For those that were accepted, I interview in a couple weeks and I am wondering if there is any advice/tips that you have? Are there questions to prepare for?

I know it's cliche, but be yourself! I thought my interview was very conversational. We talked about my background and how I got to this point (I'm non traditional) and they asked classic questions like why Touro, why dentistry, etc. Good luck!
 
So someone I know has an interview on January the 16th.
She received an email today telling her this is a final confirmation email about her interview and if she is not gonna attend, she should notify them.
She replied saying she will attend and she is grateful for this opportunity and looking forward to seeing the school etc.

She checked her Adea Addsas today to see this written:

Withdrawn before Action!

She tried to call them at 4:30 pm, nobody picked up the phone!

What does that mean? Did someone encounter this, is it a glitch or what exactly!

Of course she sent them an email asking about what happened, but still, she is freaking out right now because she loves Touro and has already purchased tickets and booked her hotel!

I'm pretty sure she'll be fine. I mean... there must be a time she'll be able to reach them from now till her interview date so don't worry.

Thanks a lot for your reassurance. Thankfully, they did reach out to her today after she sent them an email and voice mail, and they fixed that.
 
Hi! If any of you got multiple acceptances but chose Touro, what aspects made you choose it? I'm interviewing tmrw!!
 
Did anyone that interviewed on 1/9 hear back yet?

Thanks. I got the email 2 days ago. Still waiting on the confirmation email from Mr. Demaio for Feb 13th afternoon session.

Hey guys, I'm trying to book a hotel near the school and the only ones I see are Comfort Inn and La quinta. Is anybody interviewing on the 23 staying in any of those hotels?

Not sure if this belongs to another thread, but didn't find anything. I'm wondering what areas I should look into to move. White plains is nice but pretty pricy. Looking into Stamford CT cause its $400-600 cheaper a month for a studio or 1/1. But that being said, I'm not too sure if that's a good idea since I don't know how the traffic situation is.

You should look into Fleetwood. It's a beautiful neighborhood that's less than 20 minutes away from Touro, and the rent is cheaper than most of Westchester county!

Anyone accepted off the waitlist yet who interview after 12/5? Before 12/5? I feel like touro has been accepting people left and right and I’m butthurt

I’m sorry I was too ! 18AA both times on dat although arguably did better first time because the first time I only got 1 15 , which was on the pat. The second time I got 3 15s one in math one in Pat and one in GC .. biomedical eng major 3.38 sci 3.46 cum... but just got into UB last week

I participated in two research projects at UB dental one more clinically based one was more bench lab work. It wasn’t rly anything extensive the clinical one I just performed stress tests and EKG tests to understand like TMJ another one was basically running PCR experiments but in the realm of understanding how Heperan sulfate effects bone growth or osteoporosis in the mandible. One was work study one was voluenteer

I’m a member of CSTEP, and two local dental support groups for pre dents one called FDMC (future dentist mentoring committee) and inspire DDS.
Uh I did assisting since Nov 2017 very part time while in school full time and then transitioned to a full time position and help treatment plan and coordinate in a cosmetic dentist office in buffalo. I stayed in buffalo because I really value working for the doctor I work for now... but if I don’t get into dental school I’ll prrrrrobably get a job in nyc for a biomedical engineering company That’s my undergrad major. But that’s really all I’ve done. Mostly assisting and research .. I also was on the rowing team my first year of undergrad

also if you’re asking this in light of UB - most of my letters were from UB faculty or alumni. Actually all of them were lmao. So that I think with the fact that I had the doctor I work for write an updated LOR a when I was waitlisted helped a lot because I’ve heard a lot of people say they’ve only received calls from UB before being accepted if they were accepted after dec 3rd and I didn’t get any phone call. It was this past Monday at 2:45pm I only got an email . There’s no rhyme or reason to who they chose and why but my feeling is as the cycle gets closer and closer to the end I think calling and writing your letters and showing interest is what’s gonna get you in . Especially UB thwyre bery holistic and it’s a great school but I’ve been in this city too long and I’m a nyc girl I can’t live here anymore lol

Touro is in the suburbs (and basically middle of nowhere) and isn’t exactly super close to the city, why is it better than Buffalo, which is MUCH cheaper to attend?

Im not saying it’s better or worse? For me financially it would be a better move i don’t just have housing that I pay for through my stipend. I also Pay for my car which is a lot of money a month and in addition to that I’ve a job reserved for me with a different doctor that’s promised me pay for remotely managing her office .. I’d only go in once a week while in school. It’s hard to explain I’d say for anyone who comes from one area to point out every single benefit of going to a place they call home but that’s just how it is I guess? I’m sorry I don’t have a better answer. I just know that Nyc is much better for the public sector, the private sector in ny is trash and that weighs when considering a job and what you do post grad... personally i would want to work in a hospital setting. No that there isn’t that in buffalo but nyc is a much larger city in general there are much more opportunities ESPECIALLY for minorities And when I say NY I mean nyc. The schools actually a lot closer to the city than you think. It took me 20 mins to get there for my interview on a Wednesday morning from the south bronx with regular traffic... And if you wanna consider Manhattan as the city manhattan is just south of the Bronx.

All and all, to me, the nyc/Hawthorne/Scarsdale/ WESTCHESTER HUDSON VALLEY AREA, is home. And I’ve spent so much time in Buffalo i just want to be home!

Lol also Touro really isn’t the suburbs. It’s the closest residential area to outside of the city that you’ll get that is decent. The only thing closer is maybe Yonkers/Pelham... but Hawthorne and Scarsdale is much nicer.
