Hey Guys! Did you get application complete email after submitting the secondary application? Last email I got from NOVA said: You may access a listing of your outstanding application requirements via our online system, WebSTAR:
I have completed and submitted all the documents?

Anybody have interview on Aug 24? I scheduled it for Aug 24 but I will be staying there from the 23rd to 26th. Anyone willing to chill after the interview? It is my first time to FL and I have no idea what to do after. 😀

Got an interview invite today, but my official DAT scores have still not come in yet. Is this common practice for NOVA to accept unofficial DAT scores?

got an interview invite today! anyone else interviewing in mid-november? those were the only dates left that were available

Some schools do take the unofficial when handing out interviews, but then look at the official score to make sure they match once they come in.

Thanks for sharing. Do you know how many people they interview before offering 240?

Could you comment on why you chose NSU over other schools and what are some things you really like about NSU?

I liked all new dental technology they have and how they structure clinical learning: they provide early introduction to clinical settings.
NOVA also said they are constantly improving their program and investing in new technology as they want to be one of the best dental programs. NSU is not a big university but they focus on Health Professions (DMD, MD, OD, DO, Pharmacy, D of speech pathology etc.) and I liked that too.
Linda Niessen, who is the dean, took time to speak to us/applicants during the interview day as well. My interviewer (one of the professors) was extremely enthusiastic about the program. I was encouraged during my interview to be part of their dental program.
I liked NOVA's open file style interview because the questions were about my values, experience and my achievements.
I interviewed also at U Michigan (MMI) and that was somewhat stressful. At UDM interview (close file) one of the interviewing professors was falling asleep (she said that she was very tired), the other professor had simple questions that did not allow me to present full extend of who I am and what my values are or what I achieved.
Also NSU were 1st to call me with acceptance.

Thanks for the thoughtful response! I also wanted to ask - what do you think of the area around the dental school? Do you have an idea of whether the cost of living is high or low, and is it generally a good place to live?

Campus is safe and buildings are located within walking distance. There is a shuttle within the campus that also runs to the Galeria mall and clubs on the week- end. There are many townhouse and apartment complexes within walking distance to NOVA as well as within 5 to 10 minutes drive. Overall safe and good neighborhoods, mostly students. Apartments are not furnished but there is a lot of buy & sell of furniture and stuff between students.
Most students share 2 or 3 bedrooms.
Most convenient is if you have a car but many students don’t and then you have to use Uber if you need to go food shopping to Walmart or Publix or ask someone for a ride. we are hoping that the shuttle will add a stop by Walmart end of August when undergrad year starts.
Room prices vary from $550 to $800/ room/month for a shared place + internet. Some more luxuries places go for $2000/ month for 2 bedrooms. You can check out availability & price on Facebook: Nova Southeastern Univ - Roommate/Housing finder.
It will give you some Idea of prices and locations.

Most $$$ you will spend on tuition. TextBooks & dental instruments are expensive. Also you need to buy health insurance required by the program.

Hey! UDM was closed file? I was under the impression it was open. Did you get accepted to UDM?

Anyone interviewing on Oct 11? Trying to find an adventure buddy to explore Florida a bit after the interview. Thinking of staying an extra day! 🙂

Interviewing on September 27th. Has anybody interviewed at NOVA so far? If so how was it?

I did. Super relaxed, conversational and enjoyable. One on one. The conversation was mainly about my accomplishments and I actually felt like the interviewer was interested in me, rather than the typical other way around. This made me feel much more comfortable and secure about my answers. I wish all the interviews were like this lol

How long was your interview? And did you only interview with one person?

On a side note, did you do anything fun around the area while interviewing?

It was about 25 min, and yes, only one interviewer. I live in the area so I just went straight home lol. But I do recommend the beaches or exploring downtown Miami if you have time.

Anyone interviewing September 7th? Was going to go look around the city/downtown Miami after if anyone wants to join

I am happy to hear that your interview went well. I bet you will get an acceptance from NOVA. I like it here !

Do they call everyone to confirm that the application is under review? Or is it usually prior to interview invite 😳

Check your ADSAS application status frequently as dental school updated the status right away ( except for NYU)
NOVA receives ~3000 applicant each cycle, they can't call everyone.

I received this call, but it was way before any news. I think they call everyone to double check that they have received all of the documents. good luck!

I have actually found that most are not updating AADSAS...

So apparently my friends at Nova are telling me there's a huge cheating scandal that went down recently. Where the D3 and 4's involved have been suspended or possibly expelled, and that the curriculum has become unnecessarily difficult as a consequence. Crazy lol. Can anyone confirm this? Don't wanna be in that hectic environment.

My interview is October 11 and I live in Miami so I can help with showing you around 🙂

What are some things to do in the area, or food, would you recommend? Thanks!

I’d recommend the beach for sure, I like Hollywood beach because it has a nice boardwalk with a lot of variety of food, you can walk around and chose which one catches your attention & they all have good drinks which is a plus lol, I’d also recommend wynwood walls, it’s quite a drive from nova but it’s really nice, has a lot of art, restaurants & places to drink, you can’t go wrong with choosing a restaurant there 🙂 there’s a nice museum called Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science or you can go to the Miami zoo, for those things you can buy the tickets for about 5-10$ in this website cultureshockmiami let me know if anyone else has anymore questions!

Can also highly recommend a drive through the Everglades for those with more time.

Is this a troll post? If you have friends at Nova, why wouldn't you be able to confirm with them since they are your source? Also, you're asking a bunch of predentals many of whom don't attend Nova. So, I'm not sure how they would know anything about the situation.

I definitely would consider this is a plus if it is true- cheating goes on at every school but almost no schools will admit it and deal with the headache. This shows a lot of integrity and fairness towards the students that refuse to cheat and instead get run down by the falsified curve, like me. This puts Nova at the top of my list.

Hey guys,

I'll be interviewing at NOVA on Oct 3,2018. I'm planning on staying at one of the hotels that give discounts to interviewing students from Oct 2 to Oct 4. Anyone interviewing on the same period and would like to share the room?

p.s. im a dude, a harmless hygienic lil dude.

GPA (overall): 3.2

Dates available OR your interview date: 10/03

Hey! i'm also interviewing on Oct3. Did you plan/book your hotel yet? I'm looking for people to share the night(s) with 🙂

^the hotels that give “discounts” are like 10-20 dollars off an already expensive price lol at least from what I remember from checking on that last year. the selection of hotels the school gives you are like the most expensive ones out there. Oasis hotel is a good choice, clean and affordable. or airbnb
