While I understand where youre coming from, I think you and others need to realize that he is a person and not an infallible god no matter how high his GPA, DAT scores, etc; he can still make mistakes and be wrong.

In this case I think its really wrong to say something like this:

Not only is it an absurd thing to say (I mean many schools get 2-3K applicants for what ~70 seats; youre telling me only the 70 people who got in are well qualified?????). IMO the truth is competition is fierce with many many people who have worked hard.

Regarding scholarship, the only reasonable explanation (other than a lie) is maybe James Demaio being unaware of this offer? It doesnt make much sense but I guess its possible.

LOLLLL Feralis is wrecking touro up.

however what he says is true.

all the interviewees/applicants have no far gained no acceptances and/or received very few interviews at the other dental schools. Worse, there are more of you who try multiple cycles to get in but have not succeeded yet.

the anti-post against Feralis or any anti-touro in that matter is just pure jealousy. I bet if touro says to you "we only have 2 spots for you and another applicant who sits next to you, you will try all ways to trash talk and discredit the other person." it is just how life works.

I welcome your explanations for why Touro would call me for an 11 minute chat. Perhaps Touro can't (or doesn't want to) disclose informal scholarship offers prior to accreditation - I really don't know, or care.

As for @Arabidopsis , you would think Harvard's matriculants would have better things to do than try to discredit me but I guess after the DAT this is the second time I've left their students in my dust. Get on my level, son.
 
it is against the term of service on SDN to share private PM in comments. so I think the above is supportive enough.

It doesn't make sense for Feralis to make this whole thing up. why would he? (cuz he knows he will be asked for proof anyways)

and on the side of touro, they become dishonest from the beginning by privately recruiting applicants and bait them with scholarship then deny it.
 
I wasn't trying to discredit you at all. I didn't mention your name in the email or the post. I also didn't make any further posts about my opinion until you called me out. It was more the admissions member who challenged you, and in hindsight, I should have removed that section of the email.

I just wanted to clarify whether the scholarship opportunity exists- a full tuition scholarship is almost unheard of for private dental schools. I am sure future strong applicants would apply if they qualified for it. If I was interested in general dentistry, I would certainly consider something like that. A scholarship equivalent to ~$300k is huge.

I'm not going to participate in this witch hunt. I don't care whether you received the scholarship or not, and I don't care if you think you're better than my future classmates and me with your DAT score. As applicants, we are a lot more than our DAT score, and I think you're putting too much emphasis on it. I just want future applicants to know that according to admissions, there is no full scholarship offer available. To me, this is something important to clarify.

Also, I don't think the phone log proves anything, especially since it doesn't reveal the contents of the conversation. The PM is more convincing since we could search the SDN account that sent the PM (to check post history, creation date, etc.).

Phone log proves everything, IMHO. what if the SDN account is fake. you know how easy it is to create a SDN account.

However, this phone number is straight from Touro. While Feralis didn't apply, why would they call to have a 11min converation?

Proves absolutely nothing. You could have photo shopped a pic and put that pic on your phone. Just cuz it's in your phone doesn't mean it's real, it can still be a pic. Your a smart guy, but some of us are smarter in other ways

But I am still pretty intrigued by the fact that they actually monitor a website like this and reach out to applicants like that.
It's pretty amusing. This is something that is likely to happen in movies, but not in real world.

I think the more interesting observation here is in the awkward coping mechanisms of people that go all-in on an accusation that doesn't pan out.
 
People who receive such offers dont make it a point to shout it from the rooftops or to go out of their way to discredit an institution that the offer is coming from. Food for though 😉
 
Guys, why would Feralis lie? Also, why would Touro admit to a stunt that is clearly trying to achieve them a reputable inaugural class? They are trying to get high GPA's and DAT scores to enroll so when they pubish their stats it won't look so low compared to established dental schools.

If someone came on the forums with a brand new account making statements like that I would be skeptical.
Even when Feralis (who has been active on this forum for years) first posted he got a full ride I didn't believe it. Until he posted the picture above.

The dean of touro claims that it is false and said dont believe it. The response was very firm that was utterly a lie. A phone call log is not proof of an offer. Also, I'm guessing that they're reading this so why dont they weight in on it? Since they check this for admissions instead of using AADSAS 😱

Haha. Believe what you want. He has no reason to lie. He's already accepted to dental school. I personally have never seen a DAT score as high as his. Thus Touro offering him a scholarship to attend their school wouldn't surprise me.

why would he admit something he does not want anyone to know? he doesnt have to self-discriminate. plus, that will bring a very bad reputation.

First off official notice is always done by U.S. mail. Second, Touro made very clear that they will not let any applicant know if they in or not until final accreditation. He's claiming that he got scholarship? Please give me a break
