*** The Official Tufts School of Dentistry Class of 2024 Interview/Acceptance Thread ***

Any applicants interview last cycle, sit on the waitlist, and reapply this year? I’ve heard there isn’t a second interview, so what’s the game plan? Wait until Dec 2??

So a good amount of students have deferred acceptance who applied last year.

I paid my application fee on 8/7 and since then, I haven't heard anything back from them. Is it bad?

Deferred acceptance till 2025? Or for this upcoming cycle?

Not 100% sure how it works but I knew a few students in my masters program who had deferred acceptances. They just need to graduate the program. I don't know if each person has to meet a specific requirement but I know a student who barely graduated and got into Tufts. GPA was not that much above a 3.0. Also remember you need at least a 3.0 to gradate from a masters program.

If that’s true about the 3.0 then I really hope they send out more interviews lol

The students that I know who got deferred acceptances had decent stats. If you're coming straight out of undergrad with a sGPA 3.0, I wouldn't have my hopes high.

I’m not. I did a masters and got a 3.45 gpa

I see what you were talking about now. The ~3.0 masters GPA is an exception. If you didn't get the conditional/deferred acceptance, you need a 3.5+ or higher. A 3.45 GPA should also be fine for Tufts and NYU

Gotcha. Yeah I hope so. I’m just waiting and hoping they give me an Interview

Might be a dumb question but what determines a deferred acceptance?

it's not a dumb question; just taking a guess, but it could mean that the school really wants you but they simply didn't have enough seats or whatever that year, so they offer to defer your acceptance. Or it could mean that you got accepted and you had to defer your acceptance for whatever reason. I feel like the ppl that are able to do that have close relations to the school already...dunno.

Oh okay gotch. Thank you for your response!

Mostly people who submitted their apps and had them ready for review by end of July are getting interviews. Know 3 people who have gotten them from my masters program and that’s when they submitted. Didn’t submit mine until early September so staying hopeful

Are you doing a masters at in FL?
I submitted in early July and got app complete email July 19 but haven’t heard back yet?

No not in Florida. Tufts recruits heavy at my school from my masters program though so most people who apply from my school get interviews

Should I be worried if my application status on AADSAS still states under review/complete. I got my completion email on July 15. I am starting to get worried 🙁

My application still says “Received/Waiting Additional Information” and it’s said this til August 5. They say don’t even try contacting them too. All of my information was sent. My DAT scores were confirmed in AADSAS on August 14 and that was the only thing missing.

What kind of program is it? I heard people doing Pre-med post-bacc program at Tufts get offered interviews (I know who actually got into the school from doing this).

Also from what you said earlier, this made me think that people who received interview invitations from Tufts in September are generally the ones who have a master's degree?

I received an interview invite but I have no masters

the first interviews were oin oct 1 and 2 not sept from wat ive heard

Mine is received/under review since I submitted quite early (6/29). I think your status means one step further ahead of my process?

When I asked about additional dates for interviews on 9/25 they were still on 10/21 as the latest available interview date and was told November dates weren’t even available. By that trajectory I’d imagine they’re probably somewhere in early November dates rn so there should still be pre-dec left

i know that the first round of interviews of this week are done. Can anyone tell me how it went? or what the formatting is? Thanks!
Hello, Tufts D23 here! The interview day consists of a group icebreaker activity and presentations in the morning, followed by lunch where current students will drop in to talk to you. Your interviewers (a faculty member and 4th year dental student) will grab you from lunch and escort you to the room where you will have your interview. There is a possibility that you could have just a faculty member interviewing you as well. My advice: eat your lunch quick hahaha. Overall, interviewing at Tufts was a wonderful experience. Everyone here, including your interviewers, genuinely wants to get to know you. No tricky questions - just answer honestly. They want to know what motivates you! Good luck 🙂

hi! how long were people's status on "Received/Under Review" for prior to getting an invite to interview? My status changed from "Received/Application Complete" to under review on Tuesday morning.

Anyone know when the last pre-december interviews will be sent out? Are there more coming?

We wouldn't know for sure.

Always refer back to last year's thread. It seems like the last pre-Dec interview invites came on Nov 21st for Nov 26th interviews. They also interview in December.

My application was under review then after paying the supplemental, it changed to Received/Application complete. Did anyone experience the same?
