: 120
From 120 D1s 80 are from Florida.

Also want to add: great program, NOVA is spending lots of money on state of the art equipment and training for dental students here, so you will be learning all new technology, dental equipment and tools.
NOVA is mostly focusing on health care professions, in addition to dental school: MD, DO, OD, Pharmacy, Dr. Occupation Therapy, D. Speech Pathology, PhD clinical psychology, nursing, etc... There is also a hospital being build on campus so lots of future training clinical opportunities.

240 interviews offered?? Or 240 admission offers? I interviewed on Aug 17th. We were the 2nd group of interviewees and I was wondering if they had a rolling admissions process- because 240 admission offers is alot, so half the people reject the offer and they count on that to have the class size at 120?

Hey guys! I am interviewing at Nova this Thursday, and was wondering if anyone here has already interviewed this cycle and have any tips. From what I've heard before, is that their interviews are very laid back and barely ask any dental related questions.

This is a great interview experience!! You will love it! We talked about horses and golf and our families for 35 minutes. Dr. Lippman is wonderful and is running the show there. Nothing to worry about, really.

I wanna ask, I just got interview today which there is no more available appointments, I only could pick dec 13th, is it too late??! I m nervous

For those who have interviewed or live around the area, how's the weather around campus? I checked the weather and it seems to be raining every day of September.

I live in Florida, and thats just kinda the weather down here. There will normally be a little rain each day, even if just for like 5 minutes or 10 minutes, which it normally is unless there is an actual storm.

Check your ADSAS application status frequently as dental school updated the status right away ( except for NYU)
NOVA receives ~3000 applicant each cycle, they can't call everyone.

Oh sorry, I meant that they called me and I wasn't sure if it was good news or if they called everyone. My bad!

Dec 13th is kind of late since the 1st offers are made Dec 1st based on all pre December interviews. It means you will not be considered in the first batch of applicants. So to increase your chances you need to be checking the calendar regularly(you might call them weekly as well) for cancellations to see if you can move your interview to before December.
Sometimes people cancel their interviews and if the pre-December spot opens you should take it.
Also, many people say the interview was easy and relaxed but then they are not offered an admission.
Whoever interviews you will rank you and you must convey your best traits and related experiences even when you are not asked about it. Do not just have a small talk and leave with no impactful massage about why they should make you an offer.
Good luck!

I got a call from Nova last Tuesday, 09/04, letting me know my application was complete and they will have a decision within 4-6 days. It’s now been a little over a week... should I call? Does this mean bad news or has anyone else experienced this? Thanks!

I wouldn't call. My best advice is to just be patient and wait. There's still plenty of time
It took a few weeks for them to send me an interview invite after I got that call, but I did apply in early June and it was complete in late June.

Nope, got an email saying pending review and then rejection in the mail. Seems kind of weird.

If you received a rejection then you need to email admissions right away and ask them why. They will tell you the reason , e.g. low GPA or DAT or you do not have pre-requisites or references. You need to know the reason because you might be able to sort it out.
remember that NSU gets over 3,000 application and interviews over 600 applicants so the rest are rejections.
If you are rejected and you have BSc there is a pre-dental 1 year program and if you get 95% or higher in all subjects you have a guaranteed a spot in the next year. Also if you got rejected and complete a related MS program you have better chances of an admission in the upcoming year cycle.

How do I find info on the pre dental program? I tried to search it, but nothing came up.

I just called NOVA to ask why I was rejected but they did not have anything specific on file

Go to: Admission Requirements | Master of Biomedical Sciences | NSU
it states: " The Master of Biomedical Sciences (M.B.S.) is a program that allows students to demonstrate that they can be successful in either the Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine or College of Dental Medicine. Students are trained in human biology and medicine to improve their academic credentials in order to be considered for admission to our professional schools."
From the whole master's class we have in D1 2 students that completed this program and got As in all subjects and that guaranteed them an admission but if your grades are not acceptable you will not be accepted to the NOVA dental school.

email: Norma Concepción , Admission Lead, [email protected] and copy [email protected] (Dr. Hal Lippman, Associate Dean, Admission) and ask since you were not admitted what you need to improve in order to be considered next year. (they should reply where your weak areas were, etc.. , at least last year I saw few posts verifying response) Also ask if your application was "complete" , maybe there was something missing. It may take a while because they are dealing with over 3,000 applicants. Give them few weeks then follow up.

Many people ask me about the interview process and I have an additional comment to my previous posts. The admission committee want to ensure that you can handle the workload so reassure them during your interview.
Believe me once you start the dental school you just study non-stop and that even is not enough.
